There are two sports that most people care about, men's basketball and football. NDSU leads by a large margin in both. The sad part about UND football attendance is they were advertising season tickets for about the same price as a ticket to one NDSU game and they could still only get about 6,000 fans a game. NDSU sold out all games in an hour and turned away 1500 season ticket requests. The Alerus couldn't even hold just the NDSU season ticket holders.
-
Are you talking about the Force or all of UND athletics? Because I think it could be true for both.
-
No, the reason was their best players were on the bench in foul trouble. If UND and NDSU play 10 times in the BSA, NDSU wins 10, NDSU wins 8 out of 10 on a neutral floor, and maybe they split in the Betty.
-
I was more embarrassed for UND and the ND Class B refs they hired for that game.
-
But UND fans rave about the quality of the Big Sky. Well, the Summit in men's basketball, mid-major (14 of 34), Big Sky, low-major (27 of 34). MVFC in football best in FCS, Big Sky middle of pack (4 of about 10). I think NDSU fans are seeing higher quality athletes game in and game out, regardless of what the uniforms say.

I would trade a win or two in the Big Dance for an FCS title.
-
Actually, I think either would take a trip to the "Big Dance" over a trip to the NCAA Hockey tournament.

And the SL couldn't be happier to have gotten rid of Southern Utah. The BSC got a real winner there. Men's basketball seems to be the determinant in how good D1 leagues are. And as long as the 3 Dakota schools, Omaha, Denver and ORU are in the SL, they will be the better conference than the BSC. Men's BB is THE sport for Omaha, Denver and ORU.

What's up with Stanley Jones from Bismarck? We heard Bubba was putting the power play on him to get him to change his mind. Has anybody heard anything on Mr. Jones?
-
SFI has PWO next to a couple of recruits, but not next to Holmen's name, so I assume its a partial.
-
It sounds like Holmen committed to UND.
-
Recently, ORU and Denver wanted in. UMKC left because they couldn't compete in the Summit. Oakland wanted in the Horizon because of geography, and I can't blame them. They went from a plane league to largely a bus league. Are you saying UND wouldn't leave the BSC for a Summit/MVFC combo?
-
It usually takes at least 2, maybe 3 high schools kid to get him to the ground, and he runs away for d-backs. You might see one or the other qualities in high school backs, but rarely both. I don't know much about him as a hockey player, but I have heard he may want to play hockey instead of football after high school.

If the Summit is so bad, why are they consistently rated ahead of the BSC in recent years in men's basketball? If UND was offered a package deal of Summit and MVFC membership, they would jump at the chance. NDSU on the other hand, would rather stay in the Summit/MVFC than take a BSC offer. Portland St, Sac St, Southern Utah, Northern Ariz, etc. They don't get UND fans blood boiling any more than Oral Roberts, IPFW, etc would, and NDSU, SDSU, and USD would be more attractive both rivalry wise and geographically than U of Mont or MSU, which are supposedly UND's new rivals. .

Yes, Hard to find that combination of size, power, balance and speed in a running back. He may average 300 yards a game next year and that is with defenses selling out to stop him.
-
For what it's worth, It sounds like there may not be an in-state recruiting war for Jahannesson from Fargo South next year. He is apparently getting some major attention from the Univ of Nebraska. I'm sure there will be more FBS interest coming.
-
Slummit League #15 in conference RPI in men's basketball, Big Why conference #27, Missouri Valley Conference Football Conference #1 in FCS football, Big Why #4. If the Summit is the doormat of D1, then I guess the BSC is the equivalent of a D2 league.

Actually you can watch 75% of NDSU mens basketball games and all of the football games on free tv this year. Those are the two sports most people are interested in. And you don't even need an internet connection to watch the grainy Big Sky feed, just a television.
-
I hear only NDSU, they offered him a full.
-
But NDSU football is the State of North Dakota's team. Just ask the Bismarck Tribune..............even though it was just a couple of years ago posters here said with UND in the Big Sky, Western ND would forget about NDSU and be solely UND territory.

Half of the kids that sign next Wednesday will never see the field. It's a total crap shoot. No one really knows have they will pan out. I still say its more what you do with developing the athletes once you get them on campus than what they did in high school. That starts with Jim Kramer at NDSU. NDSU hasn't recruited the best athletes in FCS the last 4 years, but they have had the best football team. Marcus Collins finished high school early and is enrolled at NDSU and started winter workouts with the team. He just tweeted it has only been 2 weeks and his shirts are already too small. Not sure anyone is better than Kramer and NDSU is really lucky to still have him. Bohl really wanted him at Wyoming, but his family ties to Fargo kept him here. UND should be investing in a good strength coach.
-
And who said NDSU offered Ferguson? Not on any recruiting sites.
-
UND coaches didn't want him? Too small for them?
-
So lets see, UND is offering more money and a much easier path to playing time. NDSU already has a DE committed that was much more heavily recruited and has a tremendous upside (Greg Menard),an athlete who may project as a DE (Marcus Collins), both of whom have FBS offers, and a true freshman they took the redshirt off of this year (Ambrosius) ahead of him. It sounds like the kid made a good decision for himself. Now show me a heavily recruited kid with equal offers from both schools that picks UND. Then they will have won a head to head recruiting battle.

Yes, that's it, NDSU fans are nervous about the Quonset adding on....... Davis and Sac St don't have the fan interest to go FBS. If they want to stay relevant in football, what does Wichita State add? UND will NOT go FBS before NDSU does.
