  1. Radke is not an "awful" player. He would dress for many teams in the WCHA tomorrow. He has been caught in the position of odd man out. He lost his defensive spot during the year last year, and his move to forward has just not panned out, depth wise, for him. He is still a Fighting Sioux player and obviously stood up for Coach Hakstol at Tech (though not advisable), so he still bleeds green. I'm sure he would love to dress, but he has lost out in the numbers game. He'll get another shot, and I'm sure he'll do his best to contribute however he can in the mean time.
  2. So you're voting for Redskins, then!
  3. I actually thought the refs did a nice job in this game, sometimes the PP time just doesn't even out. The AA 5 and game for the check from behind was legit. On the other hand, AA out-physicalled the Gophers badly last night. It is yet to be seen if Okposo can put the Maroon and Gold on his shoulders and carry the team to a higher level. If he does not, could be a long season for them. They will still be extremely tough to sweep next month, and again in February in the John, don't kid yourself.
  4. Then what would make that any different than UND being "forced" to accept the NCAA agreement by the AG and BOHE? Throw that one out with it and we'll just start over then, OK.
  5. Great players are self motivated. Do you think there is anyone at practice who could take Oshie's spot on the top line? No. Do you think he knows that? Yes. Does it make him less motivated? No. JPL appears to be of a similar mental makeup, so I doubt he'll start slacking. Your point about the club being vulnerable is spot on. Now, who's fault is that? You might say Hak's for not getting AG more playing time. But I will say it's AG's fault, he's getting a good education for free and playing daily against some of the best college hockey players in the country. If he didn't like that last year, he should have left over the summer, when he could have been replaced. As it is, leaving now hurts the team, and as such I consider it a selfish move on the player's part (or whoever is advising him). The only way I would feel differently is if he has been lied to by the coaches, but I just don't see that happening here. Every time Hak, or his assistants are asked about anyone as it concerns playing time, they always say it is earned at practice. I don't see this any differently. If you know something else, let's hear it.
  6. You are not GIVEN playing time at this level, you EARN playing time. In his three plus years as HC, Hak has been very consistent on that fact. I trust Hak, I am not at practice. It appears he did not EARN playing time, and instead of fighting through that and growing as a player and a person, he has chosen to leave. Life lesson here, does he grow from this, or become a habitual quitter? Only time will tell. He's 18, I hope a sour friend or relative didn't force this issue on him. I certainly wish him no ill will.
  7. Well, 8 games in, they are 4-3-1, and Lee has 1-8-9 in points, with a +3. Pretty good for a rookie, I'd say.
  8. Well, you don't have to be stupid if you don't know what the players look like. Just un- or misinformed. No reason an opposing school's students would know what Sioux players, especially those who are not household names, look like.
  9. If memory serves, didn't Kupchella talk about a written agreement that turns the Ralph over to the school from REA at some point, that is concrete and already set? If I remember correctly he declined to say when that time was, but that it was already agreed to by all parties. Anyone else remember seeing or hearing this?
  10. Congratulations to the Bison. It is unfortunate that the arbitrary NCAA restrictions will not allow them into the Playoffs this year. They are deserving of such a chance, and may not be as strong when Steve Walker graduates. As to Coach Bohl, I have no idea if he might leave. I do think it is fair to say he will have opportunity to do so after this year, especially if they run the table. I have met him too, and he seems very intelligent and deliberate. There are D-I jobs not worth taking because they are doomed to failure, and I think he would pass on those. Even though Nebraska is a long shot, it's not out of the question due to his relationship with Tom Osborne. If he does leave, I'm sure it will be to a place where the chips are lined up to succeed. As to UND's transition, it will not be easy, NDSU has the jump, and that is especially true in recruiting, now that they will be Playoff eligible next year. Add their impressive past two seasons and the Sioux will struggle to recruit head to head with the Bison, at least in the short term. UND does have Coach Lennon, who is a straight shooter, that kids seem to enjoy and play hard for. I appreciate Coach Lennon, the man and the coach. He has been great for the Sioux football program. Having said that, he is not as good at either recruiting or game day coaching as Coach Bohl has proven to be. He will have to get better in both areas, both personally and as a staff. It will be an uphill battle for four more years, but let's go Sioux, and get it done! Next on the agenda, let's get that Nickel Trophy game back on both school's schedules, at least by the end of UND's transition. The players, fans and North Dakota citizens deserve it.
  11. Go screw yourself and don't tell me what I am or am not.
  12. Like the new board. Dislike the new logo.
  13. I was born in GF, HS in St. Paul, College at UND, DDS in Omaha, and now live in western ND. I love my GF, UND and ND roots. I would not have wanted to raise a family anywhere else. Now, my 3 adult children and their families live in Fargo/W.Fargo and I could not be happier. They have maintained their ND roots and chosen to stay in our state when they could have easily gone elsewhere. The Forum has every right, as do any of us, to be offended by that teacher's comments. They were uneducated, slanderous and incorrect statements. If it were a racial comparison instead of geographical, there would probably have been a National uproar. I do not, in this case, disagree with the Forum. I think we would all be better off to appreciate our similarities (Fargo vs. GF) as ND cities. The UND/NDSU rivalry is healthy ... to a point, then it becomes cancerous. We sometimes let it go too far. We are all North Dakotans. Some love Bison Football. Some love Sioux Hockey. Some call Fargo a Mpls. wannabe. Yet others call GF a Fargo wannabe. I truly believe both cities have great assets to offer their citizens, and as such we should embrace both their similarities and, at the same time, be thankful for their differences.
  14. The nets were bigger then.
  15. ... No, just thrown under one.
  16. I feel strongly that Lammy will play most of the games this season barring injury. Greico will play occassionally and Walski will continue to practice, open the gate and play if both are injured at the same time.
  17. There is no way that a forward in the AHL and one who is a part timer for the worst team in the NHL are better than, for example, Travis Zajac and Drew Stafford, who play significant roles on NHL Playoff teams!!! You are quickly losing credibility. Too late, it's gone!!!
  18. Heard Andy Murray (Team Canada head coach at World Championships where Toews currently is working out with the team. Also, father of Brady Murray.) from Finland on Home Ice over noon hour say that Toews would be playing for the BlackHawks next season. Don't know if he knows something or is just assuming, but he did say it. It was in the context of St.Louis signing EJ and how improved the Blues would be after their strong finish. Murray was talking about other non-playoff teams that would be better next season, too, and why.
  19. To Jim: Those Bison guys could be on to something! I could see some value in blogs here. One stop shopping and all.
  20. To quote Debra Barone: "... I'm tired, just call yourself an idiot."
  21. I wonder if they cut off beer sales after the 2nd period!!! That would suck.
  22. I love the NHL Playoffs. The intensity is amazing. Last night, the first night, was incredible with a 2 OT and a 4 OTer. Keep it up men, Sabres and Flames in the finals.
