  1. Not sure exactly what you're trying to say but Buning did not hire Mussman.
  2. Haven't heard from any of the Griz faithful yet. I'm sure the sting from two years ago was more than erased last year. Hopefully they bring a decent crowd again. Weather should be a little on the cooler side but plenty warm for some early morning tailgating.
  3. Or predicting it 10 minutes or so after WDAZ posted it on their website...
  4. The MVFC had very, very good OOC results this year, no denying that. But those using this year's results to state how they were robbed out of playoff spots the last couple years is a joke. Pretty sure the MVFC's OOC results last year were right around .500. For the record, here are the MVFC/Big Sky matchups this year with preseason ranks within their respective conferences: Cal Poly (4) - SDSU (2) Weber State (11/12) - NDSU (1) SUU (6/6) - SDSU (2) UND (10/11) - Missouri State (7) Montana (2) - USD (8) NAU (5) - USD (8) Montana (2/2) - NDSU (1) UNC (13) - UNI (3) And just want to point out that two Big Sky teams are the only two teams this far on NDSU's schedule who outperformed the almighty Sagarin rankings...
  5. You predicted UND to lose 38-3. They lost 29-18. They exceeded your prediction by two scores on both sides of the scoreboard. Get some perspective. No one is saying they are satisfied but only being able to see negatives sure must be a terrible way to look at things.
  6. Bubba said Bolduc had been punting well and was staying as the starter.
  7. I fully agree that Jones is fair game from criticism and I am in full agreement with your points. The OOC record is incredibly disappointing, the team seemed to play its best basketball during conference play and tournament time. While the teams might not have been as good, I don't think there were the same issues with the players the first few years he was here compared to what we saw the last two. This year will be a pretty good testing ground for him to prove that. But to say that "if he lays an egg" that he should be fired is not only baseless its not even realistic.
  8. Won't argue that point, but it was the way to get a couple guys to commit that may not have, offer them playing time right away and a chance to do something special their last two years. They almost accomplished it but fell short. I think that the classes are slowly getting balanced out from the "all-in" plan. Seems that the majority of the transfers were an attempt at a quick-fix down low. Had Brekke not gotten hurt a few different times, I think one or two of those transfers don't come to UND. I think the team will surprise some this year and make some noise. May not finish as high in the standings or make it as far in the conference tournament, but will do better than where they are being projected.
  9. So you wanted him coaching for his job after the first year in the Big Sky where he finished third, had the best conference record for a first year team and lost in the conference semi-finals in the final seconds? Glad you aren't the AD, UND wouldn't be able to handle the debt they would have acquired from all the buyouts from your knee-jerk reactions. I'm not trying to give Jones a lifetime contract but I am looking at the realities of the situation before I'm going to be publicly stating his job should be on the line.
  10. Brilliant idea to put a coach's job on the line the year after he loses 90%+ of his production to graduation and will have new starters at 3 or 4 new spots minimum.
  11. Both of these are correct. And both were 3 seasons ago. Time to get back to it.
  12. Seriously? Your TV contract is state-wide NBC. It would seem that only people in ND would love that.
  13. They should probably do the right thing and just give him the bonus instead of trotting him out there on short rest, even if its only for an out or two. He does have an injury history. The goodwill from paying it far outweighs the backlash they'd get from future players and their agents by not paying it.
  14. I thought that bubble popped when every single host on Gameday said that NDSU belongs in the FCS and should stay there?
  15. Not much for changes on the 2-deep this week: Norberg listed as #2 RB behind Garman, Shaugabay removed Reyes listed as #1 SS, Carr to #2 and Dillon Olson removed Deion Harris listed as #2 RCB replacing Maverick Edmunds
  16. Respectfully disagree. UND had 98 yards rushing in the 1st quarter and 131 yards at the half. UND only had 34 yards rushing in the second half, including negative 3 in the 4th quarter.
  17. The effort both on and off the field was a world of difference than what I saw the last year or two.
  18. Incorrect on that. Bubba's comments about not caring about the scoreboard have nothing to do with winning or losing. It is a reference to the effort he wants to see from the team and that they are playing with 100% regardless of the scoreboard. Clearly something that has been lacking the last few years. He specifically made a point to address it as it has been misunderstood multiple times.
  19. Seems like Iowa Preps tweet indicated he was one of the 4 top 10 uncommitted recruits which doesn't seem to mesh with him appearing only on their top 150 list. Prep Hoops Iowa listed him as the #41 player in Iowa. Both of those seem little odd, especially for a 6'4" shooter. Here's a short article on his commitment. Iowa Preps had Seales as a top 10 recruit overall. Regardless, recruiting rankings don't mean much, glad to have them both on the team!
  20. Kind of cherry picking on that. UND was one loss away in one very specific game (first round of the Big Sky tournament vs. Portland State) in order to not have a record that would have got them in to the CIT. If they would have lost that game, even with a better record, I doubt they get invited anyway. And highly doubt that making sure they ended the tournament with a .500 record or better was anywhere near the coach's or team's mind at the time. The team was focused on winning the Big Sky tournament and getting into the NCAA tournament, they ran out of gas and players.
  21. I didn't think FCS carried any games in year 1 of Midco's contract but looking back at the schedule confirms that you are correct and they were. My mistake on that part.
  22. In terms of revenue, in 2012 Midcontinent signed a deal and is now producing games and paying UND $1 million over 5 years when previously UND was producing the games and not getting paid. This caused part of the problem from UND not being on FCS anymore. In 2013, Midcontinent reached a deal with FCS last year to telecast select UND sporting events but the NCHC CBS deal prevented the men's hockey from being shown on FCS. The athletic department and NCHC have continued to work to improve it and from all indications, it looks like they have and there will be games available on FCS again. Should be best of both world's: UND getting paid by Midcontinent, games being broadcast locally on Midco and nationally on FCS along with the streaming package being sold by UND/NCHC.
  23. That's a lot of scoring in a short time period. Edit: Also a why I think something like that would be shortened to Nokes unofficially, you are correct both are handful to say.
  24. Really starting to like Nokotas / Nokes. It's unique and has ND ties. Lot of possibilities with a logo, though the logo wouldn't end up being as unique as the name.
