  1. Doesn't help that the team shot terribly and Mason was trying to play through injury and had his worst game of the season. Future is bright though returning everybody besides Springs and adding 2 really solid guards and another veteran who missed the year with injury.
  2. Judd Caulfield invited to the 46 man NTDP evaluation camp March 24-28.
  3. Probably Brock Nelson not sure if he played USHL before/after his SR season though.
  4. The other factor is it isn't always about what they are projected to be and development. Sometimes it is just about being able to experience high school for one more year, being at home with your family, and playing with the guys you grew up with. There are tons of guys who could leave early and have fine success but some just might not want to leave what they've grown up with yet.
  5. Didn't hear that so not sure. He had resigned last spring/summer but that didn't last real long at all.
  6. Ankle I believe, he was in pretty noticeable pain against Holy Family and battled through it the rest of the way but it did hurt his skating some.
  7. I don't have highlights to last nights game but here is the montage from the end of the tournament. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoYxppjuREU&feature=youtu.be
  8. It would be hard to go back to back for Hain and McLaughlin and it is probably more likely for them to leave now that they did win then if they would of lost. Somebody last night mentioned they assumed both would be gone but then another guy made a couple good points. When is the last time a Grand Rapids player left early? Also the guys really love to play for Klatt and he has the college and NHL experience kids value. I guess I wouldn't be surprised either way with what Hain and McLaughlin do but I hope they stay and just play USHL before and after the season they get enough experience just doing that no reason to leave early. I think we will see more high end Minnesota kids stay at least the next few years with Mittelstadt doing it this year and it not affecting him at all.
  9. I don't care whether it is Gersich, Jost, or anybody else on the team my philosophy is as long as it isn't a blowout either way you can celebrate the goal however you want.
  10. Grand Rapids big guns came through big time tonight for them. When their top line plays the way they did tonight it is hard for anybody to beat them. If nobody leaves early for both Grand Rapids and Moorhead both these teams could very well be back for next years state tournament. Overall one of the best tournaments in a number of years filled with exciting close games and great storylines.
  11. Some sloppy play at times but a back and forth exciting game where the Sioux come out on top. Really liked the way Olson played tonight even before the game winner except I thought he should have made the pass early on the 2-on-1 early to Yon as he was at the end of the shift. Great job by the ref that made the goal call in OT he was in great position and got the call right on the ice that a lot of people need review before they know that one is a goal.
  12. Hermantown wins it on a shot from the point off the faceoff.
  13. No goal after review! and I think that is the right call.
  14. Penalty on Hermantown late in the 1st OT pretty clear elbow to the head.
  15. Been another great game. If Hermantown wins it I think it comes from Ryan Sandelin, if it is Monticello I'll go with Nick Zwack.
  16. MAML takes a 3-1 lead over Hermantown early in the 3rd.
  17. MAML strikes first 52 seconds into the 2nd.
  18. Tied at 0 after 1 in the Class A Championship Hermantown outshooting Monticello 15-1.
  19. In Class A Delano beats EGF 6-3 for 5th and St. Cloud Cathedral beats Northfield 2-1 for 3rd.
  20. That is great about youth hockey but lets be honest high school is a whole different deal with some guys going to different schools, much better coaching in some places, there is much more pressure and expectations in some places. My point is you can't automatically say they could have a 50/50 game with anyone in the tourney in a one game shot because half the battle is just getting there in Minnesota. There is so much more competition that the Grand Forks teams don't get to experience because of the lack of depth in ND and that competition can grind on a team throughout the year. A big part of it is the battle of going out there and facing a good team night in and night out especially in the metro. There are good players in Grand Forks but saying because they dominate ND hockey and can compete in a few games with Minnesota teams means they could win the state championship is kind of like the way NDSU fans argue they could compete or win the Big 12 when they beat Kansas St in a one game shot. I've watched a lot of Minnesota hockey and have also seen both Central and Red River this year. Central probably would have been a top 10 team most of the year and would have had a chance to get to state but no guarantee there. I don't think Red River would have got to state but they would have been a fringe top 20ish team I'd compare Red River a little to Bemidji this year.
