  1. I did see the highlights and the goal was included. Don't care how hard it was he was off his angle and most college goalies make that save. Nothing against Tomek I want him to develop into a goalie but with the situation we are in with not a lot of margin for error I feel more comfortable with Hrynkiw than him.
  2. Yes believe Berry did it last Friday against Duluth. The challenge was for offsides and I don't think they look at that on their own reviews during the regular season. I think they can only look for whether the puck crossed the line, timing, and goalie interference.
  3. Didn't get to watch the game but sounded like the Bowen, Yon, and Gornall line was our best line and although Gornall hasn't played a whole lot Bowen and Yon have been very good together all year so I guess it shouldn't really be a surprise. Also sounded like Peski was very good last night. The 1st period wasn't very good at all but seemed like the team woke up after the 1st intermission. I wasn't surprised to see Tomek get the start over Hrynkiw with Johnson being out but with the way things went in the 1st I also wasn't surprised to see Hrynkiw start the 2nd. The 1st goal wasn't Tomek's fault at all but the 2nd goal was a bad goal where he was caught out of position. I'm not sure how long Johnson will be out but I think Hrynkiw will be getting the call until he is back unless he gets absolutely lit up one game. It isn't because of anything Hrynkiw showed last night but more a comfortability thing for Berry knowing that Hrynkiw stepped in and was solid last year when Johnson was out.
  4. I'd already slot him in higher than that I like his game. I think he would be a nice partner for Shaw or Poolman.
  5. Hadn't heard that but could be as Washington State hired Minnesota's former DL coach.
  6. Adding a d-man makes sense especially a righty. You lose Ausmus and pretty likely Poolman. Bast is a question mark that I don't think you can count on and Evers may not ever step foot on campus. That leaves you with 8 defensemen not counting Bast and Evers. With the lack of depth we have had this year I also wouldn't be surprised to see next year be a year where you see a little bigger roster and just let the guys battle it out each week to see who is in the lineup. Most of the time it has been 15 forwards and 8 defensemen but I wouldn't be surprised to see it be a year where we have 17 forwards 9 defensemen or something like that.
  7. Probably not, Gophers have a lot of very good depth at LB I don't think they will look to add another one and I think they were looking at Ott as more of a DE who would need to put on some weight.
  8. No matter who is in the lineup this weekend is a must sweep.
  9. From what I've heard nobody from Fleck and the new staff had even contacted him yet so as of now I wouldn't think the visit was still on.
  10. With no Jost and Janatuinen I think I'd go with: Gersich-Boeser-Bowen Yon-Gardner-Poganski Smith-Hoff-Olson Gornall-Simonson-Wilkie Could see another defenseman in instead of somebody on that 4th line as well.
  11. From Schloss Tyson Jost (lower body) is out tonight. Joel Janatuinen (undisclosed) is out tonight. Both scored last night. Tough go for UND right now.
  12. Very disappointing effort tonight. This is the result you get when you play a good team and only a few guys show up ready to play. Very soft on pucks throughout the game and seemed like Duluth won every race. Would expect to see some changes in the lineup tomorrow. Smith isn't overly skilled but he plays a hard physical style and will play hard and that is more than some guys in the lineup bring consistently. Whether it is for Wilkie, Simonson, or maybe someone else I expect Smith to be in tomorrow. A bad goal for each goalie tonight would think Johnson will get the start tomorrow and he needs to be on top of his game. I did think the 3rd looked closer to Sioux hockey but even then it was too little too late.
  13. Sounds like he hasn't really heard from Fleck and the new staff at least as of yet.
  14. Good response by the guys tonight. Much more focused effort defensively limiting Miami's opportunities.
  15. I don't blame at all on the 1st one but that 2nd one was terrible. No screen and it wasn't exactly a heavy shot, it was one that needs to be saved by a goaltender at this level. It just seemed like a momentary lapse. Goalies have had that before for us and been very good goalies like Zane. I just wonder if Tomek has some lapses like that and coaches see it in practice then it is easy to see why the coaches would keep going with Johnson because he is more reliable and consistent. Wasn't meant to be a shot at Tomek really just more for some who have been whining about wanting to see Tomek all year that maybe that is a reason why Johnson has been in there night in and night out instead.
  16. Thought this team had turned a corner with the Union game, last weekend at Omaha, and then the first half of the game tonight. Instead they decide to put no effort or energy into the 2nd half of the game and end up with another bad loss to a bad team at home just like Michigan State and Western Michigan. I know Tomek hasn't played and I'm sure he was nervous but I think we saw why Johnson has started so many games in a row and will continue to do so with the 2nd goal Tomek gave up. The Poganski penalty that put the nail in the coffin was a very weak call. Wolanin and Johnson have got to better defensively or they can't be on the ice. Have seen those 2 beat way too much with guys just getting behind them and giving up an odd man scoring chance. This team needs to respond tomorrow and respond in a big way.
  17. It would be a scholarship offer from Minnesota.
  18. Noah Gindorff from Crosby-Ironton.
  19. Only thing is his official visit was set with Coach Sherels the night before Fleck was hired. Many think Sherels will be retained but you never know for sure until it is actually done.
  20. Fleck got commits from 2 DE's who had been committed to Western Michigan and also offered another one. Gophers previously had 0 DE commits and not a whole lot of depth there on the current roster so probably still looking for a couple more but maybe some good news for UND with them adding the 2 from Western Michigan last night.
  21. Loved the energy right from the drop of the puck. Jumped all over Omaha right away and didn't give them a chance to get back into it. Would expect a much better effort from Omaha tomorrow and probably a more physical style but if the guys bring the same energy and effort I don't think Omaha can skate with us consistently throughout the lineup.
  22. They have actually done a really good job keeping the top Minnesota guys home the last few years. Have 4 of the top 5 again this year and the other one is committed to Harvard.
  23. UND commit Ezekiel Ott is scheduled for an official visit to Minnesota for January 27th. The visit was scheduled by Mike Sherels last night. With Fleck being hired this morning it isn't for sure that Sherels will be back but most people around the Gopher program say it would be very smart of Fleck to keep him.
  24. Hell of a game! Agree with what others have said wish they wouldn't go to the shootout in the gold medal game.
