It was already announced years ago that the trophy was retired, this is just the final chapter. There is no way that UND would rip that scab off. The good thing about having it on display in Bismarck is that UND owned the trophy a majority of the time of its history including most of the last decade it was played for. The Sitting Bull trophy was also retired with South Dakota you won't see any discussion about that coming back.

Actually when I've heard the Sioux Forever chant it is coming from the student section at hockey games. In a couple of years incoming students will have no attachment to Fighting Sioux and it will dwindle with time. All us old duffers will continue to wear our Fighting Sioux clothing until it is thread bare (which is more related to tradition and frugality than not accepting change.)

I'm not local so I don't want to start anything but I was told it was made pretty clear by Hillsboro school board that the name would be Burros and not something new. Central Valley was okay with that because it was about giving students a chance to play sports (and it was a Central Valley kid that hit the 3 pointer to win the state tournament).

I have seen only hearsay and half-truths about "the way UND handled it" Don't use "the players were on the ice" ruse that was the coaches choice, they admitted they knew it was coming or that they found out via Twitter that was a leak to the media, or blaming the administration for the recruit on campus - were they supposed to monitor and stop all recruiting in advance of the announcement?

If he puts in the time he will chew up the Northern Sun Conference (Minot State) but one lineman isn't enough to push a middle of the road team to the top. Where ever he goes I hope he gets a great education and becomes a great role model and citizen.

Of course situations and goals change but go listen to his interview on Sit down and Cheer.

The local's made some good points. When you graduate from the school you are a Valiant, when there is any other event in that gym it is not a co-op. I was glad to read that Hillsboro had no problems with the decision.

There is no way St. Cloud moves up - no money, no support, no motivation. They are cutting their budget like crazy, eliminating departments and laying off professors right and left. Their admissions have dropped double digits for several years.

The coach was obviously in denial or he was angry and wanted to make UND look as bad as possible. There is no way the staff did not know prior to the announcement.

Jones must have missed the memo that he is helpless right now.

You are like the guy that shows up at UND tailgating wearing a bison shirt and then complains when he gets !@#$. Hey it really isn't my fault I have you on ignore but when people quote you it shows up. So you come to a UND fan site and constantly retort and question every tiny little comment that could be construed as anti-SU and you question why your comments might get questioned? As has been said, this is a UND fan site - even if the thread is troll bait - not every comment has to be logical and when it comes to SU it doesn't need to be defended ...it's a UND fan site, we talk trash about rivals. it's gonna happen - maybe consider that it is not your job to defend their honor. P.S. I do have you on ignore so going forward I will concentrate on accomplishing that and not comment on your posts.
-
I think when you insist on frequenting another fan bases discussion boards you are going to get that - its what rival fans do. There is a great way to not have to waste your time defending every sentence here that disses SU ...but if you haven't figured it out by now...

Kansas State game in 2020 takes on new importance
CMSioux replied to SiouxVolley's topic in NCAA News
Time will tell if Taylor's still holding a grudge and this turns into a buyout. -
Get their shirts out of the Sioux Shop.

And the Millenials have/will started an online petition to get him fired.

The five stages of grief are denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. They are moving through denial (letter writing, etc) and into anger, next stage is "bargaining" (however they could sit in Anger for a long time).

Large recruiting class this year - interesting how they hit the Dailey Double (okay I'm sure they've heard that all their lives).

I respect Studs and think he's a great field leader but does making this camp as a counselor mean his passing has improved to a much higher level?

First F Bomb of the post game interviews by DU Goalie.

Duluth only chance is to go with their proven strategy ..check to injure and run the goalie

Is the audio funky? I'm getting just natural sound and the announcers drop in a comment about once every five minutes. The crowd sure is quiet.

UND cannot get into a social media fight on this - emotions are running high but there are plenty of facts that back up the decision. The worst thing would be for UND to cave - which I can't see how that would happen with a program that loses $2 million a year and has no TItle IX implications. Layoffs and cut backs happen every day. The first stage in moving toward acceptance is denial followed by anger, this too shall pass.

Come on Cratter there are better places to stir the pot - let men's BB have some time without controversy and bashing

Easy to close something that is not in our backyard - Mayville has set attendance records in recent years. We may have a lot of small colleges in our state, and perhaps too many but what they provide is access to higher education. I saw a plan once to coordinate them so they become feeder programs for the larger Universities and thus help reduce the drop out rate a win/win, but politics always comes into play. While this conversation needs to be had - it has nothing to do with dropping a niche program that loses millions of dollars and has very little impact on the quality of an education at UND>
