  1. The changing narrative has me confused what I'm supposed to think about Montana. In 2016 the narrative was that UND was "lucky" to not have them on the schedule. Montana ended the season at 6-5 (including a win over UNI) and 3-5 conference record. In 2018, they will finish at 7-4 or 6-5 (including a win over UNI) and either 5-3 or 4-4 in conference play but somehow they aren't even considered a quality team. No sort of double standard going on there...
  2. Montana's new coach reminds me alot of one of their old coaches.
  3. Agree 1000%. My post was made in jest. After sitting through the AD interviews, Mike was likely a close second, just didn't have quite the experience he needed. He's working very closely with Chaves on HPC Pt. II which is Priority 1 and I think Mike will be a huge asset on that front.
  4. I mean, you literally said it was a tie and his connections were simply the only tie-breaker. That's the issue I had with your statement, inferring that he didn't actually win the job, he just got it by default, which isn't accurate. That was directed at a specific poster, not you.
  5. UND is obviously only capable at hiring from within the family instead of the best candidate. No other way to explain Mike Mannausa as the new athletic director.
  6. Preferable to throwing nonsense out there just to stir the pot.
  7. Claiming that the interview was a tie and Bubba got the job strictly because he has local ties based on absolutely nothing isn't critical thinking. Claiming the other candidate would have had more success also isn't critical thinking, it's pure conjecture. Bubba was here when UND was successful. Anyone who's talked to him knows the passion he has for UND and how much he wants the University to be successful. It doesn't take "critical thinking" to understand how those things are going to come through in an interview.
  8. He's been coaching for over 20 years now. Did a helluva job at EMU making $150K and got a nice promotion to OC at Fresno. He also has a pretty damn good HC who knows a thing or two about offenses helping him out right now. Pretty remarkable turnaround at Fresno with Tedford at the helm. None of which proves he would or wouldn't have been a successful head coach at the FCS level. He did extremely well at the NAIA level after taking over a powerhouse (before they started changing their eligibility rules). Plenty of examples on both sides of success and failures from coordinators moving to head coach.
  9. I get the venting. I'm just as frustrated as the rest of the fans. And it pales in comparison to where the staff and team are at. My issue is people stating 100% speculation or opinion as facts when there is absolutely no backing to the comments.
  10. Two finalists does not mean they were equal and there was a tie-breaker used. I didn't sit in on those interviews but I'm going to take an educated guess that Bubba probably interviewed better along with laying out a better plan on how to get UND back to where they should be. Well, that settles it then... I'd assume none of those were people that have ever expressed their desire for Hak or Berry to be fired are they?
  11. "Many" meaning who? People on this board who have continually proven how they never get anything wrong? And where was it disclosed that it was a tie between Bubba and Kalen and there was an arbitrary tie-break of "local connections" used? I didn't see that in the press release.
  12. Yep, you're right. I recall him being more open than that.
  13. I don't know how good his hands are, but I thought it was an appropriate call. Box was stacked keying on Brady, the only healthy running back. Not sure if there was a TE option on the play as well but that's a lot of bodies to get through. The play was there, the throw wasn't.
  14. With under 4 minutes left and up by 3, UND ran a play-action to the fullback on 2nd and 9 with a stacked box on a sideline wheel route that was wide open, the pass was just a bit long. UND also went for the jugular with a deep play-action pass to Maag on 1st and 10 with about 6 minutes left that would have likely iced the game. Had his guy beat like a drum. Ended up being twice as nice because it not only stopped the clock but Maag pulled his hamstring. Ralston is the radio sideline guy. His job is to provide some levity and perspective for fans. Don't confuse that with the staff or players being satisfied.
  15. Couldn't be further fun the truth. This is the kind of stuff that's just flat out BS. The players and staff care more than any fan on a message board with all the time and effort they put into entertaining us. Go ahead and ask any of the coaches how they feel about the season next time you see them. I can promise you that you aren't going to an answer anywhere near that.
  16. I was out there for the UW football game earlier this year (admittedly a slightly different time of the year which could make a small difference) and loved it. There is a ton to do in the downtown and surrounding areas. Would definitely go back again. I do agree to your point that it isn't NYC or DC for "tourist" destination but what is.
  17. I feel like this was discussed a while back. Would be amazing, such a fun city.
  18. Believe what you want, the lease and everything related to it is all public information and clearly states that ownership of the building will convert to UND no later than 9/30/30. Yes, it can be renegotiated but it will have nothing to do with what KEM/REA think or what kind of plan they can come up with. Without UND making the call, they have absolutely zero power to stop the change in ownership. And while I think they should find a way to extend the lease, why exactly would UND be looking to do that with a partner who hasn't listened to input on what they have to say, threw a fit in the media when they tried to renegotiate an annual contract that appeared one-sided and had publicly stated she wants no part of a relationship with the school.
  19. I don't think you understand how the lease/contract on the REA is written and works. KEM/REA Foundation does not have bargaining power on the ownership of the building after 30 years, which will be the difference in those negotiations (and possibly the downfall) as 2030 nears. The lease states the building is to be turned over to UND after 30 years. Period. The only way it would remain as is, is if UND makes a decision that is what they would like to do. No one can say "you can't have the arena". You very well may be right that they don't want to burden of managing it (which would be the ideal situation), but that again is UND's decision to make and from their position, owning the building and having 100% input might be worth the headache.
  20. There's already an operating agreement that's supposed to be negotiated annually.....that didn't go so well last time UND tried to ask for a few changes, I don't have much faith that it would go any better when you're talking control of the whole building. I'm fully with you that turning it over to UND isn't the ideal situation, but even with a decade plus to go, it is on the path to ending poorly. The problem isn't the management company per se.....it is if UND owns it, there is a lot of flexibility lost on the arena and what they are able to do. Some of it good, some of it bad. For example, do you think if UND owned the arena they would have provided financial backing for the MSG or LV games the way the REA was able to? Remember, there was no guarantee of money being made when the contracts were signed and any loss fell back on the REA (and partially the NCHC for the MSG game). The management company also wouldn't have the capital expenditure oversight that currently resides with the REA, that would fall back to UND.
  21. I agree with you on this point. I don't agree with some of the things the REA does or how some of the agreements are set up, but UND would lose a lot of flexibility in how certain things are run. However KEM stating she wants to have no relationship with UND with Kennedy at the helm is almost forcing their hand in taking it that way. Not sure who is to blame, I'm sure there are things on both sides, but this is becoming a bit of a pattern with one of the sides.
  22. Ketteringham is head and shoulders the best QB on the roster. UND finally has some quality backups if QB1 was to go down, but it really isn't even that close and there would be a drop-off.
  23. Including yourself, who answered that bids have already been submitted, before bothering to look up the correct information (from 6 years ago). And again, forms/information were only available 2 weeks ago (10 days at the time of your statement), so the stance that all bids are already in seems like it isn't fully accurate.
  24. The NCHC helped sponsor and put on the New York game, including helping arrange the match-up, so there is a bit of a difference when trying to use that as a comparison. Good chance that game doesn't happen without that backing and it didn't replace anything. Even if you want to claim UND "lost" a home game, as already stated, UND hosted the HoF game that year, so they picked up an exempt game anyway that replaces any potential loss. At this point, UND/REA probably feels pretty confident they can put the games on themselves and collect more of the revenue.
