  1. Well, they apparently have one of the 10 best Under 20 teams in the World, so clearly they belong in the tourney if they got in through the qualifying tournament. And on a side note, let's remember that Latvia is in the other pool with Russia, Sweden, and Slovakia (maybe?) so they might not even be the worst team in the tournament.
  2. Forbort had 2 assists in the game. The PK in general was bad, way too passive. Anytime your opponent goes 3 for 3 on the PP, it's not a good sign. But on the bright side, it was only the first game so they have some time to fix that, and I'm sure they will.
  3. .... will not play college hockey.
  4. So I think we need to quite comparing our recruits to the Gophers. You just don't know how a kid is going to be in a couple years down the road. It's not about right now, it's about what you do when you get there. Plus, it's not like Fasching going to the Gophers is a big surprise, and anyone who is surprised, is just out of the loop. There are lots of good players out there, and our coaching staff will find them. We might not have heard very much about them, but they know what they are looking for. Twin Cities kids want to play for the Gophers. We all know that. It's just how it is, and it doesn't matter how bad or good they are.
  5. He's the one that apparently said he wasn't interested in the Gophers this summer because they were going to be playing in an "inferior" conference. It's believed it was a ploy to get the Gophers attention. Or so I've heard.
  6. The Class of 2013 would be this year's junior class, and I'm assuming that's who the poster would be referring to. I haven't seen too many sophomores drawing attention in high school hockey yet, but maybe I'm just missing them. But there are a lot of potential D1 guys in the junior class. So if the poster is referring to the sophomore class (2014), please list some names. I think it's really hard to tell who we are looking at in MN high school hockey unless you're at the games and see a member of our coaching staff there, from there you can usually deduce who they are watching. There's just so many games to watch.
  7. Basically, a year and a half. It'd be like a Jacob Cepis situation. Of course, that's if he enrolled at UND in January.
  8. Clarkson University is in upstate New York. They play in a weaker conference, so it's hard to gauge how they are. I don't really think it will be a blow out, but you never know. They have a 9-7-4 record though, but are under .500 in their league.
  9. More comparable to CC. Maybe with better defense though.
  10. I am not sure if you were aware, so I thought I'd just mention that very few of our players receive 100 % full scholarships. A lot of them are probably around 90% to spread the money around. So I don't think both Saunders and Gothberg will each have a 50/50 scholarship. They'll distribute scholarship money as equitably as they can.
  11. I don't concern myself with other teams.
  12. Agree completely. I think Paul and Luke have more than demonstrated in the USHL that they are good players, no matter who their family relations are to. You don't get a say in who your relatives are. They're good players. Happy to have both coming to UND in a couple years.
  13. I don't know, or care who his grandfather is personally. I do think it's a really off base statement to suggest Paul should, or did, get an offer because of who his grandfather is.
  14. The entire Fargo force team was at the game on Sunday. Met them on our way in.
  15. I'm guessing he's one they are keeping an eye on. I feel like local kids are definitely targets, it just depends on if they are Sioux-caliber players. Alex is young, so I'm sure they'll be monitoring him over the next couple years. He wasn't that noticeable in the game on Friday, but like I said, he's young still and it was his first USHL game. One to watch, for sure.
  16. Blake Clarke was scratched, so I don't think so.
  17. Ladue was one of the kids I was referring to in my above post. But don't think he was the sole interest involved in the game. But definitely one to watch. I like him a lot as well.
  18. I saw both Coach Eades and Coach Jackson at the Fargo Force/Lincoln Stars game last night. I'm sure they wanted to check on Gothberg and Luke Johnson, but Im pretty sure they were looking at some other players as well.
  19. I don't really consider Rocco to be an "incoming" freshman.
  20. Yeah. Omaha beat Bemidji. That hasn't happened in the WCHA since.....
  21. There were a couple times I felt the Gophers shouldn't have gotten the power play out of a situation where players from both teams went to the box. I also thought the calls on us were very nitpicky. Mario's was ridiculous. I can see why he was so mad. The one on Saturday where the Gopher player fell on his own was terrible, but a predictable situation, and that's all I'll say about that. But in general, I don't think penalties were evenly called at all.
