  1. That's fairly debatable. Pretty sure both squads returned all 5 starters from last year. NDSU 90% retained around 90% of their minutes played and points scored. SDSU retained around 98-99% of their minutes played and points scored. While not young, SDSU is likely to only graduate Wilson plus any transfers but they are plenty experienced. NDSU is going to graduate 3 starters who all happen to be in the top 3 in minutes played and points scored.
  2. Not saying that it won't happen, but I'd be curious about why that is the only reason? He definitely wouldn't be the first player (or starter for that matter) to transfer out, and that was before the new transfer portal rules. I would have a hard time making any sort of blanket statement that any player, particularly a very good one at this level, will never look at other opportunities.
  3. Probably nets them about $700-800K annually though that might be low with the increase in e-tab machines.
  4. I'm curious what kind of updates you're looking for? Like actual daily practice breakdowns? They've already said a bunch of guys are being held out and things are going to be a lot lighter with how quickly things transitioned from spring football to fall football within the last year. Their twitter account has had short videos or pictures. I've seen a few quick snippets on Instagram as well. Nothing with much substance but still something. But it isn't going to be like fall camp where there are daily updates. I believe Tom Miller is sending out a newsletter through the Herald but I'm guessing you need an actual subscription for that. He did have an article from when camp kicked off and one or two features since then. Obviously there could be more, but it would be a lot of fluff with not much substance, especially the first few weeks. I get we're all starved for football and looking forward to the season, I just don't think there is a ton to report on right now.
  5. Band a group of girls together and petition the NDSU admin. If there is interest on campus, their Title IX compliance says they have to provide the sport.
  6. If you ask him what they are focusing on as both a coaching staff and tasking the players with understanding over the offseason, this something he has mentioned specifically. It's not lost on anyone how they fared in close games.
  7. That was Kennedy. Chaves has a solid relationship with them from everything I've seen. So your comment referred to just one donor and it wasn't even Chaves?
  8. Still waiting to hear some additional info on this. Feel free to read through some of these comments to be reminded that he's just stirring the pot: https://forum.siouxsports.com/search/?&q=fire faison&author=gfhockey&search_and_or=or https://forum.siouxsports.com/search/?q=fire faison&author=gfhockey&updated_after=any&sortby=relevancy&search_and_or=and
  9. I'm not sure what the outrage would be. Here is what the 4 Dakota schools paid their AD's last year: SDSU - $276,750 NDSU - $251,266 USD - $175,456 UND - $213,600 USD's AD was hired from within when the previous one resigned in 2013. He was making $125K as an Asst. AD when he was promoted to AD. The previous guy was making $165,600 8 years ago. So I assume that is why is lower than the rest.
  10. I'd love to hear some elaboration on this. Obviously President Armacost, who seems to be pretty well respected and also is on record on the importance of athletics, seems to think he's getting the job done. Could some of it be more public? Yep, absolutely. But, as an example, if you want to know why UND was able to participate in athletics last year (hockey, football, MBB, WBB), Chaves was a driving force at the conference level to get that to happen and went above and beyond to make sure UND student athletes competed while other AD's in the conference pushed for shutting things down or were indifferent. Just an example of something pretty noticeable that didn't get a whole lot of press. And while it's not going to move the needle here, the level that UND is performing at off the field (GPA/community service/etc) is incredibly impressive. I know wins are a helluva lot more fun to talk about, but I don't think that what's going on there should be understated.
  11. If someone didn't know vodka was served there, I'd question what events they've ever attended, if any.
  12. The positions exist (two of them), they just aren't filled.
  13. You can't have it both ways. When you unexpectedly lose an all-Summit league player, the Summit league ROY, a starter plus the previous year's Summit ROY all to the portal, you don't get to complain about "how many legitimate players are on this roster" and in the same breath say that the portal is just an excuse. It is an absolute fact, that without the portal there would be quite a few more "D1 players" and some pretty damn good ones that have proven themselves at this level already. I haven't heard Sather complain a single time about the hand he was dealt. This roster looks incredibly different with at minimum Rebraca and Ihenacho on it. You don't magically replace unexpected losses just like that. Don't think its a stretch to say some of the biggest weaknesses in this year's team are a solid post game and a steady PG. Toss in Sueker and Nero being hurt and you have results that aren't all that surprising. No one is happy about the results. No one is saying they are the expectation or that they are acceptable. But logical people can look at what the coach has done previously and when he has had even a portion of the talent needed to compete. It is his job to build the roster back up. Sending him packing isn't going to do much of anything but reset the cycle (unless there is some wizard out there who somehow knows exactly what combination of transfers and JuCos would skip a few years). EDIT: Just reference, here is what UND unexpectedly lost in the offseason between Ihenacho, Rebraca and Sims (I'll exclude DAE since I think he was gone regardless, though that wasn't known until part way through the season: -1st and 3rd leading scorer (Sims was 7th at 6.3, 3rd through 7th are all within less than 2.5 points of each other) - 46% of points scored -Top 3 rebounders - 54% of rebounds -1st, 2nd and 4th in minutes/game - 44% of minutes played Again, these are just the unplanned losses of 3 players. Not shocking this year went how it did, especially with injuries.
  14. Oh, you mean the programs that actually had national champions and All-Americans and such?
  15. Guessing KNOX having a monetary interest had some influence on his point of view.
  16. Let's take the message board drama and the interpretation of what's going on with a grain of salt instead declaring people need to be tossed out left and right.
  17. I agree if they are going to play defense, try to score. But I'm not sure dunking after the buzzer and then spending a extra time hanging on the rim to make sure it's rubbed in just a little bit extra fits that bill. Emotions got the best of a few people last night.
  18. He wasn't even the one who was clapping his hands in a coach's face or threw a punch.
  19. Yes. Please show me where that happens? He gets through the line as fast as he can before having words with Richman. Doesn't say a word to any of the players. No one bats an eye in the handshake line.
  20. Tom Douple is still determining how big of a heel to play on the way out? Dominic Izzo's twitter had a video that showed no issues and then alluded to the coaches having words and a little jostling, which was immediately followed by two NDSU players jumping in and starting to jaw at ORU's coach and then things really took a turn (42ish second mark). Looks like ORU's big man went beserker because he might have taken a shot to the face a bit earlier. Both coach's deserve a game or two. Probably a player or two from each side. Players don't need to insert themselves between coaches having words and most of them handled it appropriately. But there were more than a few on each side that continued to escalate it.
  21. Well, hopefully we've heard the last of handshake line fight jokes...
  22. Not sure what else to compare it to but UND split there's out a little bit differently. When looking at revocable/irrevocable, hust under 27% were listed as revocable out of the entire $324 million. For planned gifts, it gets a little confusing as they break it out by year that it was pledged, so gifts that were pledged early in the campaign could have very well been delivered prior to the campaign ending. However of the $324.1 million, roughly 40% was listed as "planned". To clarify that a little more, UND didn't list "irrevocable" and "planned gifts" as separate line items like NDSU did. At minimum, UND had about 60% of their pledges in hand by the end of the campaign (likely more since it was an 8 year campaign) and at minimum, 73% of the pledges were irrevocable. One clarification for your comment, if I'm reading it right, they did recieve roughly $61 million of the $146 million pledge payments already. So to me, it looks like there is still $85 million of that to collect along with the revocable gifts of $143 million.
  23. They definitely didn't have the seat map updating like Ticketmaster usually does. There were a lot of "these seats have already been taken" messages.
