Overpaid is Hakstol. UND could pay a HC half of what they are paying Hakstol and get the same results. A rookie head coach could recruit to the Ralph and the tradition of UND hockey and not get any worse results than Hakstol.
-
And Faison is sexist when hiring. Has he make a female hire yet? Has he even interviewed a female for a head coaching position? I guess I didn't see Walseth's sexual orientation publicized. Where did you find out this information? Do you have a link?
-
He's probably making just about as much as Jones is as HC at UND. I think UND needs to up the pay scale of the HC and assistants.
-
Classy... but not surprised And what is the UND way? Homophobia?
-
What pattern is that?
-
Was the MAC 12 spots higher than the Big Ten in Men's Basketball RPI this year? I must have missed that.
-
The last few years would say he isn't a better D Coordinator than Klieman, I guess we will see about a HC.
-
Just don't see Bubba relating well to an 18 year old kid. Maybe 10-15 years ago it would have been different. He seemed to have more fire back then. Maybe he will prove me wrong. He just seems to have that "aw shucks I'm just an old farm boy" attitude. He'd be a better D2 head coach than D1 head coach. You can win with different types of players at D2 than you can at D1.

You can hope. But Jones/Schwiegert at UND help NDSU athletics.

I didn't dispute the Time article about influential grads. However, it is rather insignificant to most students when deciding which school to attend. I don't think having a bunch former hockey players in the NHL or a bunch of lawyers in politics makes much of a difference in the decision. Seeing what kind of return on investment you may get from that education would make a difference to a prospective student.
-
So you are all over how much more influential UND grads are the NDSU grads (which is rather meaningless), but when something that really matters is compared (the actual value of an education at a particular college) and NDSU comes out on top it's bu%# Sh#@. I'm not one that thinks either institution is better than the other. I think you will get a quality education at either. But there are some on this site that keep saying the NDSU is a garbage institution and their degrees are throw away degrees. I think this proves them wrong.

He has more than one, so he will still have one after this one sells. Do you suppose anyone other than a former UND hockey player owns a National Championship ring? You probably wouldn't have heard about it because I'm not sure there was internet that long ago, but I'm guessing there have been some of those rings sold also. Why wouldn't you get $5,000 for a piece of jewelry that you are never going to wear. In Rodgers case, he isn't going to play pro ball, and any senior in college could use some extra money before they find a real job after graduation.

The media love NDSU coaches because they actually have personalities and are a good interview. Richman (who I believe will be the next coach), will also be a media favorite because he is funny, engaging and won't just give the standard coach speak. I don't know any of these coaches personally, but from their public persona, would much rather go have a beer and talk to Phillips, Miles or Richman than Jones or Hakstol.
-
I guess all of the influential politicians and hockey players can't make UND a valuable education. It appears that NDSU grads will be about $140.000 ahead of UND grads after 20 years. I guess those fry cooks and farmers are doing ok.

UND "hosting" a member of an FBS Big Sky will not help much. There are only 2 teams that will help and those are your "biggest rivals" U of Mont and MSU. UND will tell their fans that we are going FBS but unfortunately we will never be able to play U of Mont or MSU in the Alerus. That should go over well. The Montana schools would love it because they would have to "host" everybody in the Big Sky to help them get to the 15,000 mark except each other. I don't have to read that section of the manual. My favorite team qualifies without bending the rules.
-
I would have been glad to take the buyout money and use it to get a legit FCS team to the Fargodome, maybe one from a good FCS conference like the Colonial or Southland.
-
San Jose just lost a quarterback to the NFL draft. That also qualifies as an FBS game that should be an easy win.
-
FCS teams don't "host" FBS teams in any stadium. Wyoming was FBS when they "hosted" a game in Tennessee. UND needs to "host" games in larger stadiums before they qualify to go FBS, so it's not happening. NDSU will never agree to UND hosting a game in Minneapolis, and they are the only FCS team that would draw any kind of a crowd in the Twin Cities. And no, Iowa State or Iowa will not play UND at a neutral site.
-
If they do beat Wyoming, it won't count as an FBS win. I hear you should be able to blow out any FBS team that is going through a coaching change and lost their quarterback and most of their other starters. If they don't beat Wyoming by 20 if should be considered a disappointment.
-
That will never happen. If UND ever plays those schools, it is a road game in the opposing teams stadium.
-
How is UND playing at a neutral site going to help them? If you only get 6,000 fans to travel 5 miles to see a game, how are you going to get more at a larger stadium 350 miles away? Any FBS school that plays you will be at their stadium (an away game). There isn't a big draw for a UND/Southern Illinois game at TCF Bank Stadium or Soldier Field. Can you give us an example of a neutral site game you have in mind?
-
At least someone is smart enough to figure that out.
-
Considering the Big Sky has 2 schools (the Montana Schools) that qualify for FBS by attendance and stadium size, IT"S NOT HAPPENING.
-
And UND is the talk of the NCAA Hockey.......... Oh wait, there is no talk of the NCAA hockey tourney.
-
Sounds kind of funny coming from someone that claims UND has a secret and imminent invite to go FBS. A school with a much smaller stadium in an area with less than half the population as Fargo. Most teams have to fly into Fargo that play at UND because it is so inconvenient to fly into GFK. UND even flies out of Fargo most of the time. You can spin it however you want, bur NDSU is much more attractive to FBS conferences than UND.
