  1. And then they won't play because they're over-recruiting and they'll leave after a year or two.... You have to wonder at what point do they not have room for all of them.... especially the top end guys they're getting that won't be satisfied with 4th line minutes. Of course, I don't know when all these kids are scheduled to come, but wouldn't Guertler, Letteri, Fasching and Cammarata all be the same year? They must be projecting a lot of early departures.
  2. Personally, I think the coaches had an inkling about what direction he was going to go. How could they not, considering the bloodlines? It's probably why they offered him the scholarship in the summer. The Gophers don't usually offer stuff to Minnesota kids too early since they (in my opinion) are arrogant enough to think they can get any Minnesota kid they want. (Which, history shows, is kind of true). Nothing against Vinni, but if I had to pick between the other names mentioned, he wouldn't be first on my list. There were 2-3 other players on his own team last year that I liked better. He's just a little inconsistent at times IMO.
  3. Having seen the kid play A LOT last year ... I'm not that disappointed about it.... There are indeed bigger fish.
  4. Have tickets to the Bemidji series. Hopefully will go to the series at Mariucci, the Winnipeg game, and others might be last minute decision. Always wanted to go to Madison but could never find anyone to drag with me.
  5. I'm not going to judge someone I haven't seen play before, but based on what I've heard about St Clair, I agree with this. I see him as more of a 3rd/4th liner. Not sure how much he'll play this year, but I think he'll definitely be an important part of this team over his time here.
  6. Can we camp out in your backyard to save money??!! I'm kidding, obviously. Doesn't look like I will be attending. Started a new job and don't think i will have quite enough vacation time accumulated by then.
  7. Mario has had captain written all over him since like, freshman year. I say he's the C with Blood and Mac the A's. If they give another A I say it's Knight.
  8. Yes they did. He was at their tryout camp earlier this summer if I recall. I wouldn't be surprised if he played for the Force at some point before he comes to UND. (Assuming he doesn't follow a recent trend...)
  9. I'd call the athletic dept before i'd call the ralph. I'd guess with the fire this summer that it might set that back a bit.
  10. Pelnik is playing at Shattuck this year, not Fargo.
  11. This is a couple days old, but good news nonetheless I wonder if since Matteau gave Colten St Clair a bad concussion last year if there is any bad blood. If there is, well, that would be the good part if he decided not to come to UND. That said, I hope there isn't bad blood and that he decides to come. But if not, on to the next best player available.
  12. Luke Voltin went to Hill-Murray. I can't be the only one who thinks their uniforms carry a certain resemblance.... I was wondering when we'd get one of their people. haha.
  13. NO. The Sioux are not ranked third in the nation. The real rankings don't come out for a couple months. The No. 3 ranking is one website's opinion.
  14. actually, he's not with Lake Erie. He just went there on an amateur-tryout after the season. He's actually heading over to Europe somewhere, the last I heard. Thank goodness. Far away from me. He's creepy.
  15. This is kind of redundant, but to get the point across, we don't HAVE any recruits we can bring in early. All of our committed forwards have not yet graduated from high school. And I HIGHLY doubt there is a big time recruit laying around waiting for us to pick him up. We either pick up another depth forward, or go with what we have and pick up a big time recruit for next season. I'm in favor of an extra body, personally. I'm sure the coaching staff has a list of kids they're monitoring and they need to decide if any of them have what it takes to be brought in this year. My 2 cents.
  16. Sorry for wanting to clarify a joke.
  17. Seth Ambroz is not coming to UND. I'm hoping you're not serious.
  18. I think we have to bring in another player, I just don't think there's much options this late in the game. All of our forward recruits aren't out of high school yet, and there's probably not too many caliber kids out there. I say try to nab a few walk ons to get some depth and just go with it. The freshman class as a whole has talent, so we'll probably be okay as long as the upperclassmen can step up and fill some big shoes.
  19. What is this garbage? Recruiting advantage to Hockey East? Give me a f-ing break. The ONLY recruiting advantage Hockey East has is in their own geographical region. Seriously. If a kid in Minnesota, or the Midwest is given a choice between playing for a Hockey East school and one closer to home, where do you think they go? This goes the same for East Coast kids. How many East Coast kids do you see in the WCHA or other schools around here? VERY FEW. Really, I don't think too many prospective recruits care much about name brand conference affiliation. They look at the hockey programs they are looking at playing for and those benefits. The new conference provides better competition than the watered down WCHA without Minny & Wisco does. Because let's face it, without MInny & Wisco in the WCHA you're looking at a league title from UND and DU almost every year. Sure, the other teams are competitive in the WCHA, but for the most part, have not challenged much for league championships. A little arrogant, but given recent trends, it would not be surprising. And why are you so concerned about a TV deal with Versus?
  20. There's talk of Notre Dame wanting to start women's hockey.
  21. I don't think they'd be visiting UND with or without the new league. Don't they have some sort of unwritten rule about only playing cupcake nonconference opponents at home and not traveling for nonconference road games? And Wisconsin won't be playing us with our current nickname state once they join the Big 10. IMO, this move was something that had to be done once the Big Ten happened. Changes were coming. We couldn't just stay put and do nothing. Being reactive just comes back to bite you in the butt. I'm glad we were proactive, unlike the WCHA administration. On a side note to a previous comment, Hammy is a d-bag and his self-righteous, holier than thou, know-it-all attitude gets on my last nerve. If I felt like getting into a petty, twitter argument with him, I would, but I have more important things to worry about than that.
  22. Andrew MacWilliam and Taylor Dickin will be attending the Maple Leafs prospect camp starting on July 4th. They both attended last year as well. http://mapleleafs.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=567924&navid=DL|TOR|home
  23. I was thinking about this earlier since I can't do anything else since the apt maintenance dude said he'd be by anywhere from 9:30-4:30 to fix my toilet so I can't leave, but I digress. I was thinking that it makes sense for these guys to be pro-CHL and come across like they do because particularly during the 1st round, I believe that was the TSN feed. It makes sense that they say these guys could go CHL to give their viewers in Canada a bite because what do Canadians care about college hockey? But I only saw the replay on the NHL network and that was the TSN feed so I have no idea what was shown on Versus live. The second round was the NHL network feed and came across more pro-college hockey.
  24. I guess I don't recall him saying Miller should go to the OHL. I just remember it being said that he was committed to North Dakota, but also that his rights were owned by Plymouth of the OHL and that it'd be interesting to see what he would do. Maybe I missed something. I was at the draft so maybe I missed it when I re-watched the replay on the NHL network.
  25. supposedly he interviewed really bad at the combine and has a bad work ethic. Sounds like a Gopher hockey player to me. I just kept thinking that had to be why he dropped so low at the draft. I was just sitting there at the draft, really surprised he was dropping so far and all those other Minnesota high school kids went earlier...
