  1. Archie Fool Bear posted this pictuer of his grandsons practicing for the next Wachipi. Archie is from Standing Rock and a long-time supporter of UND and the nickname.
  2. Actually I wear it all the time and I have been in Devils Lake and at Pow Wows and I have never had any of them say a word - the reality is the real Native Americans either don't care or don't mind. Yes there are a few vocal ones that get the medias attention but my experience has been that most either don't care or don't mind. You have to remember this was driven by liberal minded people who have never been within 100 miles of a Native American community (but many are employed by UND).
  3. Nex time I get to Grand Forks I'm going to knock on the door of that sorority and hand a $20 bill to the first person who answers the door and thank them for that banner.
  4. The Native American Cultural Center, which by the way was built with our tax dollars, is taking way too much credit. They are not the "You" referenced in the banner. If they were the name would have been gone much earlier - obviously the "You" is the NCAA which only got the name removed when they contacted other schools and encouraged them to stop scheduling UND - that was the tipping point in moving away from the name. The stories around campus are that this Cultural Center is run by Chippewa's primarily which hate the Sioux nation and would do anything to eradicate them from the campus which is why they wanted the name gone - just ask any member of a Sioux Tribe how they are treated at this Cultural Center. Too many knee-jerky reactions yesterday - if I lived in Grand Forks I would attend the Wachipi wearing a Sioux shirt - and if anyone said anything to me I would file a grievance -that event is funded by public dollars and held in a public building what you choose to wear is protected by freedom of speech and expression.
  5. http://www.valleynewslive.com/story/25195906/claims-of-backlash-over-loss-of-fighting-sioux-nickname Now some are claiming that UND is quietly cutting funding to some native american programs as a backlash to losing the name - uh the administration and liberal professors (the ones that dole out the money) are the groups on campus that supported the nickname change - now they are turning on them? As far as the person quoted Mr. Rainbow - what's the record for longest time being a student at UND this guy must be close to it - if someone else is paying I guess you can go as long asyou want. You'd think this group would try and have positive publicity during the week of their biggest annual event - but no there are some people who can always find something negative to focus on. The Wachipi receives public funding from several sources at UND but nothing about that. The sign is totally within their rights - a little misworded as there hasn't been a "mascot" in years but I think this would be a great freedom of speech issue to test. They need to contact the ACLU.
  6. The think a call should be made to the local civil rights organization.Whether you agree with the message or not this is a freedom of speech issue.
  7. Either Native American names are offensive or they aren't - it can't go both ways. Many of those that opposed Fighting Sioux weren't Native Americans but they still said they were insulted by it. If just one person, not even Native American, is insulted by the use of Seminoles as a nickname then those who are politically correct (and not hypocrites) should support that is one person too many and the name should be changed. But also I am certain you could find a member of the Seminole Tribe that would go on record as not wanting the name used for a sports team - but the NCAA isn't looking in the same manner they did for North Dakota.
  8. Okay your daily attempt to convince us that FU is better than UND is accomplished. I'm thinking if I was a senior at FU and felt I had such a great future ahead of me I wouldn't be trying to sell a ring on Ebay - bison pride. Guess that ring doesn't mean much to him - same FU football team member that flunked out of Signature Gathering 101. http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id/431326/
  9. http://www.inforum.c...icle/id/431157/ Another guy with low standards
  10. Except for the weather I think UND compares pretty well in facilities, school, campus, community etc.
  11. St. Cloud Minnesota surrounded by obnoxious rodent fans and still-grieving St. Cloud Husky fans.

  13. Great example of how you visit here "to add to the conversation" and "bring a different perspective" You must be due to post about "arrogance" and "remember we're better than you" today also. Nothing to talk about at Bison-swill as usual - we're playing for a national championship next week. (Now que the "it's a niche sport, no one cares post).
  14. But on the same token those with a different opinion are called "apologists". Can't we all just get along - we are all rooting for the same school.
  15. A pissing match about who can find the library - the number of FU trolls that frequent here is a microcosm of why UND is and will continue to be more influential than FU - they can't stop monitoring us and making sure they respond to every comment so we understand how superior FU is. Once again there is a story about who is #1 and who is #2 and it's in the same order it usually is...buttfootball.
  16. I would guess the reason the Herald ran it had more to do with Time Magazine running with it than any perceived need to pump up UND. It was timely and had a local focus.
  17. Waite Park, MN (Suburb of St. Cloud) at the Ultimate Sports Bar.
  18. Please have someone read my last paragraph to you. Have fun - spew your anger at me and others - share how you are always the smartest one in the room - I will be ignoring your posts - please do the same to mine.
  19. Uh no - a little higher - but please let's not get into degrading any job professions - it's kind of juvenile. Last job I had that told me what I had to do step by step was generations ago. If you have any kind of educated job at all they don't tell you how to do it, they set expectations and accountabilities and assume you have the intelligence. skill and education to achieve them. By the way can't we just agree that you and I will never agree on anything so everytime I post you don't have share your opposite opinion and insults? I'll put you on ignore and you can do the same for me.
  20. So is this also what you would put on a job listing for his replacement - I don't think I've ever seen a job listing that tells you how to do a job.
  21. With all due respect - other than the perpetual hot seat that every coach is put on here - how do you identify that a coach is really on the hot seat? From the reality standpoint I'm not seeing how a coach that has a three year contract and just finished #2 in the conference is on the hot seat within the UND Adminstration.
  22. I love how head to head no longer matters. I highly doubt that Kentucky/Louisville or Auburn/Alabama or other instate rival fans feel the same...unless you are the team losing. Yup FU mens BB had a great season I could almost root for them if it wasnt for their trolls
  23. " the coaches are just plain better and that guys understand what they need to do within the scheme 10x better" I agree and I'm just saying that money will get you experience. I'm not going to do the research but I would like to see the comparision of the years of experience with this staff versus last year's staff. I'm happy for the upgrade and as always will continue to support the team.
  24. Got it - you gotta get out of the RRV and it's smooth sailing! Dave if you see a big cow, walleye, buffalo, Paul Bunyun you're going in the wrong direction.
