I can accept that. I love hockey, especially Sioux hockey. I am at most home games. I am not a hockey expert.

I'm not a hockey coach, and I don't play one on TV, but ... I think a part of what happens the rest of the way is what to do with Brian Lee. He is a great kid, with great vision and good size. But he has been a defensive liability in long stretches, and does not seem to possess a defensman's mentality. It seemed he saw less ice time at WJT as it progressed, so someone there saw it that way, too, maybe? I had the impression he was still one of our top six D-men, but maybe after the CC series, we could be OK moving him. What I mean by that is maybe the Sioux should consider trying Lee as a winger in 5 on 5 and PK situations, keeping him on the point for the PP, where he excels. He is not afraid to go in the corners. He presents a big body for the other team to try to move from in front of the net setting screens and forcing the goalie to work harder to find the puck (something the Sioux have been very poor at this year, and it must improve for them to succeed regardless of what they do with Mr. Lee) and he has good enough hands to put away rebounds. Am I way out in left field here? Possible, I know!

And, even if you don't like it, at least one finalist will be from the West.

I could care less about the validity of the post involved but ... here's a thought for you, UNDhockey22: This is a message board, and as long as the comments are not obscene, people are free to post as they wish. You are also free to disagree. But don't tell someone to keep it to themselves. It is simply not your place to do so!

In Williston Saturday: Jamestown 1, Williston 0. Very entertaining HS hockey game.

Bismarck High 5, Williston 0. Friday night in Williston. Bismarck looked very composed, though not overly skilled. Seeberg and Hillman were the difference. Also thought LeBere had a solid game on defense and BHS's third line was better than I expected. Never looked out of place or intimidated on the ice.

Even though many of their fans were totally obnoxious when WJT was in Forks, I will root for the Canadian team to beat Russia and for Toews to continue to shine. Outside of Downie, who's not to like on their team? Price has been exceptional, and there is certainly no Russian player I am rooting for!

If he gets 487 more posts during this game, he'll be there! Sweeeeet!

I'm listening to Canadian broadcast on Vancouver internet station 1040 and watching French stream. Audio is 30 seconds behind video. Canada's radio team is excellent and easy to listen to. Listened to USA yesterday, and they were too excitable. Couldn't tell what was going on.

My information is that Burchard gave him a two game suspension and that Burchard has apologized to the Williston coaching staff for the incident. From what I know of Coach Burchard, that is along the lines of what I would have expected. He is a breath of fresh air.

Don't know names. But a tryout with scrimmages in December would have to have yielded some "grinders" instead of summer camp all-stars. Maybe even a goalie with some grit who can eliminate most rebound opportunities. I do remember two years ago they left off an OHL goalie (name escapes me) who was like 14-1 in Nov/Dec with several shutouts. We took Montoya and Schnieder. Montoya (who, to his credit, had won gold the previous year) was awful, and had been for Michigan leading up to the Tourney. So, we left the "hot" goalie off the roster that year, and it certainly cost us.

Well, I said weeks ago in the WJ thread that we would get smoked, and we are. These players know they are locks for spots and don't have to work for it after the summer camp. They should be expected to "compete" for those spots right up to the end. We should at least do it the Canadian way and start camp one week early with 40-50 players and make cuts! I remember being at the hotel that Slovakia was at for the GF WJ the final weekend of Sioux play before it started, and they still had four to send home after their exhibition games. Every practice, every shift mattered. Our kids are too soft. used to being coddled and promised spots 2 weeks before with no consequences for poor play. It is the fault of the system. They need to be hardened by the fire of play well or go home. That certainly means both physical and mental baptism by fire, too. USA Hockey is just not as organized as Team Cananda, plus we seem too political in our picks. Many players develop after they have been passed over by the NDTP, and usually those players are left out. Is it to make USA Hockey look good because their NDTP players are selected overwhelmingly? Don't know, but it sure looks that way to me. And it is not doing Team USA any favors.

This was a classless act by a classless player. I think Chad Burchard is a good young coach who preaches discipline. It will be interesting to see how he responds to this. Some things happen away from public scrutiny and can be dealt with privately, discipline wise. This was done very much in public, so whatever discipline comes of it should be public as well. It would be sad if there were no action taken by Minot High.

I think Williston played their worst game that night, so I would suspect a one goal game, excepting an ENer at the end. Either team could win this game. Goaltending, penalties and getting the first goal become key. Minot is always tough to beat at home.

An unfortunate "other" consideration, is that during the transition years into full D-I statue, we will need to continue to play D-II schools in some sports, especially football, basketball, volleyball and baseball. The state of Minnesota, educationally speaking, is on record as opposing Indian nicknames. We may find that without a conference affiliation that St. Cloud State, Mankato, Duluth, Bemidji et al may fall in line with U of M and not play us either. This would leave us with NAIA schools and long travel partners to try to fill schedules. St. Cloud is already on record about this and I could see the others following suit considering Minnesota is just left of Ted Kennedy, politically speaking.

Hope this doesn't become another Brady Murray situation!

I do not know what has gone on with the players, character and accountability wise. But, after five years, every player there was recruited by Rivard and/or her staff. And any coach is just as responsible for a recruit's character as their playing ability. Coaches must recruit the whole package. So, if there are issues in these areas, it still falls back on the coach. Can you miss on a player or two? Of course, happens all the time. Addition by subtraction, and you move on. It just seems there have been way too many of these issues on the women's hockey team.

Read the highlighted portions of your own statement. How can you be torn if you believe what you said? We have the nicest arena and training facility in the nation, yet we can't get top notch women players to commit to UND. It just might have been the coaching staff. Forest/trees ... nose/face ...

Next door to the south, as I remember. On east side of street. Small white house.

My Mom grew up at 1614 Lewis Blvd. Small world sometimes. House was lost in the 97 flood, I believe.

Born in GF. Moved away at 2.5 to see the world (or wherever the railroad took my Dad). Lived in order: St. Paul, Minot, Spokane, Minot, Sioux City, Spokane, Minot, St. Paul (HS), GF (UND), Omaha (more school) and on to Williston (past 26 years).
