  1. You can't have it both ways. When you unexpectedly lose an all-Summit league player, the Summit league ROY, a starter plus the previous year's Summit ROY all to the portal, you don't get to complain about "how many legitimate players are on this roster" and in the same breath say that the portal is just an excuse. It is an absolute fact, that without the portal there would be quite a few more "D1 players" and some pretty damn good ones that have proven themselves at this level already. I haven't heard Sather complain a single time about the hand he was dealt. This roster looks incredibly different with at minimum Rebraca and Ihenacho on it. You don't magically replace unexpected losses just like that. Don't think its a stretch to say some of the biggest weaknesses in this year's team are a solid post game and a steady PG. Toss in Sueker and Nero being hurt and you have results that aren't all that surprising. No one is happy about the results. No one is saying they are the expectation or that they are acceptable. But logical people can look at what the coach has done previously and when he has had even a portion of the talent needed to compete. It is his job to build the roster back up. Sending him packing isn't going to do much of anything but reset the cycle (unless there is some wizard out there who somehow knows exactly what combination of transfers and JuCos would skip a few years). EDIT: Just reference, here is what UND unexpectedly lost in the offseason between Ihenacho, Rebraca and Sims (I'll exclude DAE since I think he was gone regardless, though that wasn't known until part way through the season: -1st and 3rd leading scorer (Sims was 7th at 6.3, 3rd through 7th are all within less than 2.5 points of each other) - 46% of points scored -Top 3 rebounders - 54% of rebounds -1st, 2nd and 4th in minutes/game - 44% of minutes played Again, these are just the unplanned losses of 3 players. Not shocking this year went how it did, especially with injuries.
  2. Oh, you mean the programs that actually had national champions and All-Americans and such?
  3. Guessing KNOX having a monetary interest had some influence on his point of view.
  4. Let's take the message board drama and the interpretation of what's going on with a grain of salt instead declaring people need to be tossed out left and right.
  5. I agree if they are going to play defense, try to score. But I'm not sure dunking after the buzzer and then spending a extra time hanging on the rim to make sure it's rubbed in just a little bit extra fits that bill. Emotions got the best of a few people last night.
  6. He wasn't even the one who was clapping his hands in a coach's face or threw a punch.
  7. Yes. Please show me where that happens? He gets through the line as fast as he can before having words with Richman. Doesn't say a word to any of the players. No one bats an eye in the handshake line.
  8. Tom Douple is still determining how big of a heel to play on the way out? Dominic Izzo's twitter had a video that showed no issues and then alluded to the coaches having words and a little jostling, which was immediately followed by two NDSU players jumping in and starting to jaw at ORU's coach and then things really took a turn (42ish second mark). Looks like ORU's big man went beserker because he might have taken a shot to the face a bit earlier. Both coach's deserve a game or two. Probably a player or two from each side. Players don't need to insert themselves between coaches having words and most of them handled it appropriately. But there were more than a few on each side that continued to escalate it.
  9. Well, hopefully we've heard the last of handshake line fight jokes...
  10. Not sure what else to compare it to but UND split there's out a little bit differently. When looking at revocable/irrevocable, hust under 27% were listed as revocable out of the entire $324 million. For planned gifts, it gets a little confusing as they break it out by year that it was pledged, so gifts that were pledged early in the campaign could have very well been delivered prior to the campaign ending. However of the $324.1 million, roughly 40% was listed as "planned". To clarify that a little more, UND didn't list "irrevocable" and "planned gifts" as separate line items like NDSU did. At minimum, UND had about 60% of their pledges in hand by the end of the campaign (likely more since it was an 8 year campaign) and at minimum, 73% of the pledges were irrevocable. One clarification for your comment, if I'm reading it right, they did recieve roughly $61 million of the $146 million pledge payments already. So to me, it looks like there is still $85 million of that to collect along with the revocable gifts of $143 million.
  11. They definitely didn't have the seat map updating like Ticketmaster usually does. There were a lot of "these seats have already been taken" messages.
  12. Turns out they changed it. The first few days people could pick their tickets. Not sure why they adjusted it but they did.
  13. You'll get to pick your own seats despite what it says.
  14. I'd guess the owners are happy with the job he's doing, which is to make them more and more money.
  15. Just for reference: In 2020, the 10th OT went in the mid-2nd round and 14 went in the top 3 rounds In 2019, the 10th OT went in the late-3rd round and 11 went in the top 3 rounds In 2018, the 10th OT went in the mid-4th round with 9 going in the top 3 rounds In 2017, the 10th OT wen in the mid-5th round with only 5 going in the top 3 rounds Not sure if teams are placing more emphasis on OT lately or the classes have been stronger compared to other positions the last two years. If I had to guess, outside chance at being a late day 2 pick (end of round 3) but with a high probablility of going very early on day 3.
  16. Half-truths is being pretty kind on the accuracy.
  17. I'm not a lawyer, but firm of Baker Donelson sure is, and they just so happen to be experts in Title IX litigation. Which is why UND hired them to help oversee the process. I would guess there would have been a nice path to baseball and/or men's S&D returning if it wasn't done in the way it was. I highly doubt that Kennedy, being a fairly smart businessman himself (regardless of what your personal opinions of him are), decided on a whim to forge his own path on this. But there are still people who think the WIH program wasn't actually losing over a million dollars/year before they were assessed any sort of facility charges to their bottom line. Point is, you can't argue with people that have their own version of the truth.
  18. Bet if you asked her, she'd give you the reasoning. Haven't seen her avoid answering any questions in the past. A team that won 2 games last year has now won 7 of their last 9, with the two losses against top 40ish teams in the nation. Quite the arm-chair coaching going on here. That's not saying it isn't fair to question, but claiming that the coach is being retributive, trying to play head games or doesn't have a clue is ridiculous. I feel pretty confident that it is being made a bigger deal than it really is.

Based on what? Definitely not media deal which pays about 55% of the B1G. Might have a slight edge in academics but its pretty close. I would assume the B1G also leads in research activity just based on the schools in each conference.
  20. Crazy to think that this team is legitimately (and unexpectedly) missing 4 starters from what everyone thought the starting line-up would be when the season ended last year. Maybe even all 5 but I'll consider T for Sims a wash at worst. Need to keep the young talent around, they are taking their lumps but showing a lot of growth while doing it.
  21. Video screens were brand new.
  22. Whatever Mallory worked on in the off-season is looking like the right move. Having healthy players doesn't hurt either. Team is looking good!
  23. Any YouTube link tonight?
  24. The head T&F coach hired his wife as an assistant (she had the credentials to more than justify it). But I would think this might be a situation where maybe she is more of an asset in her current role.
  25. Here's what the Bison State Media attributed it to a few years back: https://www.bisonillustrated.com/ben-newman-ndsus-secret-weapon/ Whatever happened with that again....?
