Minnesota. Like it or not, they are the team you must go through to win. As are we to them, whether they admit it or not. Year in and year out, it come down to ND and Minny.

Made the final ten, as expected. http://www.grandforksherald.com/articles/i...mp;section=News

The simplistic answer to the posted question is that when SU went D-I, the Sioux decided not to play them any more in all sports, when the reality was only football would have suffered from scheduling SU at that time. So, now the shoe's on the other foot and SU is pretty much "returning the favor". Had we continued to play them in everything except football, where possible, as we should have, we would not be having this discussion now and it would be much easier to get back just the football game both schools need. Is it childish for SU to behave this way? Yes. Was it childish for UND to shut out SU before? Yes. Pick your poison. Both schools have been wrong, but as much as I hate to admit it, UND was wrong first, and that's why we are where we are ... ... For now ...

I would think for athletes that are young and in such excellent physical condition it would make no difference after 48 hours, barring injury. Normally, the mental side would be the bigger issue, but with what's at stake, that should not be a factor, either. Should simply be the team that practices, prepares and then plays best ... wins! As always in hockey, a hot goalie can steal a game. Go Sioux!

Recent experience with early departures shows that D-men have a much harder time adusting to the NHL than forwards do. Their mistakes are more glaring and can cost their teams games. Heck, Carle made a huge gaffe last night to cost San Jose the shutout. Luckily did not cost them the game, as it was a 7-1 laugher. He was Hobey winner last year and has even been sent to minors for "head" conditioning at one point this year. It is a huge adjustment for defensemen. Dion Phaneuf is a rare exception. So, yes I expect Toews will be gone. Maybe Oshie, Okposo and Wheeler. Chorney could go, too. But reality is that D-men will get the most benefit from another year in the WCHA, so it would not surprise me if E. Johnson played at Minny another year. I think it would be to his overall benefit. Chorney is more NHL ready right now, as is Jack Johnson after playing another year at Michigan (remember, he too had a ton of hype last year as a Freshman). It may come down to if St. Louis is a real playoff contender with their roster for next year. If not, they could afford for Johnson play and to make his mistakes next year to be more prepared the year after. Might also come down to if he enjoys the academic side of college hockey.

Well, if you google him and read his stuff ... let's just say you wouldn't want an opposing attorney to have a shot at cross-examining him, OK?

Can they just pull a Scooter Libby: "I don't remember." defense?
-
She was a forward the past two years and was moved to defense just this year. Played the whole year on the blue line. Has an amazing slap shot with accuracy. A big, strong player that could use some more improvement in her skating, as she came to hockey later than most. Great hand-eye coordination. Hardest shot in the state on the Girl's side, no question. Kylo is interesting, too. Started on defense two years ago and moved to forward. If she can put up numbers next year without Sell, she is a legitimate player, too. Has size and speed. Can finish. Need to wait and see how next year goes for her.
-
Plus, remember that in Girl's, there is no East and West. it is all one league, so stats should be able to be compared across locations. They all play each other. Hennessy is a D-man, not a forward. Also, Sell led the Lameroux twins in scoring the one year they all played in ND, when Sell was a Freshman and the twins were 8th graders. Am not saying that makes her on par with them, just saying she is a legitimate scorer.

Nice of him to quote Ralph Englestad!!!

... and I've noticed that every Red Baron Pizza sold in ND has less cheese than those sold in Minny!!!! Conspiricy, indeed ...

Just saw a UMD schedule for next year. Accoring to that, we play them in GF on Nov. 7 & 8, then away on Feb. 29 and March 1. Any scoop on next year's complete Sioux schedule?
-
No, it has NO chance of happening. Take out virtually.

Is it a pay site, or is it free?

He is a Rookie, leading scorer on the team, third in the league. Team is in first place, also. http://www.esportsdesk.com/leagues/rosters...playerID=203542 Cannot find where he has signed. Who has that info?

It is pure speculation to suggest who should leave the WCHA. Reality. No one is going to leave the WCHA. Why would you leave the best conference in the nation? MSU-M, AA and Tech have all had the ability to play with the best teams in the WCHA. And, it is still easier to recruit to the WCHA than it would be to CHA. We are going to have to look at adding teams, probably get to 12 if we add. Maybe then go to East and West halves for scheduling. Other possibility would be to start a whole new, farther West, league. Could be a revamped CHA or completely new or be the new WCHA with the Big Ten going it alone. If anything like that would happen, UND would be looked at to move West in it. Along with both Alaska schools, both Colorado schools, AF, BSU, UNO. U of BC is broaching NCAA inclusion (though it's a long shot for many reasons), and they would play D-I hockey. Anyone here like that? ... Didn't think so. Exactly why no other current WCHA school is going to leave, and you can't just kick them out. I think the only thing likely to happen in the next five years is expansion. Unless the Big Ten breaks away from WCHA and CCHA. Then all H - E - double hockey sticks breaks out! Don't think it's impossible. Remember when Notre Dame, Northern Michigan and Michigan were in the WCHA? I do.

The coaches have always picked the All-State Team. The media, on the other hand, selects the All-Tournament Team. It has been that way as long as I remember. Arnason should have been on the team, so I agree with that assessment. Herbel may have benefited from a split vote, but there are many here who have in past years wanted more than just the two candidates (EDC and WDA Sr. athlete), so now that it worked against you, remember you can't have it both ways. Dave Hoff, Bottineau's coach, says there are numerous talented players in the state, but he says Herbel is the best skater in the state. Put that info with his stats, and the pick is legit, doesn't mean someone else getting it would not have been legit, but I am comfortable Herbel is deserving of the award. Hoff has coached a long time, and knows his stuff. He has coached Team ND in Chicago Showcase.
