  1. From experience, this happens out of Fargo just as much Grand Forks. And it is not fun regardless of where it happens at.
  2. Landry spending a week in Grand Forks had zero to do with anything mentioned.
  3. I don't necessarily agree with this sentiment but two ND and one SD commit coming in.
  4. Yeah, this it ain't it.
  5. Great example of considering the source.... They aren't getting 9 new gates, let alone terminals, and the project, which was already approved, is definitely not $955 million. The $10 million grant is part of the federal cost share part of the project that is already known and just helps the project get started.
  6. First, consider the source. It definitely seems to be more sensationalized from any of the versions I've heard. The end result was likely best for everyone in the long run, even if it meant losing the OC. And before the random arguments come up, I'm not saying that I think losing the OC was good for the very near future. Also, no clue if there is an actual extension in the works (even though some have decided it is apparently already done since its been brought up for the last two months). Even if there is, as was already stated, it doesn't mean anything until we see the actual details of what would be in any sort of extension. If it is a multi-year extension with full buyout, that's significantly different than an extension in years only with an easy buyout for UND that on the surface shows long-term stability to help with recruiting, which these days includes new recruits and keeping your own players on your team.
  7. The first year was a mess but it was sold out last season (and possibly the season before) and both UND (higher priced tickets) and the Alerus Center (sponsorship) are making more money off of it.
  8. He makes ~80% of what his counterparts in Fargo and Brookings make. Not sure about the new guy at USD, but guessing on par with him.
  9. Can't see any reason to even consider that but I bet it would raise more money than yours did.....
  10. You mean the guy who's worked his way onto two FCS advisory committees? Maybe you should start a gofundme to buy a clue... https://fightinghawks.com/news/2023/10/27/general-bill-chaves-named-to-pair-of-football-championship-subdivision-committees.aspx
  11. Not sure who that refers to but just another example of arguing against points no one is making. Didn't mean to hurt your feelings by posting your own comments, but my apologies.
  12. This you? Given Howe's on-field accolades, knowledge of the game and the above statement, seems pretty obvious that you feel you know more about football than he does. I know you have a few other gems stating that you know more than most but this one makes me chuckle. I should note you never did follow through with that, but I don't think anyone was shocked. Maybe "any day" will come soon enough.
  13. Maybe you're right, maybe you aren't. You've managed to do both plenty of times, so not real concerned on your self-proclaimed expert opinion. We all get it, you don't like the current head coach. You've made it very clear. And I don't think anyone has argued that you don't have some valid reasons to be frustrated. Just because others don't think burning down the program in order to feel vindicated about our "personal feels" or that change guarantees any sort of success doesn't mean they care less than you or aren't working behind the scenes to make meaningful changes.
  14. What exactly will he be right or wrong about? A whole bunch of vague, cryptic comments with no substance? Seems like there should actually be something to be right or wrong about.
  15. Even referencing something like that is going to make some head veins bulge and start off a whole new wave of made up arguments...
  16. No mention of Red Panda halftime show yet??
  17. Hopefully. Haven't watched SDSU to know if that is part of Mayo's game, but Tyree and Mayo are listed as pretty much the same size and DWT caused a few issues down the stretch. It wasn't all-world defense and not sure if he was on him earlier in the game while Mayo was going off for 35 but regardless, but seemed to make some decent plays when it counted.
  18. He played some really good defense on Mayo towards the end of the game last night. Definitely helped them come out on top. Assuming he isn't asked to be "away" from the team again....
  19. A true good 'ol boy would know that Bonzer's opens well before that...
  20. Honest question: What exactly does this look like? Only curious because I've never seen anything similar for the hockey program. I can't recall seeing anything like that from either of the XDSU's (unless it is related to facilities, which I know UND has done as well). I've listened to the AD and multiple head coaches speak plenty of times. Plenty of different settings whether it be Alumni events, booster luncheons, University sponsored gatherings. In various ways, I've heard them lay out what their expectations are and what they feel they need to do to accomplish it. Depending on the setting, sometimes they are pushing to raise more money as some of that vision requires more money. What are you actually looking for when you say "show me the plan"? I honestly don't know what it is exactly you say you're looking for and how you want/expect it to be delivered and I'm curious how it relates to things that maybe are already happening, just not being put out there in the way you expect it to be.
  21. Again, I said they absolutely should have won. Doesn't change the fact that they still had the worst draw in the first round. Making your own luck only goes so far. Not even taking into account that rules were changed two separate years for two separate things after how the playoff selection shook out, that's a bit beyond making "petty excuses". If acknowledging the deck has been stacked against them multiple times by pointing out facts, despite saying the team still needs to show up and overcome, is considered making "petty excuses" then whatever I guess. The world isn't black and white, it's OK to accept more than one thing can be true at the same time.
  22. Don't disagree, but it is an absolute fact that UND has also absoultely gotten the short-end the last two years with their draws. Getting completely screwed by not having a home game and playing the de-facto #9 seed on the road despite having a higher bid when they were nowhere near the last team selected in 2022. Last year, even though they should have won and at least got a home game, Sac St was easily the toughest draw in the highest ranked match-up while a bunch of east coast cupcakes got to play each other. Add in having to get dressed in tents at McNeese in 2019 and you really start scratching your head. Two of those three literally caused rules to be changed because they were so egregious. I know plenty will jump all over that about making excuses and I will absolutely be clear even getting a fair draw in the first round doesn't you past the second round (nor does blowing a lead against Richmond at home!), but to pretend UND's playoff draws have been anything but a joke over the last few years have not helped build some momentum and improved the results also isn't realistic.
  23. Having personally talked to at least one of the individuals you referenced, along with a handful that are still with the program who also gave insight, saying that is a "mixed narrative" is 100% accurate. It was a combination of a bunch of different things, each situation different than the other. Similar to what happens to plenty of coaches at programs across the country. No disagreement on timing, who left, when the they left, where they left to, replacements leaving among other things doesn't feel like an absolute gut punch that has piled up. However, I think UND has done a pretty good job in identifying talented people to fill those spots the last few years. Very much hoping that trend continues. The schedule is not going to be any sort of walk in the park and most understand what is on the line. To be very clear, my loyalty isn't to a head coach or the staff in general. It is to what is best for the program within the realm of being realistic. To that point, whether buying out the current coach, who has solidly put the program well into the top 12-15 programs over the past 5 years but hasn't been able to take it one step further yet, it is also not a realistic outcome for a handful of reasons. So I don't view it as an option. That conversation absolutely changes after the coming season. And again, that isn't a secret.
  24. No arguments from me on that. So hypothetically bad at recommending people for jobs, good at being a motivational speaker? Maybe UND can hire him as a consultant similar to what NDSU had a few years back, just with fewer illegal supplements being given to the players...
