  1. True. My hunch is that the consultant is not a big fan of "North Dakota," either, and that its staying power with the committee has to do with certain members who are being persuaded by public input (nothing wrong with that). I have not seen any media quotes or tweets that have stated one way or another how Kelly O'Keefe and Padilla view just "North Dakota," nor have I heard any at the two meetings that I was in attendance.
  2. My gut is that "North Dakota" stays on the short list (however many that is). And it will be the winner after a public vote, with Rough Riders being a distant but sizable runner up. However, despite its popularity in the public voting, I don't see Kelley choosing "North Dakota," and, lest we forget, Kelley is the end-all-be-all final determiner in all of this. I don't see him picking it due to the myriad reasons that have been hashed and rehashed on here and in the media over the past few months, including its marketability disadvantages, the presumption that it provides a vacuum that would be filled by the banned nickname, and the sense that all it does is kick the can down the road a few more month, years, etc., preventing any kind of real resolution for the school, its student athletes and the new president. Again, I could be totally wrong in all of this. I will be anxious (in the truest sense of the word) to see how this all plays out.
  3. I'm hopeful but more cautious, as I thought that we would have handled Weber better than we did last year at home.
  4. If the corners and safeties do their jobs and are effective, the front 7 could have a field day. Got to keep the quarterback in check when he scrambles and can't give up third and longs like last year.
  5. Not sure on the highest but Greely, Co (UNC) is at 4660 feet asl, Bozeman, MT (MSU) is at 4800 feet asl, Cedar City (SUU) is at 5850 feet asl and Flagstaff (NAU) is at 7000 feet asl -- 220 feet lower than Laramie.
  6. I agree that the superiority gap isn't necessarily huge, but i have yet to see preseason accolades that are worth more than the paper they're printed on, especially at the FCS level where media unfamiliar with the conference as a whole tend to throw darts to make their picks and where coaches let waterboys and graduate assistants make their picks for them. I know it's different with Izzo and Caillou and with Wayne Nelson and Tom Miller, but I'm talking FCS in general.
  7. Thanks, Johnboy! As for UND....I'm curious what Disterhaupt has shown coaches to justify an early leapfrog over Labat. I fully realize things could change much between now and The Pokes game. The LBs should be the strength of Schmidt's 3-4 scheme, like old times. Don't sleep on Dranka and Greely on the line, too.
  8. About those linebacking units, anyone? Anyone?
  9. Can someone tell me why this crap even matters at this point? Talk about petulant children in the effin' sandbox. I think we've exhausted this pi$$ing match once again....when both sides are arguing about inside info that no one but the AD staffs in question would be privy to, and that there is no way to prove any of it other than with statements that make it sound like you work for UND/NDSU Athletics or that you're a fly on the wall when these conversations were had or that you're drinking buds with Ryan Powell or Jeremy Jorgenson and they leak you "the truth" about "what really went down" or you have some incredible ability to read between the lines of media reports to discern "what they actually said/meant," --then this dumpster fire has officially turned into a wild fire that would rival those that are taking place in western Canada and it needs a serious dousing of Devine proportions. What I really would love to know is some insight and perspective on a comparison of the two teams' linebacking units. Any thoughts?
  10. Add Big rangy DBs Hilton and Webb to the not coming list, per Tom Miller. I really wanted those two.
  11. No Tahje Hartley? That's a new one on me.
  12. From experience covering these types of things, I can only say that a lot of things can happen in #5, when you leave it super vague like that. We shall see.
