  1. Using history as an indicator, I guess we can count on another second half collapse by Saul's team then? And how do you figure that Santa Clara is much better than Cal Poly? Both teams are 1-3. UND played flat out terrible yesterday against a good defensive team. Edit: Santa Clara was picked to finish 8th out of 10 in the West Coach and Cal Poly was picked to finish 3rd out of 9 in the Big West. West Coast is a stronger conference, but Santa Clara is no where near the class of that conference. So again, not sure what you're using to come up with Santa Clara being much better than Cal Poly.

    2013 Playoffs

Y'all got a real infatuation with UND. What's your prediction on yardage and points put up by NAU on a vaunted MVFC defense this afternoon?
  3. So Santa Clara was NDSU's super bowl then? They clearly overlooked UND. Or was Western Michigan since they overlooked Saint Mary's and SMU?

    2013 Playoffs

Would give them a chance to even the overall series which currently sits at 1-0 in favor of UND.
  5. Box score only says 11 minutes, but it sounded like Hobaugh was out there quite a bit tonight, maybe it was just more towards the end. Looking at the box score, minutes were spread pretty evenly between 12 guys. Jones tried about everything he could. Hopefully just one of those nights where things don't go right. I wouldn't be surprised to see teams throw more zone defense at UND until they show they can handle it.
  6. The Herald's list has 5-6 additional names.
  7. He was the first to put out the list but the Herald has been requesting the list as well. Tweets from Tom Miller indicated that Marshall's application hadn't been submitted when they had got their list the day before McFeely put his out. Wayne Nelson just put out an article from the Herald as with a few additional names on it and some additional commentary. A couple of the interesting new names include: -Michael Kelly, former head coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL. -Robert Ianello, wide receivers coach/recruiting coordinator at University of Kansas of the Big 12. He was also the interim head coach at Notre Dame in 2009.
  8. While I only follow him occasionally, it seems when he does comment, they seem made more to rile up one fan base or another. Or maybe I just happen to catch his comments at the wrong time?
  9. First sentence: UND is no more "spoiled" than what goes on down in Fargo. Tom Miller was very critical of the football team this year. There has been multiple instances of Caillou not reporting on something that has appeared in "other" sections of the Fargo Forum. Both schools get pretty favorable treatment from their hometown paper, as is the case almost everywhere. Second sentence: Agree, McFeely is not an NDSU lackey, he is critical of their program as well. In fact I don't even know if Bohl will do interviews with him anymore (or at least quit for a while). His schtick is to have the unpopular opinion. Do you think he really cares who gets hired as UND's next football coach? Or do you think he knew that by publishing the list first, he would get a bunch of page clicks. And making comments along the lines of "who would even want the job anyway" just furthers his agenda of stirring the pot. The Herald had requested the list the day before and is making new requests often. The Athletic Department is fully aware that this was going to happen and was prepared for it. My guess is it was related to his comments he made, not the posting of the list itself. Again, he's just trying to generate page clicks for himself. How often does he actually comment on UND athletics?
  10. Maurice Dayton has also applied per McFeely. Currently the secondary coach at Southern Miss, spent the previous two years at Coastal Carolina as the assistant head coach, special teams coordinator and wide receivers coach. Coached special teams and defensive backs at South Carolina State prior to that.
  11. I'd guess he has a short list of candidates that he is hoping apply or that he knew would apply, probably similar to something he has for almost all sports. I'm sure other qualified candidates that also apply will get a strong look as well. Faison is a smart guy, someone won't get overlooked just because he didn't think they would apply or he hadn't thought of them previously.
  12. No worries, it is well known that Revisionist History is a core requirement at FU.
  13. The Herald is also filing the same open record requests. They had filed one recently but the Montana assistant coach hadn't applied yet. McFeely just happened to release the list he had.
  14. Maybe sooner....
  15. Not to let facts get in the way, but here' are the last 5 years tournament seedings (since NDSU has been eligible). 2013 - SDSU - 13 and Montana - 13 2012 - SDSU - 14 and Montana - 13 2011 - Oakland - 13 and UNC - 15 2010 - Oakland - 14 and Montana - 14 2009 - NDSU - 14 and Portland State - 13 The Big Sky has been higher twice, the Summit once and the same twice. And Oakland isn't in the league anymore.
  16. The list came from an open records request and is the actual list of candidates who have applied thus far. And because the list will continuously be requested, that is why everyone is confident the majority of serious candidates will not actually apply until very close to the position closing date.
  17. My thought is McFeely doesn't have anything to rile up the NDSU faithful about this week (yet), so he's looking to a different place for a reaction. He's not as dumb as he comes off sometimes, reactions to his statements pay his bills.
  18. I believe UND has/had interest in Rayshawn Tiller, Jr out of Jacksonville, FL though not sure what to make of it at this point.
  19. 0-3 against UND in his Western Washington head coaching days.
  20. He is also a Youngstown State alum which I'd guess is his tie-in to Tressel and Ohio State.
  21. Agree on that, but just for fun, the two most interesting ones to me just from the information provided are: -Nicholas Siciliano, (most recent job) offensive assistant coach with Cincinnati Bengals (also was quarterbacks coach at Ohio State from 2005-2012) -Jamie Marshall, (current job) assistant head coach/defensive coordinator at Montana State Haven't looked to see what others have for experience in their background. Hopefully there are some with a decent resume other than their current jobs, otherwise some of those guys are going waaaaaay out on a limb.
  22. Usually only in circumstances where the program has been placed under sanctions or there were serious issues with what was going on within the program. I can't see any waivers like that being granted in this case. The coach was fired, same thing that happens at multiple schools every year. All players will have to sit out a year if they transfer within the FCS or to an FBS school, they will be eligible to play immediately if they transfer down. For example: Cole Stefan for the MBB team got a waiver to play this year, but he had to petition for it due to some issues with the UW-GB coach (5 players left the team this spring). The waiver was not granted up front and he just received it last week. In the case of Penn State (which has absolutely zero in common with happened at UND) the NCAA said that all players were eligble to transfer and play immediately without sitting out due to the sanctions handed down.
  23. I agree on letting it play out, but looking back at the poster's past information, it has been pretty accurate.
  24. Interesting if true. He already used his redshirt year up meaning if he transfers to a FCS or FBS school he has to sit out next season (junior year) and would then only have one year to play. Really worth giving up one of your last two years of eligibility to sit out? I'm still holding out that it might not be true, but it looks like Sioux10Fan has been pretty accurate in the past. I'm more concerned about some of the younger guys who would have 2-3 years left in another place if they transferred or players that haven't used their redshirt years yet.
