  1. We lost our house in Minot Monday night. Probably to the main level by now. Not looking forward to the messy cleanup, but I'm sure some folks on this board have been through it.
  2. Wow, this is a bit of a surprise. I thought he went to Bismarck to be closer to his kids. If NDSU was smart, they'd insist on getting Michaels back to provide color commentary or be a sideline reporter. I think he's one of the best around.
  3. It will be interesting to see the official census numbers when they come out. Ward County will probably be right on the heels of Grand Forks County, and if the oil activity keeps up, will probably surpass it by 2020.
  4. Excuse me for butting in here, but Mathiason was never a big recruit. He never put up numbers for North Border and was a project for you guys from the get-go. I don't even think he's on scholarship, is he?
  5. NDSU grad

    SUU @ UND

Ummm, so did NDSU. Bohl's first year was our exploratory year. I really don't think replacing a coach is that big of a factor; obviously the important thing is to hire the right guy. I'm not invested in your program like you guys are, so I can't say if Mussman is that guy or not.
  6. LOL. Most of the tuition waivers were granted to grad students.
  7. Actually, what most NDSU fans fear is the loss of the autobid and a return to the scheduling woes we faced when we were members of the GWFC. Having 6 teams doesn't guarantee an autobid.
  8. Mac underperformed at ISU. This is really a win-win for both parties. ISU gets a new coach without having to buy out his contract and Mac gets a pretty sweet gig in a good conference with a great long-term contract.
  9. Headline seems to be a tad misleading. From the article. "The money will not come from taxpayer funds or tuition dollars. It comes from interest income, auxiliary revenues and Coke and Pepsi commissions." Although I do think the Development Foundation is absolutely wrong on this one. They should be responsible for providing the balance of the funds to cover the cost overruns.
  10. Please. Non-alums west of the RRV don't really care that much about this rivalry. Sure, they would maybe watch on tv if it was on but they don't live or die over it. There would be a few people in the Grand Forks media (cough, Ryan Bakken, cough) who would make some snide remarks but it wouldn't be as big of a deal as you're making it out to be.
  11. I think it's more difficult to find FCS caliber d-linemen than it is FCS caliber linebackers in this region. Not counting juco's, I would say NDSU has had 3-4 FCS caliber d-linemen in the last 3-5 years, while they have had 5-6 FCS caliber linebackers. I wish NDSU would switch to the 3-4.
  12. There was an opinion piece by Doug Burgum in the Forum today espousing that exact view. Really makes a lot of sense.
  13. North Dakota has anti-corporate farming laws as well. Google "North Dakota Century Code" and it won't be hard to find.
  14. My wife works at Minot State, and has attended a few of the forums they have been holding. IMO, Minot State fits really well in DII providing they get into a league. And the new wellness center looks very impressive.
  15. This is where the "and providing no other current members of the team are implicated" part comes in. Obviously, if what you said comes to fruition it will be a much bigger story.
  16. Possibly, but the Schultenover problem has already been dealt with, and providing no other current members of the team are implicated the story really has nowhere has to go. I think people will remember this past Bison sports' season (including the softball team's accomplishments) as a very good one.
  17. Actually, I think the softball story is a lot bigger.
  18. Thanks, I was off by a year or two on Vonesh's age; for some reason I thought he was the same grade as Ayinla and Boschee. I think the key difference in a hypothetical mathcup of that team vs. the current NDSU squad is the Bison have four seniors where the Sioux have a young Gardner and Guldseth. Tvedt would probably guard Guldseth, Winks on Gardner. IMO, points would be hard for the Sioux to come by; Bison by 10. Edit: That's a pretty amazing lineup for a D2 team. IMO, four legitimate players with DI talent (Vonesh, Guldseth, Gardner, and Burkett).
  19. It's not like all those guys were in their prime at the same time. I'm going off memory here, but I think when Vonesh was a senior, Rico Burkett was the pg and Jacobson came off the bence as a Frosh. Gardner and Jacobson were in the same class, but didn't Gardner redshirt? I think UND's most talented team of that era was when Jacobson and Guldseth were seniors, with a supporting cast of Johnson, Gardner, and Powell. That would have been an interesting matchup with this NDSU team, but I think the Bison would have superior guard play and win about 60% of the time.
  20. Seriously, you guys are going to have a 214 page thread about the legitimacy of a fistfight being classified a felony if you keep playing into MplsBison's hand. Just remember, there was a reason he was voted the most annoying poster on AGS.
  21. You guys are thinking of Sportsworld, which no longer exists. Chad Yale started it, but sold out. The building is now occupied by Up the Creek and Space Aliens.
  22. I moved the family to Minot after swearing I would never move back home. I have to say I like it about 100X better than I ever thought I would. Lots of places to golf, three pretty decent-sized lakes within a couple of hours. Just close your eyes through certain parts of town and you'll be set.
