Mamba, Midco actually did answer your question, they just should have explained it better. There are three main types of aspect ratios in the US in broadcasting. There is Standard Definition 4x3 which is what Midco currently uses. There is 16x9 Widescreen SD which is what FSSN used. There is 16x9 widescreen HD which is what essentially all HD broadcasts are. For Midco to upgrade to the widescreen SD it would be an expensive temporary upgrade. It is a step back no doubt in the viewing are of the screen. However, it is temporary as it will be broadcast in HD next year. The quality, even on an SD channel will be greatly improved.

I noticed that too. Always the first one up in a guys face. I guess he has a short memory cause he was getting burned all day.

It is a truck production, meaning they likely run triax, meaning the camera operators have no control over white balance. It was much worse last year, as each camera would have a different white balance. Someone in the truck understands shading but it is doubtful they have a person dedicated to it during game play. That is something that is needed if you want all of the cameras to continuously be balanced and adjusted. Many, if not all, of the camera operators are the same as the FSSN broadcasts.

Wait... so you're saying they're improving things as the season goes on? No way... that's not possible. This is the same crew that is completely ignoring every criticism and is just going to put out the worst product ever.
-
This is the first time I've watched the FCS feed and I was expecting it to suck. But this looks better than last years feed. I'm hoping they made changes tonight and this isn't the same quality as previous games, because this feed looks as good as the gopher feed on FCS minus the fact that it is 4x3.

At least pay attention to the game you're bitching about. You have the score wrong and they weren't kicking an extra point.
-
Who is denying the problem?

I'm really excited to see my first UND volleyball match since 2005 next week. Really, really glad UND travels to UNC in several sports each year!
-
I'm not missing the point at all. I'm saying there is 2 1/2 hour minimum broadcast going on. The heart of the broadcast is the game not the pre. period and post game segments. Midco is not the FSSN. It is it's own company that is advertising it's own product.
-
Please leave until that happens. After that, you can come back and post all of the usual crap.
-
I admit I didn't watch the coverage, but how many times during the 2 1/2 hour broadcast did they take that shot? My guess is during each of the two intermissions, but during that time they were likely showing highlights from the UND game they were broadcasting. I guess there is the chance someone tunes in, only watches for 30 seconds, doesn't listen to any of the audio, has no idea who is playing and changes the channel, thus meaning their all-star hockey playing son won't be exposed to UND.

It's pretty amazing the effect a 5th year FBS player who never started has had on this team. I admit I was very excited when we got an FBS transfer but wasn't really that impressed that he was from UNC, an average FBS team. Imagine if we picked up a stud from a mid/upper level BCS school who is stuck behind some players.

Over/Under... NDSU beats 3.5 teams with .500+ records this year in the regular season I'm going to take the Under. I think their only wins vs .500+ teams are Youngstown, SDSU and SIU. I see them losing to Illinois State (the only team guaranteed to finish .500+)
-
When it seems like you're in a cow pasture as you're walking from class to class at NDSU, I'm sure anyone other than the big ladies at MooU seem weird
-
Once again, I attribute that to quality of teams played. I posted the records of the teams NDSU has played this year. Even without the extra loss they received thanks to NDSU, there is only one team above .500. The two teams with either the best record (ISU) or the FBS team are surprisingly the 2 that the NDSU offense has struggled against. Call it an off day, I'll call it the start of a pattern against teams that aren't complete crap.
-
I attribute that to quality of teams played. NDSU only put up 22 vs a bad CSU team. They have had some easy and big wins this year. In close games, the Bison have struggled to put up massive points. It's tough to tell how YSU will finish but that is the one game against an above average opponent in which they scored a lot.
-
I demand we line all the ladies up and I will personally make the decision. Lots of hands on research to be conducted

Thank you for your analysis. Despite the Vikings personality you see with SDSU, I see an NDSU team that relies heavily on running and defense. It's no doubt the Bison defense is good. However, Brock Jensen has yet to throw for more than 200 yards against the better teams on NDSUs schedule. Yes, he has torn apart some bad teams but still only averages 201 passing yards per game. I don't think NDSUs passing game would be effective. It would turn into a run offense vs run defense game. While Army runs a different offense than NDSU, San Diego shut them down. I admit Army is down this year, but having seen them in person, it is mostly their defense that struggles. I think SDSUs offense would be potent enough to piece together some drives. They would likely have to resort to the pass because their run game has struggled at times. In a 10 game series, I say NDSU wins 3 or 4. Obviously in a one game session anyone can win, but I don't think NDSUs offense could generate enough in the air to win. Likely a 21-17 game. Most of the games would be within 10 points. To be fair, I think with Braden Hansen at QB, UND would win 2-3 of the 10 games vs SDSU. The UND defense would have to play extremely well to keep it close. A lot of blowouts in those 10 games.

I am honestly interested in your football analysis. Not bisonboone referencing a website that has shown that a team that just played NDSU has a 0 in 500 chance of winning the game they just won. Edit: Indiana State has some decent wins on the season, yet to not even be expected to win 1 out of 100 games vs NDSU tells me the website isn't as great or impartial as some on here believe.
-
It all started when JohnBoy said that you're not a good team unless you beat someone legitimate. I pointed out that NDSU's schedule doesn't include anyone legitimate. In fact, NDSU could make the playoffs despite not bearing anyone over .500 (unlikely but possible.) How UND does against a certain schedule has nothing to do with how good of a schedule NDSU has. All it says is UND isn't as good as NDSU, something which nobody is denying, minus a select idiots. NDSU hasn't played anyone they shouldn't have easily beat. They lost in a big upset but their schedule is still weak to this point. We will see how good the bison are with 3 of their last 4 games against better teams. I don't see how any NDSU fans can objectively claim they have played a tough schedule.
-
And you still haven't answered that for me. Or why UND wouldn't beat CSU this year. The website is fun and unique but loses all credibility when it predicts NDSU wouldn't lose a game all year, despite that they already have. Let's see your stats and facts.
-
And I just ran NDSU as the home team and Indiana State as the road team and it has NDSU winning 100% of the time based on stats/scenarios. Your little website, while fun, means absolutely nothing. Edit: I ran it 4 more times and every time was 100% for NDSU.
-
I have no problems admitting that last year's UND team was not good at all. Our offense sucked and our defense was above average against some bad competition. SDSU this year is significantly better than Fresno last year, yet UND hung with SDSU this year. I would like to know why you think NDSU would be able to win a game against SDSU this year. Surely, NDSU has a better defense and would be able to hold SDSU to fewer points. However, NDSU's offense struggled against a bad FBS team and an average FCS team. Oh, sorry... I forgot every team in the MWFC is good because the CONFERENCE IS SO GOOOOOODDDD!!!
-
I'm curious why you think NDSU would beat SDSU this year. You're big on using stats and facts to prove your point. Show me why. I also would like to see your stats and facts as to why UND would lose to CSU this year. Please, include the fact that NDSU beaten FBS teams and UND hasn't, because as you've pointed out that plays such a major role in whether a team will beat an FBS team. Even though everyone but yourself seems to know that quality of team is the major factor and not the history of a team from 5 years ago.
