  1. Darryl, what channel r u watching?
  2. Any body watching from western ND? What channel is best?
  3. It's a moral victory right now to have a scoreless game...
  4. Whoa Champ...I was responding to someone who was bitching that REA doesn't give enough money to UND athletics - Hello, its not owned by the University yet and therefore they have to manage maintenance and repair costs out of their own budget...I also believe in all the sports contributing to UND, but for the last few years the football program hasn't done much with its 60+ scholarship athletes to generate great interest in Football in GF and the Alerus profit/loss statements the last few years reflect how that has not only impacted UND's bottom line but that of the community as well. So get off the grander than thou kick because I've been to every other sports games at least once this year and I wouldn't be attending them if I was the one sport only fan you try to portray. By the way, I tailgate and attend each and every football game - so go shame someone else.
  5. Its pretty easy to see how much the football program is draining from the budget...I think the whole football program budget would cover the rest of the non-hockey sports if I remember correctly. Once Football actually puts out a profitable product, then we will be flush with cash...Until then, bitching about REA hockey contributions is ignoring the 600 lb fat man in the room called "UND Football".
  6. He's done at the end of the year...the Homecoming loss will be so bad that he might even get canned at the press conference....
  7. We run a goal line offense and run the ball like the Bison did to us back in the 90's when they were losing and we end up pounding the ball down EWU's throat for a 49 to 3 Win....Sorry, I was eating Benadryl with my straight whiskey shots...EWU goes 'Ol' School Nebraska' on UND and runs up the score with a final of 63-17. Approximately 7000 fans show up for start of the game and by half time the Pride of the North band, the teams, Mark Kauk, and EWU fans are the only ones left...sad day in Siouxland...Well, still got Hockey and VB kickin' some ass for the day!
  8. Stretcher looked pretty good last night handling the puck and moving around the net while going deep in the zone...He's probably a transitional forward-defensemen caliber because he has speed, good hands, and from what I saw of his passing he seeks open space and can find the open guy pretty well. I didn't see him unload on anybody because of his smaller size, but he fights in the corner and his overall speed was impressive. I really like the overall team speed this year...maybe I'm seeing things, but they looked really fast!
  9. I think a win like this would do a lot more for the team as opposed to the fan base...I think the fan base is pretty demoralized right now and other than making the playoffs and going deep its going to be the same ol, same ol...Glad that Hockey is here again to save us from talking about our Football team. Sad comment, but I've heard it quite a bit the last two weeks from many folks. I think it would be a victory if the Sioux can hold EWU to a 2 TDs winning spread...lf they roll up 40 in the first half, you basically will not have anyone at the football games for the rest of the year and only the people out tailgating to get a buzz on....
  10. I took my family to their first Women's game this weekend and I have to say I am very impressed with the Women's team. They play well together and they get physical with the other team when they need to...its pure hockey and it was really impressive to see the good chemistry they have already at the start of the season. The European players are pretty special and they looked like they could give a lot of teams in the WCHA fits this year! Great job Ladies on your weekend sweep!
  11. UND 35 ISU 10...Elvis is doing the half-time show as well....
  12. Awesome job ladies! Way to put it to the Herd Turds from Fargo! I missed last nights game, but I'm thinking next home game I'm bringing the family to see how good this team is! I've already taken them to a women's soccer game against the Turds and they really enjoyed it!
  13. I think this sets up an interesting dilemma for college sports...one where the student athelete might be getting paid if the big boys leave the NCAA and start coming up with a new sports regulating body for their new conference. I am not a big fan of the NCAA which is think is a monopoly and gets to deep into social engineering versus managing athletic games and conferences. Needless to say I would not cry a tear for their demise, but I would be concerned about what effect that would have on UND and other FCS programs going forward...
  14. Tailgate every weekend football is in town...try to take it to some hockey games before the snow hits too hard as well...I have 3 players parents who tailgate with us and the last one with Montana had 2 more families of players show up...My friend and I converted an old short bus into the GREEN MACHINE and we've been having fun doing this for the last 7 years! With the type of year the football team is having, you have to be glad at least you can tailgate and have some fun before getting depressed....It is plastered with Sioux stickers and it will never change!
  15. What kind of budget increase would UND need to achieve the FBS status should it roll out like many are thinking on this board right now? I believe 2011 data shows the budgeted costs at $17,512,292...I got this from an .gov site...
  16. We r not in the same league as the top 10 FCS teams...plain and simple...homecoming is going to be an all out disaster!
  17. But my understanding of the NCAA was that it began to help form athletic leagues and championships for college sports...If the big boys want something else, then what stops them from founding their own sports organization like the NCAA and doing all of the things it already does for them? I think the monopoly the NCAA has enjoyed in this realm of sports should be challenged and I think the big 5 confereneces would be stupid not to considering the amount of money they would get to keep versus distributing to other, less popular programs in the country. Am I crazy to think this? Wouldn't a Alabama or Nebraska or USC want more of the revenue and more control over collegiate sports?
  18. If the NCAA doesn't want to do this, then can't the big 5 conferences you speak of technically start their own collegiate sports organization? I would think the threat of that would be overwhelming to the NCAA and they would most likely comply with whatever the big conferences want - to not do so, would put the majority of their revenue and power at risk, correct? I also see the other half of this is that the schools who are not fully ready (e.g. Funding $) and capable (Athletic programs necessary) are going to have to make some big choices...
  19. Again, I apologize for my ignorance on these potential changes, but if I understand correctly its to eliminate the two tier Div I system, correct? The main reason being is that the majority of the Div I teams cannot compete on a financial basis with say the top 40-50 teams? Hence, they want to go back to two divisions, one for the big boys and one that would be essentially an FCS light version?
  20. As I stated at the end of my initial post, we can also progress into what we think will happen...So, basic premise is to get rid of the two-tier Division I system we currently have and just have a smaller group at DI and put the rest into what would be called DII again? It seems many posters are stating that the Big Sky conference would have a leg up over others to make the jump...Why so?
  21. Seems to be a lot of talk and articles on the board about this change...Can we start a discussion of what we know is fact and then progress into what we think will happen for the folks that don't track NCAA committees and meetings?
  22. Sioux - 17 MSU - 31 Hopefully they prove me wrong!! I will gladly eat crow....
  23. I've heard the ND weather plans a balmy 40°F start at 8am and warming in the afternoon to a treacherously hot 63°F High...It'll be fun to see Corso's breath hang in the air in September!!! "Ya der you know, he was funny lookin'!"
  24. I honestly think the bison could move into the FBS - Chuck K...it would be perfect as they would be a perennial door mat in the FBS and we wouldn't have to hear all this BS from the South...please make this move, please...
  25. I watched a replay last night between the Rangers and Flyers...Media guides says Kristo is #46, but didn't see him play at all? Did he get sent down or is he going to play in the big time this season? Vandevelde looked pretty damn good...size, skating, and hands looked like he could be playing all year as a center for the Flyers... BobIwabuchiFan
