  1. Michael Murphy was our long snapper the last 4 years, so Holmen might get a chance to play as a true frosh. Don't know if anybody else on the team can do it or not. Murphy was a stud; I honestly cannot remember one bad snap he had.
  2. Holmen was in Fargo last weekend. He would be a walk-on at NDSU, and I'm guessing the same is true for UND. He may have some options to play tight end at some NAIA schools.
  3. It didn't. Players currently in the program cannot transfer without sitting out a year. Players who have signed a letter of intent can ask out of their obligation, and this is usually granted.
  4. Not necessarily. I think he has a redshirt to burn, so he can sit out without losing a year of playing time.
  5. By any objective measurement, the schools are practically indistinguishable. Of course, that doesn't make for good pissing contests.
  6. Stony Brook would be a great home and home. They'll be a perpetual playoff contender.
  7. And it was dropped. I believe he pled guilty to a minor.
  8. Idk. I guess it depends on what the specific charges are. He got a minor his first time, the resisting charge was dropped. To me, a minor followed by a resisting charge may warrant a one game suspension, but I could really see going with some other form of discipline too. Also, I just don't think these things are black and white. To me, going after some cops is different than tussling with some dude outside a bar. If I was a coach, there would definitely be some general guidelines, but I would look at each instance on a case by case basis.
  9. He was not charged with aggravated assault the first time.
  10. Pretty simple really. Travis Beck was immediately suspended from all team activities after the incident; the same as these St. Cloud players.
  11. So if I'm understanding this correctly, the St. Cloud players received exactly the same 'discipline' Travis Beck did.
  12. Mays and Dahl had no shot at postseason. Schommer and Humber were playoff eligible their senior year only.
  13. I'm guessing Kory Brown will guard Huff, or maybe alternate Braun and Brown on him.
  14. You don't send a fired coach out to recruit. You retain one or two of the assistants to do it. You don't think Ed Orgeron's staff is beating down doors right now recruiting even though they don't know their fate?
  15. 20 years ago I would have said you were right. But the way recruiting is now you at least have to have someone on staff keeping contact with the kids you've offered, if nothing else just to assure them that the offer is still valid, you're still on UND's radar, don't make a decision until the new staff is in place, etc. These kids that have been offered are going to go 4-6 weeks with absolutely zero contact from anybody associated with UND. That can't help recruiting.
  16. You know Dan's right. An assistant is always retained to help out with recruiting until the head guy's found. This is really strange.
  17. The only reason I mention the ties to UND is because you may be able to get away with not having to pay as much. Also, a guy like Brooks Bollinger may not take any other FCS head coaching job other than UND because he's from the area, understands the culture, and knows what the program could be. Let's face it, North Dakota (the state, not the school) can be a hard sell for somebody to move to who's not familiar with the area.
  18. That have ties to UND and would be in your guys' price range?
  19. As an outsider looking in I think Faison has already had conversations with Brooks Bollinger and he he will be your new coach. Why else would Faison word it like that?
  20. And he's an alum!!
  21. The answer to your question would be pretty easy to find. The Big Sky went DI-AA in 1978. This link http://www.championshipsubdivision.com/history-of-the-fcs-playoffs/ shows the playoff history since that time.
  22. But I think winning brings out a lot of that passion and excitement. I've never been to the Alerus and I haven't watched much of UND football this year so I can't speak about Mussman's demeanor. But I can guarantee it wouldn't be an issue if you guys were 5-3 right now.
  23. Meh. In that same video you see Roger Thomas joking to his guys about it snowing and telling his players to relax before a Bison-Sioux game. Every coach has his own personality and as long as he's winning fans think that's the "right" personality trait for a coach to have.
  24. Yes. NDSU guys. Skyberg was a 4 year starter from 95-98. He's the one about 600 yards behind Kleinsasser in the video of the "catch". Walter was part-time starter at cb from 02-05. I don't think McKinnon was ever a starter but played a lot at lb in the mid-90's. This is all from memory so I may be off in the details some. Where's Bison06 when you need him?
  25. Wow. Nice memory. If I remember correctly he was a top recruit for NDSU when Babich was here. The rumor was that he got his scholarship pulled when Bohl took over so he spent a year at NDSCS before transferring to UND.
