    On To UNC

They must have stuck them on the bus with the football team, three to a seat.
  2. They actually should but that's a completely separate topic. Interesting that people think a decade plus for the 3rd, 4th and 5th most popular programs on campus not having any sort of video or replay board is no big deal but don't bat an eye to replace 7 year old boards at a cost of 6-7x as much. No ones arguing MIH place in the hierarchy but the funds UND pays the REA is what pays/paid for the Betty. There hasn't been much for investment in it since it was built outside of the video board a dozen years later.

    Day By Day

They at least tried, he had the ball in his hands, in the end zone on the third down play and couldn't bring it in.

Santiago didn't play much after he got tackled into a bench on the ISU sideline.
  5. Don't disagree, which is why the Alerus Center needs to spread them out instead of putting them just on the edges. I do agree, a lot will probably throw them on the ground regardless.
  6. New makes it sound like they were replacing old ones. More accurately, the Betty finally got video replay boards after not having them the first 12 years it was open.
  7. The NCAA has no issues with UND using or displaying the logo in historical reference, seems like trying to make something out of nothing. They are recognizing all-time greats, not a ton of other picture of them to use.
  8. Knew there was something on them, thanks for the clarification.
  9. Two decent D1 non-conference home games. Guessing we'll see some sort of return from Utah Valley, Montana State and/or UT Rio.
  10. "No point in putting extra funds into the MBB program, they saw no benefits from making the big dance. Just a random coincidence that they got a 3/4* recruit over multiple P5 schools the next signing period, winning the conference tournament absolutely didn't help at all" -Someone, probably
  11. You can get a general idea on what the balance of the reserve fund is by looking at the tax returns.
  12. I guess we'll have to disagree. They also leave them piled up towards the front and for the most part expect people to come get their own but don't convey that message. They also use to have the huge gray garbage carts, similar to what's near the entrances. put about 8 of those in the student section and my guess there would be some improvement. However, some own't care and continue to just throw their trash on the ground.
  13. Of course they do. Why would they invest in the equipment for something that is needed 5-6x per year? Bigger issue seems like there weren't enough garbage cans again (despite saying they doubled the amount). They need to make more of an effort to put the large ones in the student area and everywhere for that matter instead of hoping people come get them from where they have them lined up. Wind didn't help matters either, but whatever. Something for people to complain about. Everyone near us seemed to go out of their way to clean up their area. Possibly on a few of the recruiting services. Either way, point stands that he was a huge get for the MBB team.
  14. How much of a game changer the donation that Ralph made actually was? Yes, it does.
  15. So if new (or at least non-condemnable) facilities aren't so integral in bringing in top end recruits, please explain the multiple locker room renovations that have occurred at the REA since it was opened 17 years ago. But somehow facilities have no bearing on anything.... Pull the once-in-a-multi-generational donor out of the equation and I would think that football alumni have given much more back to their program than UND hockey alumni have. Continuing to include Ralph's donation when comparing to other sports (or pretty much any other athletic department out there) isn't valid argument. It's the equivalence of hitting the lottery and then looking down people because they don't have the means you do....... ....and then taking 52% of their revenue on top of it..... UND and the hockey program got an incredible gift and everyone is thankful for it. However disagreeing about how the extra revenues it generates is fair game, particularly as the rest of campus sees massive budget cuts. No one is suggesting slashing the hockey program's budget but commentary on how the REA isn't out of line.
  16. Yet the REA still needs to take 52% of the ticket revenue from the football program just to stay afloat! Those 7 year old video boards are really showing their age, glad they have the funds sitting around to update those before they hit double digits in age. Just think, the cost of the new boards would have almost covered 2 more seasons of WIH....
  17. It clearly didn't hurt helping them get a 3* recruit that had offers from Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Wichita State and LSU among others.
  18. Won't even use half of their cash/reserves and that was using 2017 numbers.

    2018 Season

This is not new and has been the case for at least the last year or two. It will still sell out or be close.
  20. You don't think there will be a vote??
  21. Sue is the front-runner and it isn't even close. Hopefully it doesn't make the ballot. Agreed. Tons of positive reaction from kids at the game.

    2018 Season

You aren't wrong and I was more just making light due to people's reaction to John always running up the middle and then complaining that he was only getting the ball on the outside. From the UNDFootball360 guys:
  23. That's unreal, third consecutive season he's had a season ending injury. Hurt in the 2nd, 5th and 3rd games of the last three seasons. Actually was getting looked at by some scouts. Feel terrible for the kid, wonder if he applies for a medical red-shirt.

Alternatively: Fans - "Quit running Santiago up the gut!" Also Fans - "Quit tossing it to Santiago on the edge where he has space to operate!" That being said, I know the pitch play is run out of various formations and blocking schemes, but some of them leave a bit to be desired on timing and development of the plays. But it does give John a chance to read his blocks and find a crease, which is how he sets up the big plays.
