We got a ballgame. Will be up to ISU's defense to make a stop or big play. Wentz had made some plays with extra effort but it also cost him a fumble.
-
Actually you are correct. No faceguarding in college. Good game so far. ISU should try to catch some of those passes that are hitting them in the hands. Oh and finish your tackles.

I didn't make any predictions. All I stated was that if ndsu was a 7 win team next year, they would get the benefit of the doubt and be in the playoffs. No clue what their actual record will be, don't know who's on their schedule outside of UND.
-
UND looked rusty and half a step behind. Duluth took over in the second period. Getting a few bounces didn't hurt either. Their first goal was a fluke, Crandall tried to get a shot off his own skate but wiffed on it when it came off to hard and went right into Osterberg's stick who proceeded to follow up his goal by looking like a complete clown jumping into the glass near Duluth's bench. Surprised he didn't hurt himself trying to taunt a couple teenage girls. I also can't recall seeing that many players kicked out of a faceoff circle in a weekend let alone a single game. It was unbelievable. Drop the puck already!

Only an 11 game season next year. I'd guess they'd get the benefit of the doubt and be in with 7 wins.

University of North Dakota Hockey 2014-15 season

Hakstol got the injury report from his 6 year old son who was there and reported that "Stecher looked awesome". Hakstol said it will likely still be a few more weeks. -
I actually noticed last night that the new UND basketball jerseys were all Nike and was wondering about this.

I know that in the beginning of the season, watching games was a little tough but I've been kind of underwhelmed from what I've seen so far from Coleman. Guess I'm not sure what expectations from him were but just doesn't seem like he's stood out much when he's been in the game. Maybe I missed something in the first half of the season?
-
Kind of my feelings as well. It is unique and North Dakota ties, two things I'm a fan of. Other than finding them or following a link a while back, I can't take any credit for them, whoever hettinger_rl at sportslogo.net is the one who created them. Link to the UND thread here. Guessing they'd have to be a little careful on adding some feathers as it would start to get the NCAA all worked up by them claiming it to be Native American imagery (see William and Mary's issues). I kind of like how the colors were incorporated into the mane, seems like a work-around of sorts on that.
-
I thought UND's positioning was better than it has been (doesn't take much) but with Sac St shooting 3's and long range jumpers, there were a handful of long rebounds and weird angles that gave Sac St some second chances. Those are frustrating.
-
A couple mock-ups that someone did a while back kind of incorporate the feathers at least in the coloring of the mane. By no means a finished item or anything like that but the guy said when he did it, he tried to incorporate the Bennett Brien logo. I've seen a few other mock-ups that don't use that but when you talk about paying homage, I think these do a pretty good job.

I checked, you were correct and they did have two timeouts remaining. My mistake on that. Personal opinion is that taking a one after the basket doesn't really help you but if you do have two it likely doesn't hurt that much. If you rewatch it (thanks Big Sky TV!), the second the ball went through the hoop, Sac St was sprinting back to prevent anything crossing half court. If you take a timeout, you are going to run into them playing the same defense, with the added bonus of someone probably guarding the guy inbounding the ball as well. Neither scenarios are high percentage but I don't think an open half-court shot is much worse than hoping to catch a baseball pass on the other side of the halfcourt line when that is the only thing being defended and then adding in you hope you can get a shot off the ensuing inbounds.
-
Pretty sure you can't advance the ball with a timeout. You are still going to get a halfcourt shot at best and you're give the defense a little more time to set up along with making sure the guy inbounding the ball is guarded. Not sure UND gets a better shot off taking a timeout. I'm more surprised about not pressing for a 2 for 1 when UND got possession with 52 seconds left. That was disappointing. Had the projected #4 team beat and couldn't close it out.
-
That's pretty funny. They really started off with a doozy on the satire part too!!
-
Personal opinion - I keep being intrigued Nokotas or Wild Nokotas. Can be a little bit of a mouthful when saying the whole thing but I like the options that I've seen for logos and it is definitely unique along with having ties to North Dakota. Can also be shortened up "Nokes" to fill in for where "Sioux" was used in various chants/cheers/etc.

Nice recovery by Nash. Called for a questionable over the back on a tip in. Comes back with a steal and a dunk.
-
Hooker's passing with Shanks' size and moves down low is a fun combo to watch.
-
Looking good pretty good this half. Launched a few poor shots though. Defense looking good. Shanks is a presence down low. Sac has hit some mid- range jump shots. Let them keep shooting those, I can live with getting beat by what is normally a less than ideal shot.
-
Sac St not adjusting well to the touchy reffing. Free throw shooting will be big down the stretch.
-
Right, wrong or indifferent, the way the rule is currently written, it is not an automatic penalty. I wouldn't be surprised to see an alteration of the rule in the off-season.
-
Still wasn't an automatic penalty per the rules.
-
Uhhhh, those guys miss calls too. If you think college officials would come in and automatically be better, you don't understand how the refereeing hierarchy works. Refs are graded on every game. The good ones get more assignments and playoff games. None of them are going to catch everything especially with how fast the game happens. And while there were no D-1 refs, the replacement guys sure did an excellent job during the referee lockout a few years ago didn't they?

You lose a lot of credibility by making things like this up.
