Not technically in the 2013-2014 class, but Carson Shanks, 7-0 C originally from Apple Valley, MN who was red-shirting at Utah State has left their program. He is looking at transferring closer to home. We had an offer out to him in high school.

Thanks for your valued input. 95-77.

Not sure if you are specifically referencing me as one of those people, but here is my answer: I'm not hating on Bubba, I think he is a great finalist candidate, wouldn't be surprised if he got the job and would support him 100%. I'm just trying to figure out where people are coming from when they say he is head and shoulders above DeBoer? They keep referencing that his players won a title at Duluth after he left and that he didn't do as well with his players because he played in a tougher conference. Both valid poitns, but I think I am more impressed with how well he did as a DC at UND than anything he did at Duluth outside of the head coaching experience he got. I do think Bubba would bring in a stronger staff and would be more long term. Just curious, I keep seeing people say that UND is Bubba's dream job, yet the only place I can find reference to that is here. Is that something that he has actually said to people or just what people are assuming? I really don't know.

Not sure where I said they had. You asked what the opinion of UND being better than the Jacks was. I was pointing out that UND light up what is predicted to be the top team in the Summit. And in Brookings (where SDSU is very good), they lost to what is predicted to be a team equal with UND. UND historically plays very well at home and despite that, I said if they played like they did on the road the last few weeks SDSU would win. What is your reasoning that SDSU is better than UND since you seem to be surprised that people (on a UND fan board) think UND is the better team in a game being played in Grand Forks?
-
No problem, can see where that was confusing and I clarified it in the original post.

I wasn't talking about what Shaugs said, I was referring to gfhockey's tweet to Golladay. I agree with you and have absolutely zero issue with Shaugs' tweet.
-
Still doesn't make it right for a fan to tweet at college kid calling him out. Just saying...
-
Irrelevant. God hates Cleveland.
-
I will clarify that I was talking about his overall record which was 22-21, average. And it was in his second correct? So for the most parts, not his recruits? And again, I think he would be a very good choice but saying his recruits won a title after he left and he didn't do better as a head coach because he played in a tougher league isn't the most convincing argument.
-
So Bubba was an average (literally) coach in a tough league but his recruits dominated a lesser league. Got it. Good thing UND got into Pioneer League...
-
That's a fair point. Bubba brought in talent that dominated the NSIC after he left. He was still 4-6 his last year and was 22-21 overall. Despite that, I still think he would be a great hire, but cherry picking facts isn't the way to convey that.
-
UND boat raced the top Summit team in Grand Forks. Montana beat the Jacks in Brookings. That being said, SDSU has looked like they are figuring it out and if UND plays like they have been on the road, the Jacks will win.
-
So Bubba couldn't coach the talent he brought in? They were 4-6 his last year with basically a team full of his players. They improved to 15-0 the year after he left. Your hyperbole really hurts the legitimate points you occasionally have.

Oddly enough, I was having very similar thoughts earlier this week. Only other schools that use it are Elon and UW-GB.
-
Off-chance in our lifetime? Hope that was said sarcastically. At minimum the top 2 if not 3 and some years 4 teams from the Big Sky make the playoffs.
-
You also have to think that both guys have some eyes on and contact with some guys that they are or wanted to recruit that they would be able to get. Not like they haven't been on the recruiting trail.
-
And incredibly inaccurate.

Just moved to the CAA from the Big South. A home and home was probably one of the easier ways to get 6 home games this year. Assures that there will be only 5 home games in 2016 though. USD + 4 conference at home with 4 conference games on the road and at Bowling Green and at Stony Brook. Next year's schedule looks good with trips to San Jose St and Missouri State and Robert Morris and Stony Brook at home for OOC. Glad Faison went 12 games.
-
Your sources also told there would be a hire last Wednesday and then Friday and also there was five finalists not two. I'll take it with a grain of salt. Also, what if Bubba's defenses perform like they have at SIU, poorly and worse than DeBoer's offenses? I'll support whoever the choice is and am excited for them to return it back to where it belongs.

UND could send a thank you note to NDSU as his salary would be more than covered and UND would not owe Mussman anything.
-
Part of it was his total compensation package did not include gate revenues (3%) like Bohl's did and it was made up in other areas including base. If they wanted Klieman to stay instead of go to Wyoming, they had to make it worth his while which they did. I thinK Klieman will be a good coach, but there again, he needs to bring in a good assistant staff. With a decent pool, he will likely be able to attract some good talent.
-
You thought 9 head coach interviews was a lot to sort through? With the generic requirements for the assistant coach position, to get some of the guys you want to hire, can you imagine how many applicants you would have to go through if it was open for over a month due to the point system they have to work through? The position closes on 12/30. Well under 2 weeks from when the new coach will be hired. Do I think it could have been posted a week sooner? Definitely. No clue why they waited to pull down the head coaching one before the assistant coaching one was put up. I think a fair question to ask is why does the Assistant Coach position only need to be posted for 10 days rather than 15? Different categorization within the University?
-
If they hiring committee wasn't able to start the process until the opening's deadline, then no, it wasn't going to be done the day after the deadline, especially having to go through the HR stuff on top of the interview process. Apparently it took a week. If a guy is going to assemble his staff and get the majority of his guys that he wants, you have to give him some time to put that together. You would have a hard time convincing guys to apply for a job with only a chance that the guy who is asking him is going to get the head coaching job. Otherwise you run into a lot of people putting their names out there (due to open record laws) only having them pull out while possibly offending their current employer. Could it have been put out a week or so ago? Possibly, but no way is it posted at the same time.

Very, very interesting....... Head coach job is no longer posted on UND's website.....but an opening for an Assistant Coach was posted yesterday. I'd assume that means expect an announcement soon as a decision has been made. Bubba or DeBoer?
-
They fired a coach with 2 years remaining in his contract, basically eating up to $175K. They went digging and found more money to pay a head coach and assistants. Seems like if they weren't serious they wouldn't have done either of those things.
