  1. Wow, are those Spitfire d-bags arrogant or what? That whole article was so condescending it wasn't even funny. Between this crap and the Matteau thing, I think Schmaltz is more likely to come, to be honest, especially with his brother committed and his family connections to UND. I just hope we get one of them here. Oh, and if decommits happen, if they could happen sooner rather than later, that'd be appreciated as well. That or our coaching staff should start over-recruiting to plan for that situation.
  2. Injured. Had surgery in the off season I think i heard. If not, just know he is injured lol.
  3. I don't have anything against Kelley as a person. I just don't think trying to control the atmosphere at college hockey games should be in his job description. Some things he has a right to micro manage. I think he should leave hockey alone and leave game atmosphere issues to the REA staff.
  4. I see someone is missing the big picture...
  5. The gophers beating umd doesn't impress me because for the most part, umd doesn't impress me. Didn't last year either. Patterson is fine. Yes he is a top goalie. No problem with that. The gophers can talk about how awesome they are all they want. Defensively not impressed at all, so good luck with maintaining everything.
  6. I'd prefer 120 minutes of pain for Maine....
  7. The NCAA is questioning online courses he took to accelerate his education prior to coming to play in the USHL. Or so I heard.
  8. I have a VERY hard time believing that Hakstol would come right out and say a player was in the "doghouse." And I caught most of the post game and I didn't hear that. I heard it in more than one place that the reason for the extra D was because of the injured defensemen.
  9. Well, that was obvious when we played with 7 D on Friday... I kind of figured that might have had something to do with the terrible defensive play. Hopefully they heal up soon. We clearly could use some healthy D.
  10. I think they're going to have to be split at some point. They're the big three, yeah, but I'm just wondering if the experience of one of those three would be of benefit to playing on a line with a couple of the freshmen. I'm just not sure how I feel about an all-freshman line at this point.
  11. Some of the comments on here are RIDICULOUS. I realize everyone is tired of losing to BC. I am too. But I'm not going to put too much stake in GAME 2. It's not a sprint. I know BC fans want to go on and on about how they have a young team, but that's BS. There's a difference between losing key players and having a young team. BC lost key players. WE lost key players AND have a young team. They had 3 freshmen in the lineup last night. We had like... 7 or 8. BC is a good team and I don't have a problem losing to a good team. I have a problem with the way we did. I agree with what everyone said about certain players and their terrible defense all weekend. It's time to get to work and fix these things. And we will. So to those fans ready to give up on this team in GAME 2, then leave. The boys deserve better than to have fans that so easily give up the faith. This team has not even come close to hitting their stride. It's 2011. Last year's team is just a memory now. We were spoiled last year with that team. But I'm keeping the faith.
  12. I don't mean to come across badly here... but it was the first game! Do you honestly think the rest of our team isn't capable of doing any offensive damage down the road? That first line is not going to be our only scoring threat. There's a reason why this team is a work in progress. We were spoiled last year with the team we had. Our coaching staff will evaluate and solve the problems as the season goes on.
  13. BC looked average in their game. I think it'll be another close one. Hopefully our home ice advantage can turn the tide in our favor.
  14. I didn't have a beer during the game tonight guys. I'm sorry. I had a headache. I know the boys always play better when I have a beer during the game. I will have a beer at the Ralph tomorrow.
  15. Don't see how, academically, that's possible. Maybe at Christmas break. Just going to have to tough it out and hope for no injuries and go with what we got.
  16. what is with the clearinghouse this year? that's 3 players that i'm aware of set to play D1 hockey and are sitting around on campus going to school waiting to be cleared.... you'd think they could do this stuff sooner ...
  17. You have to let your kids make their own decisions though or they'll never grow up. I'm sure that was the case here. What kind of parent forces their kid in one direction or the other?
  18. Um.... we had this many freshmen 2 years ago. Just saying....
  19. I wish we would have won by more than that....
  20. I don't even know who to pick anymore. All my go-to's are gone. Time to find some new go-to's. So I'll take a freshie ... um... Mark MacMillan. He's supposed to be a natural goal scorer. we'll see I guess.
  21. People from opposing fanbases will find any excuse in the world to de-value our team. Grimaldi has strong beliefs. Personally, I don't see that as a bad thing. I think it's good to have a guy who has an opinion and sticks by it no matter how unpopular it might be. It's why he is here. He'd been pressured to the WHL for how long and he stuck by his decision unlike most of his peers this summer. And he seems to have been well liked at the ntdp, so I don't see that changing here. If opposing fanbases want to think he'll be a cancer, that's fine. Hopefully we'll send their teams home pissed off later.
  22. And then they won't play because they're over-recruiting and they'll leave after a year or two.... You have to wonder at what point do they not have room for all of them.... especially the top end guys they're getting that won't be satisfied with 4th line minutes. Of course, I don't know when all these kids are scheduled to come, but wouldn't Guertler, Letteri, Fasching and Cammarata all be the same year? They must be projecting a lot of early departures.
  23. Personally, I think the coaches had an inkling about what direction he was going to go. How could they not, considering the bloodlines? It's probably why they offered him the scholarship in the summer. The Gophers don't usually offer stuff to Minnesota kids too early since they (in my opinion) are arrogant enough to think they can get any Minnesota kid they want. (Which, history shows, is kind of true). Nothing against Vinni, but if I had to pick between the other names mentioned, he wouldn't be first on my list. There were 2-3 other players on his own team last year that I liked better. He's just a little inconsistent at times IMO.
  24. Having seen the kid play A LOT last year ... I'm not that disappointed about it.... There are indeed bigger fish.
