  1. I would say yes. That would seem as purposeful in undermining the spirit of the settlement as would going with no nickname. Just my two pennies.
  2. Less than 100 people, maybe about 50 people when you exclude AD support staff. There were some students, former volleyballers: Nikki Husfeldt, Jessica Fontes, Felcia Ulrich and Emily Thompson. A number of football players were in attendance, too, including Ratelle, Disterhaupt, Harmeston, Bell, Cox, Nevermann and William James. As for the scrimmage, I was really impressed with the power of newcomers Place and Harnett and the creativity of Fraase to keep the opposition off guard as to when she might spike and when she might just tip it over and let it drop for an easy point. Harnett has some hops for only 5-9; she can get up over the ball and put it down with authority. The blocking tandem of Dooley and Kaczarowska looked quite formidable yesterday night. I can't wait to see what we look like when all the firepower is on the same side!
  3. Not disagreeing one bit with what Ira and Csonked Out are saying. I just wish Joe would step up and show us what we all know he is capable of and separate himself from the pack and quit making it so damn hard for coaches to go with him. I was at most of the fall camp practices and Joe and Keaton were always neck and neck regardless of the which team they were working with. If you want to start and you have the ability then leave no doubt and the rest will sort itself out. That has not been done by any QB in spring or fall camp.
  4. That seasonal rushing average wasn't solely Jer's doing. Once the hogs got in sync and started blocking, Jer's average shot up the last few games. A season's worth of that kind of blocking up front would have made a huge difference. I think we're disregarding the first eight games and betting that the last four games last year was the real story --especially the final three games. Just need to have that kind of push up front from the get go this year.
  5. Cool to see two one-time walk-ons on the two-deep at WR with Seibel and Stanely. Must be rewarding for them and shows their hard work paid off these last two years.
  6. And Miller is going to be fresh, coming off an injury. I have not gotten to see much of him this fall camp due to injury. He was a good one last year when spelling starters, and starting games in his own right. I am excited he is being considered well enough to start against the Pokes! This really seasons up the starting hogs (Meehan, Anderson, Boas, Miller and Stockwell).... Yum, Yum.... get some!
  7. Wow! Interesting....... Some I like... some I question, but that's the way it goes. When just taking the two-deeps into account, I was a dismal 64 percent correct (18/28, counting special teamers) on the offensive side of the ball -- or a D- on a big curve. I faired better on the offensive side, with 18/22 correct for 82 percent -- or a B- on a curve.
  8. yeah no doubt ... He started taking reps at RB late dye to injuries. I never thiujht it would stick this far. I saw him more in the slot or only on returning duties.
  9. Boy, did I misjudge that one! Yikes!
  10. Last year, when Jer Garmin was named No. 1 RB to open the season, people were surprised, too.
  11. Woops! A nod to PCM and his Facebook page for highlighting this.
  12. Thanks.... yes, I had a second thought on that.... I went back and changed it, though, it still might not be accurate with the whole A, AA, AAA level system. I grew up in a time when it was Class A, Class B and 9-man.
  13. Heidelbaugh is doing very well for a young man who is scaling a learning curve as steep as Mt. Everest -- N.D. Class B to FCS Division 1 -- he is still a project that has a couple of years to hone his craft.
  14. I think you are spot on here. Ira might have some insight here, but the desire to keep Joe's recovery on track and unabated, might play a role in whether he starts or not. He is just way too valuable to this team.
  15. Ira, because of the closeness of the QB competition, I won't be surprised whatever the final result will be. As you know, and as we have seen, injury int the Big Sky can and will happen. I think all three have to be ready day one -- and they will be. WE have a good problem at QB, but I do appreciate your comments that the "back ups" can start somewhere else. They are proud competitors, and I hope they stick it out at UND for two more years.
  16. I see Connor as a very good depth guy, this year, and he will definitely be in the starting mix for a two-deep job next year.
  17. I hear you, there! Let's get this thing rolling!!!!!

  20. After splitting the exhibition part of the seasons, UND soccer came out tough and played great defense against a Big 10 and a MAC opponent this weekend, losing 2-0 to Northwestern and winning a gritty come from behind game in the final minutes against Northern Illinois 2-1. NIU was fresh off a shut out victory over Big 12 Iowa State. Sounds like the young freshman goalie Swenson is a good one, as are Freshmen Koberinski, Moller and Geiwitz. Geiwitz was especially impressive in the back row, almost single-handedly shutting down the huskies on her side of the field, while using some creative maneuvers to get the ball up field and in scoring position. Upper classwomen Hyduke and Zoe Foster calmed the young UND squad enough so they didn't get discouraged when they were down 1-0 in the final minutes. UND then tied it, then won it with only three minutes left in regulation. Way to go!
  21. Yeah, I thought he would be right up there this year. He was coming on strong. Should be ok with Iverson and a little jostling around with other folks from different positions.
  22. FB Coyne is out for the year with a torn meniscus.
  23. Compartitive scoring is so whacky! Wow! That is an eye-opener, to say the least.
