  1. He has more than one, so he will still have one after this one sells. Do you suppose anyone other than a former UND hockey player owns a National Championship ring? You probably wouldn't have heard about it because I'm not sure there was internet that long ago, but I'm guessing there have been some of those rings sold also. Why wouldn't you get $5,000 for a piece of jewelry that you are never going to wear. In Rodgers case, he isn't going to play pro ball, and any senior in college could use some extra money before they find a real job after graduation.
  2. The media love NDSU coaches because they actually have personalities and are a good interview. Richman (who I believe will be the next coach), will also be a media favorite because he is funny, engaging and won't just give the standard coach speak. I don't know any of these coaches personally, but from their public persona, would much rather go have a beer and talk to Phillips, Miles or Richman than Jones or Hakstol.
  3. I guess all of the influential politicians and hockey players can't make UND a valuable education. It appears that NDSU grads will be about $140.000 ahead of UND grads after 20 years. I guess those fry cooks and farmers are doing ok.
  4. UND "hosting" a member of an FBS Big Sky will not help much. There are only 2 teams that will help and those are your "biggest rivals" U of Mont and MSU. UND will tell their fans that we are going FBS but unfortunately we will never be able to play U of Mont or MSU in the Alerus. That should go over well. The Montana schools would love it because they would have to "host" everybody in the Big Sky to help them get to the 15,000 mark except each other. I don't have to read that section of the manual. My favorite team qualifies without bending the rules.
  5. I would have been glad to take the buyout money and use it to get a legit FCS team to the Fargodome, maybe one from a good FCS conference like the Colonial or Southland.
  6. San Jose just lost a quarterback to the NFL draft. That also qualifies as an FBS game that should be an easy win.
  7. FCS teams don't "host" FBS teams in any stadium. Wyoming was FBS when they "hosted" a game in Tennessee. UND needs to "host" games in larger stadiums before they qualify to go FBS, so it's not happening. NDSU will never agree to UND hosting a game in Minneapolis, and they are the only FCS team that would draw any kind of a crowd in the Twin Cities. And no, Iowa State or Iowa will not play UND at a neutral site.
  8. If they do beat Wyoming, it won't count as an FBS win. I hear you should be able to blow out any FBS team that is going through a coaching change and lost their quarterback and most of their other starters. If they don't beat Wyoming by 20 if should be considered a disappointment.
  9. That will never happen. If UND ever plays those schools, it is a road game in the opposing teams stadium.
  10. How is UND playing at a neutral site going to help them? If you only get 6,000 fans to travel 5 miles to see a game, how are you going to get more at a larger stadium 350 miles away? Any FBS school that plays you will be at their stadium (an away game). There isn't a big draw for a UND/Southern Illinois game at TCF Bank Stadium or Soldier Field. Can you give us an example of a neutral site game you have in mind?
  11. At least someone is smart enough to figure that out.
  12. Considering the Big Sky has 2 schools (the Montana Schools) that qualify for FBS by attendance and stadium size, IT"S NOT HAPPENING.
  13. And UND is the talk of the NCAA Hockey.......... Oh wait, there is no talk of the NCAA hockey tourney.
  14. Sounds kind of funny coming from someone that claims UND has a secret and imminent invite to go FBS. A school with a much smaller stadium in an area with less than half the population as Fargo. Most teams have to fly into Fargo that play at UND because it is so inconvenient to fly into GFK. UND even flies out of Fargo most of the time. You can spin it however you want, bur NDSU is much more attractive to FBS conferences than UND.
  15. Agreed that geography is not that important. The MW is not a bus league, they fly on most of their trips. How many schools in the Big Sky bus to Grand Forks? FBS schools have more media revenue and higher budgets. If they think a school will add to their conference, geography will not be the make or break deciding factor. Right now, NDSU is looking pretty good in the eyes of conferences. It may be the time to consider pursuing a jump.
  16. Actually the MAC doesn't excite me at all. I think a more exciting and more likely home would be the Mountain West. Much better in both football and men's basketball.
  17. Or that don't have to bother to go to school. Heard Grimaldi on the radio with Bernie Bergrath on Saturday. Bernie said Rocco asked him for directions to the library last year and Grimaldi said he must not have listened, because he still hasn't found it after a couple of years.
  18. What years did Parise and Toews graduate?
  19. Do you suppose Duke fans are happy they beat UNC and don't care they lost yesterday? Get a clue.
  20. Yeah Darell, Why harp on a game in March? Jones won the only game that matters back in November. Haven't you heard all of the national analysts commenting about how NDSU is only the 2nd best team in North Dakota?
  21. Well when you have a 23-62 non-conference record against D1 teams and play the #25 strength of schedule like the Big Sly did, your RPI is going to be much lower.
  22. And the #10 Big Sky football team (UND) would have beaten the eventual 3-time National Champs (NDSU) but NDSU was afraid to play the game. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah............
  23. And the #2 Big Sky team was beaten at home by the #3 Summit team. A team that was run out of the gym by the Bison twice.
  24. Fact is Southern Utah got in the BSC in 2010. That means they would have taken ANYBODY.
  25. I know. UND fans love their new rivals in the Big Sky. UM, MSU, EW, Weber, etc. Did you get 2000 fans to any of those games this year?
