Good call... don't plan for the future. I can see why you would want UND in the Summit. No planning for the future in that conference.

His post was in reference to going FBS if there is a restructuring of D1 college football to three divisions. Fullerton has a plan if that comes to fruition in which certain teams, if not the whole conference, would go to FBS. If the BCS conferences break away from the rest of FBS, then those lower conferences will need more conferences in order for the division to be viable.

I made it to the UND at UNC match this last fall and really enjoyed it. It was a tough loss where they were in the first couple games but just couldn't get the W. I'm excited to see them again out in Colorado. This is why I love the BigSky and wish DU would have been added as an Olympic member... more chances to see UND sports!

I think anything worse than 6-5 would be disappointing. I think 7 wins is an attainable goal. As long as we see some improvement by the defense this year and the offense improve throughout the year, I'll be happy (in addition to a winning record).

North Dakota isn't in the Root Sports footprint. That's like getting pissed at Fox Sports North for not airing the NDSU at Akron basketball game when you live in Idaho. They're doing 10 games in a 13 week season. I'd imagine the UND vs Montana game last year was one of the least watched games on their schedule because the only people that could watch it were Montana fans and random Big Sky football fans. That played a pretty big role I'm thinking.

I just don't see the Summit willfully giving up their autobid. It will die a slow painful death. Additionally, the Horizon won't want to take on all of the remaining members of the Summit and would probably just pick and choose several to get back to a respectable number. I could see the Summit becoming like a Great West where it's just a random collection of schools just for the sake of a scheduling alliance but now with an autobid.

And then watch Minnesota beg the NCHC to join! Or better yet, go crawling back to the WCHA.

I think Danny on the teams of the mid/late 2000's would have put up even bigger stats than he did this year. This was a team that had an average second line for most of the year (not average players, just not a second line like we've seen in the past).

I've heard lots of good things about Varner this year. Hopefully, we'll have a three-headed monster in the backfield to make teams have to prepare more. And to keep all three guys fresh for that playoff run!

What current/recently former NHL coaches would come to UND? Andy Murray went to Western Mich, so it's not unheard of. A coach who is tired of the business of the NHL and wants to enjoy the college atmosphere, albeit in North Dakota, could be a good replacement hire for Hak once he moves on (likely of his own choice and not because he is fired.)

You're just confused. The standed Dakota 3 are completely happy in the Summit. None of them tried to originally get in the Big Sky and got rejected. The Summit is a happy place of security, rainbows and unicorns.

I'm curious why? Other than Commodore and Greene there haven't been many UND Dmen who spent significant time in the NHL. Very good college Dmen but not great pros.
