I agree it was the right decision but history will never remember that the only reason the vote was so one-sided was because of the "threats" that UND would not be allowed into the Big Sky and would not be able to schedule other schools because the NCAA was lobbying schools not to schedule UND. If none of that would have been on the table and it was simply the will of the people this vote might have gone differently - I believe the will of the people was to keep the nickname but all the threats and dire predictions of doom for UND athletics overrode that. It's still incredibly disconcerting that there are so many Native American nicknames still in use - and no it should not matter that a tribe has given its permission to a school because no one should be able to give anyone else permission to use a "racist" nickname. (oops got on the soapbox).

So whay is the reason for becoming a graduate transfer? Is it because the school you are at doesn't offer the graduate program you want?

Well I am a Champion's Club member - who never gets his membership cards on time and is still waiting for his copy of the new Sioux Illustrated. But I agree I'm sure UND will get the word out on their ticket allotment.

Not assuming a win - cause that is bad karma - but starting off any season with a nice home win will help with the bandwagoners - hopefully by then most are already back on board (again not saying that any game is a guaranteed win as we have seen slow starts the past two years)

Wonder if there will be any issues getting tickets? Checked their site and single games aren't on sale yet. Let's monitor and post here when they do.

But who is ranked below us that doesn't have questions?

I order my tickets through a friend so we can sit together. Basrd on past experience it is easier that way. I have to believe there are other club members who don't order tickets.

I have been a Champion's Club member for about 5 years. Every year I have to call and ask for my membership card and I never have it by first home football game. I am guessing I will also have to call to get my issue.

Dang - I'm having a very sarcastic day.

I am very nervous about the domino affect. Since not publicly announcing Jones' contract extension is already responsible for two graduating student athletes on the team transferring to other schools to continue their graduate studies. Could this also lead to a mass exodus of all of our other quality players to other schools?
-
Good points but facts don't change personal agendas. I cannot believe the negative thoughts and possibilities that are knee jerk posted in reaction to one player' decision. It has no impact on other players or a contract that we know is ready. A graduate transfer is very common in the end it's about the education. Next man up!

Contracts are adjusted all the time - if they sign him a year earlier he simply asks for or gets a bonus for making tournement or some booster tosses in some dough. Really a non-issue as far as the timing of the announcement of the extension - the coaching staff, players and recruits are the only ones that need to know and probably do.

Aviation major - damn hope this isn't a mistake that haunts him for a lifetime.

Ready to get back to the champion year defense where they know we are coming but they can't stop it.

It's the government if they want to find skeletons they will just keep digging until they find something. Not sure what the person who filed this thinks they will accomplish other than appeasing their anger and hurting student athletes.

As far as approaching "million dollar donors" to fund women's hockey. Even their pockets are only so deep so if they were asked to give a large donation to support women's hockey it would merely be shifting money that probably would have been donated to the school for something that is more of a priority than an athletic program that is bleeding money and will continue to bleed money. I don't know what the effort was to save the program but I also don't have a problem if there wasn't much effort made (which we do not know).

A lot of contradictions and head scratching comments in this story.

It's great fun to go back and watch his high school highlight film. I am 100% certain that everyone on this board wants Elijah to succeed in life, in school and on the field in that order.

Okay go even further back what was Finley and what was Sharon before they combined. (It was the Reynolds Rockets before they were the Valiants).

Five games as a UND starter and some have him going to the NFL. I am cautiously optimistic. I want him to suceed in life, the classroom and on the field.

I wonder if they feel insulted when someone calls them a boutique?

Definitely should not be played for. Its time has passed. Heritage center display with the icon of the winning team each year facing out.

I'm fine with it going to the state museum, but how can they pass a law that impacts an item that is not owned by the state? Isn't it owned by the Blue Key club of both schools?

One thing is for sure they better beef up the security in that building. Is it a felony to break into a government building? Regardless they better include a warning in the guidelines and expectations for homecoming royalty at SU.
