  1. That's funny -- and so true. Curiously, though, it's not an argument for just our Indian friends. The problems associated with Roughriders as far as its dark history toward American Indians was brought up by a number of folks at the "Just North Dakota" protest last evening. Seems to be a popular sentiment out there right now from various viewpoints in the nickname battle.
  2. I agreed with you up until your last sentence. The Walk actually drew hundreds of people from all walks of life and exceeded expectations of both the organizers and of those on the Fighting Sioux forever side of the fence. I have a birds eye picture of the mass of folks at that rally and it was quite impressive. People that were critical of the Walk for Change (such as Rob Port) were very interested before it happened what the attendance would be. Once it was reported that the numbers were actually strong, their tactics changed to criticize it in other ways. Those t-shirts hit a nerve. Though personally I thought the reaction was overblown. But to say it was a small gathering is just not accurate. It dwarfed what took place yesterday on campus. But again your greater point is valid. I don't put much stock one way or the other in these kinds of demonstrations as far as support for a cause.
  3. Last year, we got our first commit on July 29. --Grady. This year we have four verbals five days earlier than that. . Nice work Bubba and Co.!!!!!!
  4. There we're a few but a lot more Fighting Sioux apparel.
  5. Well, I was kidding. Both Brad and Tom are very good friends of mine, and Virg, too .... And I beg to differ on their journalistic ethics.
  6. His 40 time is fast, at least the one that is reported. -- 4.47
  7. Recruiting tape says he's 5-10, 185 pounds. probably somewhere in the middle. By comparison, Jer Garmin was 5-9, 190 last year and was much smaller when he was a sophomore (should have been his redshirt freshman year), which is probably when this guy would see the field at the earliest.
  8. You're so harsh with people, you brute, Sic!
  9. That's extreme wishful thinking.
  10. I know you know this, but I think it should be said that the same thing could be said of the current athletes who think we should remain N.D., it's just that most of those that we've seen displayed on this message board have been from one sport only, and most of them are from places such as Canada and Minnesota and other far flung places in the U.S. and beyond.
  11. I highly doubt that, especially at the national media level where it truly matters.
  12. I hear it a lot and cringe every time its brought up. Here are just a few examples of where it was part of the in-game story line: 1. UND men's basketball vs. Kansas Jayhawks 2. UND football vs. Fresno State 3. UND football vs. San Diego State 4. UND football vs.San Jose State 5. UND football vs. Idaho 6. UND basketball vs. Wisconsin 7. UND women's basketball vs. Texas A&M 8. UND football vs. Missouri St. 9. UND men's basketball at Utah 10. UND men's basketball at Marquette 11. UND men's baskeball at Minnesota Gophers
  13. That sounds like a difference without a distinction. You mean if you're an activist member, you're not a regular member.
  14. These nebulous "potential donors" that many who want no nickname keep referring to are about has hazy and imminent as those "potential NCAA and Big Sky sanctions and penalties" that the new nickname crowd likes to trot out. Hell, if we stay just "North Dakota," I'm expecting Phase II of the HPC to get shovels in the ground this fall and for all of our athletic scholarship issues to be a thing of the past with all the donations that are going to start rolling in.
  15. You beat me to it.
  16. I certainly would. The University means more to me than what we call ourselves on the athletics field.
  17. Well there's this. At least the Hockey SID gets the bigger picture. https://twitter.com/UNDSID/status/624592044237811712/photo/1
  18. Staving off the tide of knee-jerk revisionism.
  19. Really never has. It's just that no one ever pays attention unless it is about something ultra important that the public can wrap its collective head around.
  20. They (the GOBC) have been eerily quiet of late, haven't they?
  21. Welcome to the world of public sausage, er, I mean, policy making! I. am. not. surprised!
  22. Who knows? I was wrong on the committee keeping it in the running the other day. It just seems like whenever anything like this happens and folks start sharpening their pitchforks -- whether it be on campus with faculty or in the public domain -- the Kelley administration has succumbed to those pressures.
