  1. I think I'm the only one not all that enthused about this.
  2. Be careful about doing that though. My advice is to personally call Pembina, write down the name of the person you spoke to that told you this was okay, and when the person at POE asked you who the heck told you this was okay, to give them that individual's name. Had an issue with this a few years ago. Got held up at the border on the way in, and a little bit heading back into the US. So if you decide to do this, leave really early to plan for the delay.
  3. Guertler seems like kind of a douchey player when I've seen him. I don't know if that's what the Gophers are hoping for from him, but when I saw him he seemed to prefer picking fights with guys than anything. Obviously, he's talented, but to be successful in the USHL I think he needs to pick his battles and focus more on winning games than coming across the way he has been. LaDue impresses me because of how much progress he's made in just a few years. Keep getting better like he has, and you can't help but feel pretty good about his potential.
  4. There's too much focus on the high end guys with the high draft stock. You always have to take your chances with them and hope not to get burned. The under-the-radar recruits in the end are what are going to separate teams. Lots of teams have the high end prospects, but most of those guys won't be around 4 years. It's important to find guys that will be around four years to mix with the high end prospects, and progress while they are here. That's why we were so good last year. Guys like Frattin, Malone and Trupp. I'm sure no one thought that much of them when they committed, and I'm sure opinions changed a bit later. That's the key. Lots of good players out there that most of us won't know much about.
  5. They should be looking at the Minnetonka team period. Lettieri gets all the attention, but there are at least 3 other potential D1 recruits on that team.
  6. Not a chance. Ripping up the BCHL is nothing to go straight to the NHL about. Kid's not even drafted. Look at past kids on the Sioux that have ripped up the BCHL. Most were in college at least 3 years.
  7. I don't understand why people assume Mitch would be coming here. In fact, I'd prefer he didn't. If he can't get playing time at SCSU, he's not going to get any at UND, or a lot of other schools in our league. He clearly wasn't willing to work harder to get ice time at SCSU, and that just spells bad work ethic, and that's not going to fly here.
  8. Yes, I knew one of the twins was better than the other, just didn't want to mix it up out loud on the internet and get ripped on lol. Mike's the gem of the three though. Lucia needs to put on some weight. He's skinny. That's why I laughed at a comment on USCHO that said he won't go to college and will make the MN Wild out of camp next year.
  9. You're giving a lecture to brianvf on intelligence? I laughed out loud. In general, the teams in the BCHL are weaker than USHL teams. The depth of players and teams in that league is not as good, which allows for better offensive numbers from that league. There are good players that come from that league, because you can find good players in just about any league. But it's a weaker league than the USHL.
  10. Serious? You're the first Gopher fan I've ever heard list them. Well, the twins at least, heard good things about the younger one.
  11. Max Coatta, Minnetonka. Personal opinion, but he'd be my pick for the top uncommited kid, and he's just a junior.
  12. No kidding. Kids are either going to get pushed back, or not happy with playing time because they'll be on the 4th line. Lucia must be expecting some early departures. Considering most of the recruits they've gotten lately are the same age, and pretty much all forwards.
  13. His brother left DU after a semester, so I"m not sure his experience was real positive.
  14. I agree with everything you said. In regards to some 93s and 94s in MInny, I think a lot of those guys will have to develop in juniors before hitting college. I thought that last year watching high school hockey in MN as well. It's why you don't hear too much about them. I thought last year's senior class in MInny had quite a few solid players that will play D1, but after a couple years of juniors. But I think everyone here only really cares about the so-called "big-time" recruits, the potential high draft picks, and that's understandable. But let's keep in mind some of the under-the-radar guys too. The difference will be if our recruits stay longer than, for example, Minny's. We had a great team last year because we had under-the-radar recruits like Malone, Frattin, and Trupp among others, stay all four years. While Minny's "big" recruits didn't stay more than a couple years. It's why they had struggled. You win with your seniors. We have a few big time recruits coming in, and we'll mix in a few under-the-radar guys we're not as familiar with, and have some solid recruiting classes. Like I said, I think if some more of us had seen some of our recruits play, we'd feel pretty good about our future.
  15. Four former Edina players in this series. Everson brothers for Harvard, and Gleason & Gaarder for us. Who is bringing the cake? I like cake. Sorry, I had to.
  16. If he doesn't go MJ, he'll go right to the NHL.
  17. Yes. I don't think he's the top uncommitted Minnesota HS kid though. One of them, but not the top one.
  18. Well, they apparently have one of the 10 best Under 20 teams in the World, so clearly they belong in the tourney if they got in through the qualifying tournament. And on a side note, let's remember that Latvia is in the other pool with Russia, Sweden, and Slovakia (maybe?) so they might not even be the worst team in the tournament.
  19. Forbort had 2 assists in the game. The PK in general was bad, way too passive. Anytime your opponent goes 3 for 3 on the PP, it's not a good sign. But on the bright side, it was only the first game so they have some time to fix that, and I'm sure they will.
  20. .... will not play college hockey.
  21. So I think we need to quite comparing our recruits to the Gophers. You just don't know how a kid is going to be in a couple years down the road. It's not about right now, it's about what you do when you get there. Plus, it's not like Fasching going to the Gophers is a big surprise, and anyone who is surprised, is just out of the loop. There are lots of good players out there, and our coaching staff will find them. We might not have heard very much about them, but they know what they are looking for. Twin Cities kids want to play for the Gophers. We all know that. It's just how it is, and it doesn't matter how bad or good they are.
  22. He's the one that apparently said he wasn't interested in the Gophers this summer because they were going to be playing in an "inferior" conference. It's believed it was a ploy to get the Gophers attention. Or so I've heard.
  23. The Class of 2013 would be this year's junior class, and I'm assuming that's who the poster would be referring to. I haven't seen too many sophomores drawing attention in high school hockey yet, but maybe I'm just missing them. But there are a lot of potential D1 guys in the junior class. So if the poster is referring to the sophomore class (2014), please list some names. I think it's really hard to tell who we are looking at in MN high school hockey unless you're at the games and see a member of our coaching staff there, from there you can usually deduce who they are watching. There's just so many games to watch.
