I'm really looking forward to being able to have positive constructive discussions on UND football, I did not take it personal I have no connections to anyone within the administration - I live 220 miles from Grand Forks, just tired of the negativity and yes there were definitely instances of making fun of student-athletes and coaches - I don't have time to go back and find them but they were there. Ready to move forward who's going to start the "Looking ahead to 2014" thread.

So just to be clear: You equate confidence with a personal habit You think a person need to verbally say to the media that they take the blame after every loss to be a leader Showing emotion on the sidelines is the only way you can tell if a coach is a good leader A coach not talking to you mean he isn't personable and has an ego problem. Sideline discipline issues by freshmen meanshe has no respect from the players Wearing ear buds means a person can't relate to players, fans and alumni Not recruiting North Dakota to other's expectations means they can't access player talent Recruiting CA, AZ and TX is just plain wrong. Sorry but what I posted is what has been shared on this site. no need to FYP - no bitterness here - talk about bitterness there is an entire thread fueled by it, I'm ready to move on and I didn't need to make fun of the players or coaches to get there. I was just revisiting what has been posted. I'll be there at every game just like I have been throughout the transition. Mrs. Mussman (oh and please share how this being posted during the discussions wasn't based on bitterness and mean-spiritedness).

Everyone's choice on why they attend or don't attend. I attended because I thought the seniors deserved a send-off they signed on 4-5 years ago at the start of transitiion knowing the schedule was going to be brutal, I'm thinking Great West wasn't signed on yet so no chance for all conference honors when they signed, but they came and are now Sioux for life and they deserved to have someone cheering for them at their last home game.

Based on what I've read here the criteria needs to include: Never runs his fingers through his hair Takes personal blame for every loss Shows lots of emotion on the sidelines Is able to walk through tailgaters row and strike up a conversation Has 100 percent control over every player's actions on the sidelines at all times Never wears ear buds when walking through tailgaters row Recruits North Dakota Stops recruiting CA, AZ, TX.

Agreed, but the year they went 8-3 attendance was no better and last year they had one of the most entertaining offensives in UND history and started out with a winning record before fading and home attendance was no better - perhaps we are destined to be in the top 50 for attendance and the best way to enjoy it is to stop comparing the program to others who have the luxury of being the only game in town.

My opinion - and I'm allowed to have one - is that there are mnay factors that go into attendance. The terrible schedule during the transition certainly contributed to dwindling attendance, the year they went 8-3 attendance wasn't any better because the opponents were no-names. In addition it's just a fact that Grand Forks is a hockey town - UND hockey is the place to be and once you plunk down that chunck of change some people don't see UND football as worth more of their entertainment dollar and that will never change. Could football achieve average attendance of 10,000 every home game - maybe but it's not a given for many reasons. To continue to pile onto Mussman at this point is just mean spirited. Mrs. Mussman

Do you think that perhaps the fact that we went through a transition, left the NCC, had a schedule that was patchwork at best filled with schools no one ever heard of might have had something to do with attendance going down - geez I blame Muss for the following: Every rainy or cold day of tailgating in the past six years The Alerus adding a parking fee to game day The starter on my tailgating van going out

Planning a trip to Grand Forks weekend of January 11 and looking for two tickets to the hockey game Saturday night.

No way they are picking someone without several years of college coachinge experience. How old was Brooks when his dad left UND? Get our the pitchforks and torches but it won't be Brooks. He won't even be qualified based on what the job discription will be. .

Thanks for the daily pablum of FU is better than UND. Perhaps your judgement is clouded by dark cloud that hangs over a team that has more names on the police blotter than the honor roll. Winning hides a lot.

Yah but it's an unfair comparision there are so many options to dress your kid up as an FU bison - pizza delivery guy, Petition Gatherer, Flasher, Shoplifter, Best Buy Clerk, Alley Fighter. However UND also has options - astronauts, doctors, lawyers (scary). And there is no way a true UND Supporter would every cross over - casual fans of football maybe, but not a UND supporter. And I highly doubt casual fans are writing any checks to FU. Casual fans come and go - UND has a lot of casual fans of hockey (in that they aren't connected to UND in any way other than their interest in the team.).

And we admire your interest in Sioux sports, isn't it time for the daily reminder of how much better FU is than UND in all facets?

Yes the year they went 3-8. That was also the year all the genuises on the chat rooms were calling to fire Bohl and all his coordinators. Dang - guess their AD doesn't listen to the chat rooms the way ours does. Not saying a change isn't needed just saying this thread continues to fuel negativity that isn't necessary. There is a UND BIllboard on the way to Minneapolis on I-94 - guess this means we are kicking every college in Minnesota's butt !!!! Oh but there is also a Jamestown College Billboard on the same road so guess that means they are also kicking butt.

I think the difference in opinion is driven by a difference in priorities. Is it a priority that UND field a quality football team -yes Is it a priority that UND becomes competitive in the Big Sky - which means vying for the championship annually in future years - yes Is it a priority that the program graduates its student athletes - yes Is it a priority that the program have a high standard for the off-field conduct of its student athletes - yes Is charactor important when it comes to recruiting student athletes for UND - yes Is going 11-0 or 10-1 more important than any of the above - no

If we can keep this civil I'll chime in. I don't think they are going to hold attendance against this staff - the schedule was less than appealing during the transitional years - Lamar, Southern Oregon.... once people leave they find something else to fill their Saturdays with. There is also the fact that Grand Forks is a hockey town and anything else comes in second. The proof is in annually selling out an exhibition game with Manitoba. Some expected that attendance would pick up with the Big Sky and winning will put butts in the seat, then again you could also say that they might never sell 11,000 tickets consistently in this town, for numerous reasons we would all list. In the final years of the NCC I do remember going to games that had conference championship and play off implications that weren't sold out - so it might just be what it is.

Where have you been? My sentiments exactly. Of course sideline antics, academcs, behaviorial issues need to be addressed - to maintain the integrity of the program and the school - and that is where the administration can step if - IF they see it as an issue because they see the big picture. I think our biggest problem is too many are comparing where we are with another school - they have their warts too, but winning covers up warts as we all know. I also think that when a good coach finds members of his team are more problems than they are worth there needs to be some housecleaning there - which results in more losing until the ship is righted - so it becomes a can't win sitatuation for the staff. Of course we have all seen coaches at all levels that are willing to overlook trouble players and team integrity for the sake of winning.

Sorry it's been proven that anything posted here other than "We need to clean house and it starts with Muss" is met with "your head is in the sand, you are willing to accept losing, etc." I would like to read some ideas for improvement that are based on more than just conjecture,spite, anger and bar stool philosphy. Anyone willing to double what they are current donating to the Champion's Club so they have more than $110.000 to offer a new coach - of course that gets the answer "I'm not giving a dime until Muss is gone" - cop out. Again there are ways to have constructive discussions on the state of the football program without going negative. If you can't figure out how - that's part of the problem here.

Except for the insults thrown at players - highly doubt a parent will enjoy seeing that.
