  1. You have to let your kids make their own decisions though or they'll never grow up. I'm sure that was the case here. What kind of parent forces their kid in one direction or the other?
  2. Um.... we had this many freshmen 2 years ago. Just saying....
  3. I wish we would have won by more than that....
  4. I don't even know who to pick anymore. All my go-to's are gone. Time to find some new go-to's. So I'll take a freshie ... um... Mark MacMillan. He's supposed to be a natural goal scorer. we'll see I guess.
  5. People from opposing fanbases will find any excuse in the world to de-value our team. Grimaldi has strong beliefs. Personally, I don't see that as a bad thing. I think it's good to have a guy who has an opinion and sticks by it no matter how unpopular it might be. It's why he is here. He'd been pressured to the WHL for how long and he stuck by his decision unlike most of his peers this summer. And he seems to have been well liked at the ntdp, so I don't see that changing here. If opposing fanbases want to think he'll be a cancer, that's fine. Hopefully we'll send their teams home pissed off later.
  6. And then they won't play because they're over-recruiting and they'll leave after a year or two.... You have to wonder at what point do they not have room for all of them.... especially the top end guys they're getting that won't be satisfied with 4th line minutes. Of course, I don't know when all these kids are scheduled to come, but wouldn't Guertler, Letteri, Fasching and Cammarata all be the same year? They must be projecting a lot of early departures.
  7. Personally, I think the coaches had an inkling about what direction he was going to go. How could they not, considering the bloodlines? It's probably why they offered him the scholarship in the summer. The Gophers don't usually offer stuff to Minnesota kids too early since they (in my opinion) are arrogant enough to think they can get any Minnesota kid they want. (Which, history shows, is kind of true). Nothing against Vinni, but if I had to pick between the other names mentioned, he wouldn't be first on my list. There were 2-3 other players on his own team last year that I liked better. He's just a little inconsistent at times IMO.
  8. Having seen the kid play A LOT last year ... I'm not that disappointed about it.... There are indeed bigger fish.
  9. Have tickets to the Bemidji series. Hopefully will go to the series at Mariucci, the Winnipeg game, and others might be last minute decision. Always wanted to go to Madison but could never find anyone to drag with me.
  10. I'm not going to judge someone I haven't seen play before, but based on what I've heard about St Clair, I agree with this. I see him as more of a 3rd/4th liner. Not sure how much he'll play this year, but I think he'll definitely be an important part of this team over his time here.
  11. Can we camp out in your backyard to save money??!! I'm kidding, obviously. Doesn't look like I will be attending. Started a new job and don't think i will have quite enough vacation time accumulated by then.
  12. Mario has had captain written all over him since like, freshman year. I say he's the C with Blood and Mac the A's. If they give another A I say it's Knight.
  13. Yes they did. He was at their tryout camp earlier this summer if I recall. I wouldn't be surprised if he played for the Force at some point before he comes to UND. (Assuming he doesn't follow a recent trend...)
  14. I'd call the athletic dept before i'd call the ralph. I'd guess with the fire this summer that it might set that back a bit.
  15. Pelnik is playing at Shattuck this year, not Fargo.
  16. This is a couple days old, but good news nonetheless I wonder if since Matteau gave Colten St Clair a bad concussion last year if there is any bad blood. If there is, well, that would be the good part if he decided not to come to UND. That said, I hope there isn't bad blood and that he decides to come. But if not, on to the next best player available.
  17. Luke Voltin went to Hill-Murray. I can't be the only one who thinks their uniforms carry a certain resemblance.... I was wondering when we'd get one of their people. haha.
  18. NO. The Sioux are not ranked third in the nation. The real rankings don't come out for a couple months. The No. 3 ranking is one website's opinion.
  19. actually, he's not with Lake Erie. He just went there on an amateur-tryout after the season. He's actually heading over to Europe somewhere, the last I heard. Thank goodness. Far away from me. He's creepy.
  20. This is kind of redundant, but to get the point across, we don't HAVE any recruits we can bring in early. All of our committed forwards have not yet graduated from high school. And I HIGHLY doubt there is a big time recruit laying around waiting for us to pick him up. We either pick up another depth forward, or go with what we have and pick up a big time recruit for next season. I'm in favor of an extra body, personally. I'm sure the coaching staff has a list of kids they're monitoring and they need to decide if any of them have what it takes to be brought in this year. My 2 cents.
  21. Sorry for wanting to clarify a joke.
  22. Seth Ambroz is not coming to UND. I'm hoping you're not serious.
  23. I think we have to bring in another player, I just don't think there's much options this late in the game. All of our forward recruits aren't out of high school yet, and there's probably not too many caliber kids out there. I say try to nab a few walk ons to get some depth and just go with it. The freshman class as a whole has talent, so we'll probably be okay as long as the upperclassmen can step up and fill some big shoes.
  24. What is this garbage? Recruiting advantage to Hockey East? Give me a f-ing break. The ONLY recruiting advantage Hockey East has is in their own geographical region. Seriously. If a kid in Minnesota, or the Midwest is given a choice between playing for a Hockey East school and one closer to home, where do you think they go? This goes the same for East Coast kids. How many East Coast kids do you see in the WCHA or other schools around here? VERY FEW. Really, I don't think too many prospective recruits care much about name brand conference affiliation. They look at the hockey programs they are looking at playing for and those benefits. The new conference provides better competition than the watered down WCHA without Minny & Wisco does. Because let's face it, without MInny & Wisco in the WCHA you're looking at a league title from UND and DU almost every year. Sure, the other teams are competitive in the WCHA, but for the most part, have not challenged much for league championships. A little arrogant, but given recent trends, it would not be surprising. And why are you so concerned about a TV deal with Versus?
  25. There's talk of Notre Dame wanting to start women's hockey.
