Yeah, I agree UND is getting some pretty good recruits, but unfortunately for UND, their coaches don't seem to be able to coach them up after they get on campus. Bubba Schwietzer could have coached the same D2 athletes he had at UND back in the 90's and not allowed as many 500+ yard games as this years team did. I honestly don't think UND will ever win a National Championship with this Mussman staff. Just like NDSU would not have won with a Bob Babich staff. Although both Mussman's and Babich's teams would have played harder than anybody.

Yes, kicking in doors and starting fights, beating people sensless (UND LB a couple of years ago), a drug ring run in a house full of UND football players led by at least 3 players, who were dealing drugs including meth and steroids, is nothing compared to having the right to vote on a gay marriage amendment that didn't have a snowballs chance of passing in this state.

Why weren't the captains charged? Someone had to have supplied the minors with the alcohol. One of the captains was present when the police were at the dorm. You would think when a minor has to be admitted to a hospital for alcohol poisoning there would be an investigation into who supplied it.

I would be very concerned until you can hold a D1 team to less than 500 yards. I can't see your defense allowing you to get to 7 D1 wins, unless the Big Sky is really down this year.

I think what everybody is concerned about is your defense. You will run into some defenses that will slow your very good offense down. And since your defense can't seem to slow anybody down, that will cause problems. Yes, SDSU is an FBS team, but Portland State put up over 500 yards and they didn't exactly light it up offensively today.

And these 8 players will be punished with a fine and probation if they are convicted. Did Ralph get suspended from Attending one or two of his Nazi parties in additon to his fine and probation? Hakstol finally suspended his star player for one game of a series after a second arrest in the same year for getting in a fight in an elevator. I don't think UND coaches have a corner on the disciplne market. One game out of 40 or 50 is not real harsh.

I think the whole team speed argument is overrated. I've heard that for the last 8 years since NDSU made the jump to 1-AA and I don't think they have ever been overmatched in team speed. Maybe if they played App State, but not by any MVFC, Big Sky or even any FBS team they have palyed so far. There may be a slight difference, but not enough to make THE difference.

I agree it would be embarassing for NDSU to lose to UND. But NDSU has NOT had this game circled since the start of this year. It means more to the fans than the team. If you would give Philips the option of trading a win over UND with a win a week ago at Oral Roberts he would jump at the chance to make that trade. I do believe that UND may have had this game circled on their calendar since last years game.

It boils down to which NDSU team show up. If both teams bring their best, it is still a double digit NDSU win. If NDSU doesn't show up, UND has a shot. It means a lot more to UND than NDSU. If you were to tell Brian Jones UND could win one more game this season he would pick this one. If you told Saul Philips NDSU could win one more game this WEEK, he would say SDSU on Saturday.

Kind of like Sioux fans were ripping Southern Utah a year ago? Now they are the second coming of Duke since they are joining the Big Sky. They were worse than Mayville State when they were in the Summit.

UND is better on paper? NDSU has at least 4 players on its roster that I wouldn't trade for anyone on the UND roster (Lawrence Alexander, Taylor Braun, Marshall Bjorklund and Mike Felt). I'm not saying NDSU will win since anything can happen in any given game, but on paper talent wise it should be a 15 to 20 point NDSU win. Huff appears to be a very good athlete but not a great basketball player yet.

I work with a huge Sioux hockey fan who said he was listening to the Sioux/Gopher post games this year and he said Henessey was stalling and taking extra breaks waiting for Hakstol to come up for an interview until finally saying it must be too much of a hike for him to get up to the press box and going off the air without talking to him. He said it happens often. Maybe not after every loss, but quite often. I have no reason to doubt him.

Can someone tell me the last time a media personality in GF (Sweeney, Nelson, Miller, Schlossman, et al) have said a bad word or questioned anything a UND team or caoch has done? Your hockey coach won't do an interview after a loss and nobody says a thing about it. I can guarantee you Bohl or Phillips would be taken to the woodshed if they did that.

Just wondering if your sources are coaches, athletic directors, administrators, or someone else? Why should everything that comes out of your mouth through your posts be taken as gospel? Why are you more reliable than a newspaper reporter? My guess is you are somewhat more biased than than a reporter. People on this site always talk about Bison fans saying that if a kid signs with UND that NDSU never offered or didn't want him. I don't agree as I know they offered Molberg and he is going to UND (congrats on that get). Now it sounds like you, who appears to know all about UND, seems to think UND can't lose a kid to NDSU.

Saul Phillips was on the radio in the last week and he said it will be continuing as an every year game alternating between Fargo and Grand Forks. I'm sure the date for next year won't come out until late summer or early fall. He was asked about a home and home every year like UND and SDSU did this year and he didn't think that would happen unless they were in the same conference in the future.

So do UND coaches tell you about every offer they extend to a recruit? Was the Woods kid lying when he told the Forum in Saturday's paper that UND coaches visited him and said they would match any offer that NDSU had given him?

Yes, recruiting is going great. When is the last time a ND kid that both schools recruited went to UND? Even this year with the playing field supposedly leveled with the Big Sky coming next year and the transition over, the top two ND kids have verbaled to NDSU. For being the "Flagship" school in ND, UND sure seems to have trouble getting the best ND kids in their program.

D1 schools losing to D2 schools in basketball exhibitions every year, at the low-major, mid-major and even high major levels. Guess which school is going to be more excited to play the game and which one it means more to? I guess we will find out more in January when the 2 teams play each other.

NDSU just got a verbal tonight from a back from Milwaukee (Marcus Horne). He had offers from all but 2 of the MAC teams and was starting to get strong interest from several Big Ten schools. Had 3 Preferred walk on offers from the Big Ten. He was apparently at the UNI game this weekend and verballed right after the game. I saw several recruits on the field before the game. If a recruit visits the Fargodome on a game day and the Alerus on a game day, which do you suppose he will be more impressed with?
