  1. All are welcome, we come here to talk about UND. Usually when someone has to say "I'm not trolling" it's followed by something that could be taken as trolling. And cut the "gosh you sure are sensitive here" crap - glad to talk UND recruiting with anyone, not so interested in hearing "we win every recruiting battle" from another school ad nasium. 119 posts in 8 years not really that engaged in talking about UND.
  2. Yah but do we really need them commenting on and refuting everything that is posted? I realize we can't stop it. But FU isn't on our schedule, they have moved on and "left us behind", they get every recruit they want, our conference is weak, we are a hockey school, we'll never catch up to them - we hear it all just about everyday from one of them - so what's the point of trolling here?
  3. Really - like we need to hear this over and over - even if it's true? ... from my perspective NDSU has won most of the recruiting battles with UND in the last few years ...Getting Ezra, even if it's a full ride offer compared to maybe a partial from the Bison, would be a great get for UND. 1. Personally even if it's true recently - do we really need FU fans posting this? Bring something constructive to the discussion 2. So FU fans need to comfort themselves by saying the only way UND could get a player that FU wants is that we offer a full-ride and they are only offering a partial (something they can't prove but need to feel is true). What gets me is the masquarade as a "just stopping by to chat" when the reality is they are here to say "Oh and by the way if you haven't heard lately FU is better than UND."
  4. Please don't come here and respond to every comment made about FU (Fargo Univeristy in case you don't know) we have enough trolls here doing that. Please don't come here with the purpose of reminding us how good the FU football team is - that's covered too. I can't believe you have so little to talk about over on Bizon - Swille that you need to come over here for intellectual conversation - well the intellectual part I can see. It gets tiring that every thread becomes a pissing match started by FU trolls. This is a UND fan thread we are going to post about UND, we are going to poke fun at FU - it's what we do here because we are UND fans.
  5. So are you joining the tailgating bunch for the next 4 years?
  6. So if I am just walking on the sidewalk the police can stop and question me and I have to allow it? Perhaps it's because she appeared to be a minor that it changes the sitatuion - however that would be considered "Age profiling" in the politically correct world. Unless she was doing something illegal how could the police stop her from walking?
  7. Here is the story within the story - it appears the GF Herald has pulled the story - at least from the online paper. Isn't this thread a reflection of people enjoying when someone who was raised with a silver spoon in their mouth makes a mistake? Who doesn't enjoy it when Paris Hilton does something stupid. Young adults make mistakes - if they have grown up in a spotight it makes the news. You just have to hope the mistakes aren't so big they can't overcome them. I do think this situtation, while not funny, is a great example of irony. Wonder if it will make the AP - that might be why the Herald pulled it (which since I can't find it on their website I am assuming happened) - to prevent further publicity. Okay this is a little dark humor but I'm thinking Grandma Marilyn is not going to invite her on the Eat Beat anytime soon or perhaps she will start referring to her as DG, for drunk granddaughter in her columns.
  8. Thanks for the highlights - I didn't catch anything on TV but the announcers must have been impressed with Sioux following - once again a Denver road game sounds like a Sioux home game. All that was missing was the Beer Grandma on the big screen.
  9. PJ Sparks tweeted on January 7th - "New beginnings out here in california." only he knows what that means.
  10. I never bought into the postings here that said "This is a throw away year," or concerns about only having a couple of committments. Common sense and experience tells you there are plenty of quality student athletes out there who have no reason to make an early committment. Plus UND is a very nice campus and University with great facilities - it's biggest recruiting hurdle is probably the weather. it's not always about "Dah Football" sometimes it's about what area they want to study in (they have higher goals than being petition takers and late night Best Buy employees) or they have family ties to a school or region. Plus you never know the quality of a recruiting class until around their sophomore or even junior year - so it doesn't matter if they sign in October of January. As we all know there's no science, no guarantees when it comes to recruiting. I'm hoping we can get back to enjoying the seasons and talking about the teams without questioning every decision the administration and coaches make in all sports. Perhaps I'm dreaming as there are always those who are smarter than the administration and the coaches.
  11. With nothing but cold weather and short daylight hours ahead for awhile it's nice to consider that the Spring Football Game is on the calendar for April 26th. Nothing but sunshine and kool-aid preferred on this thread!
  12. Highly sought after coach, successful whereever he coached previously, instrumental in UND's success while he was here as an assistant - but already last year some on here were questioning the hire. I like what was shared on last week's GF Herald Chat Room - "Can we stop asking if a UND coach is on the hot seat after every loss".
  13. I can't say that it has ever entered my mind that making the 3 1/2 hour drive to Grand Forks for a Saturday afternoon of tailgating, socializing and football isn't worth it, even last year when I knew they were probably going to come out on the short end by a long measure I looked forward to the day, seeing friends, talking football, hearing the band, meeting player's parents and supporting the team. I realize this might seem strange - perhaps it's a generational thing. Now when it comes to professional teams I think it would be easier to have a different attitude.
  14. No students in town so the hockey game atmosphere is quite different.
  15. I also head the Bohl/Moberg story but only Joe knows if that is true. Also heard from a parent of a UND player that FU coaches contacted recruits and said if they played for FU they would guarantee they played for a national championship (and that was during their 20 year playoff hosting drought.).
  16. Been a lot of buzz over the years about the ethics associated with a school contacting a player who has already verbally committed to another school. Seem to remember that at least one UND football recruit got a phone call from another school's coach after they had verbally committed to UND. Now the shoe is on the other foot and it seems they don't like it. I know I've read in Sports Illustrated stories that the big schools have no problem continuing to contact players who have verballed.

    2013 Playoffs

I am like most other UND Sioux fans I don't care a lick about FU's team. I'm excited about the staff that Bubba is putting together and sending out on the road recruiting. There are plenty of kids who haven't made a decision yet for us to get. Playoffs are over time to shut down this thread - and it wouldn't hurt to shut down a couple of trolls at the same time. .
  18. They probably pulled the program down by now. It was John Feinstein's national sports minute and he was lauding FU's three-peat then about 15 seconds into the one minute program he talked about how FU was the school that lost its FIghtiing Soux nickname due to the NCAA. It was basically a cluster**** of him confusing UND with FU once again and reinforcing how when the national media think of college sports in North Dakota they think UND. Hilarious.
  19. Yes but the extremists would say "If even one person is offended by it then it needs to go." Someday someone with national attention will have to stand up and say "Hey it's racist to have a white student dressed up as a Native American wearing war paint and riding a horse out on a football field and throwing a flaming spear into the ground". I once read that Seminoles seldom rode horses and never wore war paint. The tribe must be getting LOTS of money to have everyone in lock step on this.
  20. Now not only are they the Chris Farley of college sports they are the Rodney Dangerfield of college sports.
  21. http://newyork.cbslo...oWAEiU.facebook - you have to listent to this. heads are exploding at FU.
  22. Actually I was considering contacting Archie Fool Beer about the FU football player that is tweeting "Sioux Suck" since the name no longer applies to UND it is a racist tweek targeting a specific ethnic group.
  23. Shouldn't matter if a school has a tribes permission - either Native American names are racist or they aren't. That's like saying if you get permission from someone you can call them a racist nickname. All the arguments about doing away with Fighting Sioux still hold true to Semnoles, Utes, Aztec, - it's turning a people into a mascot, it demeans a group of people, if only one person feels discriminated by the name then it needs to be changed - plus there are Seminole tribes in Oklahoma that aren't in favor of continuing the nickname. Undefendable.
  24. About a year ago Sports Illustrates named the tradition of Renegade and the flaming spear riding out to mid-field as the best-ever college football tradition.
  25. Tough to accept the hypocracy associated with the NCAA and Florida State on display during the college football national championship game - the constant war chant and hand chopping, the crowd shots of students with indian headbands on - all things that UND never did in the last 40 years and would have been incredibly criticized for if they had. Shouldn't matter if a tribe gives permission - either using a Native American nickname/icon/mascot is racist or it isn't. Yes, I'm moving on, but no I don't have to accept the hypocracy.
