Not actually. That was 08-09. You guys were #3 when you came to Grand Forks to play us, we swept you and exposed the weaknesses, then you swept SCSU after that and collapsed after that, lost to UMD at the Final Five and missed the NCAA tournament. You were ranked Number 1 that year in November I believe for a week. Point being is you were not #1 that whole season, actually you hardly were ranked #1 at all. You guys had a good start and then fell apart during the stretch run. The two teams that were number one that whole season were Boston University and Notre Dame. BU won the natty.

I'M A TOOLBAG? Ha. That's funny. I didn't realize one can be a toolbag for repeating what's been said. It's called sarcasm bud.
-
This statement is ironic as it sounds to me like you're the one on the high horse. In fact, you sound like a Gopher fan that told me to get off welfare because I can't get a better cable package.
-
I'll take a sweep so we can shut their tool-bag fans up. Considering we're cellar dwellers and a "bye week" for the Gophers and all....
-
I'd chime in more here, but I don't feel the need to defend a situation that is pretty common knowledge, to a Rodent fan. When have Rodent fans ever believed anything we said anyways?
-
Yes you do. You're a Gopher fan, so quit pretending your not. On a side note, most of Anchorage's fans don't sit by the ice at the games. I have friends who went to the series up there a few years ago and I asked my friend about that and she said she observed that as well, so it may just LOOK like no ones there on TV. No clue why they want to be so far from the action though. But they have never gotten good attendance.

Paul Kelly (College Hockey Inc) had a radio interview with a radio station in Toronto, I believe, about this situation, and he said he would be SHOCKED if Schmaltz breaks his commitment. I guess he knows the Schmaltz family really well. He also said anyone who says North Dakota doesn't produce NHL talent is full of crap. (paraphrasing). He spouted off all the statistics that Hajdu did on twitter before the radio guy cut him off. Yes, Paul, the Windsor Spitfires are full of crap.
-
That was one of his more mild celebrations. Seen much, much worse from him. I don't have a problem with the kid - nice kid. I just think he over celebrates his goals. Keep it up and he will get killed if you ask me.
-
I still think it's too early to tell with Nick, because he's a 1996 born and the 93s were just drafted this summer. I know he did really well at the Select Camps. But we'll know more about his draft stock once he hits his draft year.
-
He does over-celebrate a bit, doesn't he? After he scores a goal in the same spot as all his other goals... I liked when he got that penalty for embellishment against Duluth. I laughed. Okay, I'm done being mean now.
-
I agree. There are just some people that just won't get behind women's hockey. I'm not one of them, but they are out there.
-
Considering Stanford is up 48-21, I think Luck made it to the game.
-
Wow, are those Spitfire d-bags arrogant or what? That whole article was so condescending it wasn't even funny. Between this crap and the Matteau thing, I think Schmaltz is more likely to come, to be honest, especially with his brother committed and his family connections to UND. I just hope we get one of them here. Oh, and if decommits happen, if they could happen sooner rather than later, that'd be appreciated as well. That or our coaching staff should start over-recruiting to plan for that situation.

Injured. Had surgery in the off season I think i heard. If not, just know he is injured lol.
-
I don't have anything against Kelley as a person. I just don't think trying to control the atmosphere at college hockey games should be in his job description. Some things he has a right to micro manage. I think he should leave hockey alone and leave game atmosphere issues to the REA staff.

I see someone is missing the big picture...

The gophers beating umd doesn't impress me because for the most part, umd doesn't impress me. Didn't last year either. Patterson is fine. Yes he is a top goalie. No problem with that. The gophers can talk about how awesome they are all they want. Defensively not impressed at all, so good luck with maintaining everything.

Sioux Survivor Game #2 for 2011-2012

I'd prefer 120 minutes of pain for Maine....

The NCAA is questioning online courses he took to accelerate his education prior to coming to play in the USHL. Or so I heard.
-
I have a VERY hard time believing that Hakstol would come right out and say a player was in the "doghouse." And I caught most of the post game and I didn't hear that. I heard it in more than one place that the reason for the extra D was because of the injured defensemen.
-
Well, that was obvious when we played with 7 D on Friday... I kind of figured that might have had something to do with the terrible defensive play. Hopefully they heal up soon. We clearly could use some healthy D.
-
I think they're going to have to be split at some point. They're the big three, yeah, but I'm just wondering if the experience of one of those three would be of benefit to playing on a line with a couple of the freshmen. I'm just not sure how I feel about an all-freshman line at this point.

Some of the comments on here are RIDICULOUS. I realize everyone is tired of losing to BC. I am too. But I'm not going to put too much stake in GAME 2. It's not a sprint. I know BC fans want to go on and on about how they have a young team, but that's BS. There's a difference between losing key players and having a young team. BC lost key players. WE lost key players AND have a young team. They had 3 freshmen in the lineup last night. We had like... 7 or 8. BC is a good team and I don't have a problem losing to a good team. I have a problem with the way we did. I agree with what everyone said about certain players and their terrible defense all weekend. It's time to get to work and fix these things. And we will. So to those fans ready to give up on this team in GAME 2, then leave. The boys deserve better than to have fans that so easily give up the faith. This team has not even come close to hitting their stride. It's 2011. Last year's team is just a memory now. We were spoiled last year with that team. But I'm keeping the faith.
-
I don't mean to come across badly here... but it was the first game! Do you honestly think the rest of our team isn't capable of doing any offensive damage down the road? That first line is not going to be our only scoring threat. There's a reason why this team is a work in progress. We were spoiled last year with the team we had. Our coaching staff will evaluate and solve the problems as the season goes on.
