  1. People need to realize that its going to get worse before it gets better. They are starting from scratch with this roster. There is zero depth along the offensive line and when you want to get back to running the ball, that is not a good thing. I am afraid they are going to have to take their lumps next year, kind of like USD did in Glenn's first year, and just get the scheme's installed and slowly work in players that can actually run them effectively.
  2. He can, yes.
  3. Interesting note about the game: UND is favored on 5dimes. UND is -125 and WI is -115. Not a huge difference, pretty much a pick'em, but thought that was surprising. Colgate and Ferris State are a pick'em.
  4. He is talking Big Sky expectations. However, you are correct with overall record - absolutely unacceptable to lose all but one non-conference game. As many have stated before, this program does not seem to be getting a whole lot better, even as the players got older and more experienced. They had the same success 4 years ago that they had this year (schedules were different, yes).
  5. Just because your staff is underpaid does not mean that you should be unorganized and lack leadership. The points GeauxSioux made had absolutely nothing to do with compensation. They had everything to do with effort and want-to.
  6. Omaha is 6.5 point favorites. Seems like its way off....until you factor in UND is going to show up with 9 guys and only two of them are starters.
  7. Facilities, Athletic Budget, Academics, Endowment. Those are all more important than 'current' ranking of a football team. Things change in a heartbeat in sports.
  8. Jones is the last coach from the transition that hasn't been fired. Brewster has worked out quite well. Bubba appears to be doing alright with cleaning up the mess that was left for him, but we don't know yet. Faison has fired the softball, volleyball, and swimming coaches and brought in somebody new. I cannot believe Jones has much leash left, considering its not unbelievable to think a good coach could come in here and win the Big Sky or at least make championship game immediately with the talent that is in place.
  9. That is the truth, yes, that if they are same weekend then the B is out. But, the CC would absolutely love to have the B, brings in major concession dollars, etc. Some years in the past they got both. Huge.

    2014 Recruiting

Of course Bisonation didn't update their website to show his only offer was Army. Plus they tweeted to Dom about how big of a "get" he was. Is it really a big "get" if you are the only visit he had and his only real offer (since Army was obviously not in his plans)? Kind of hard to not get him.
  11. What was point of building Pentagon if new one is going to be much bigger?
  12. Question: what is the Sanford Pentagon and what is Sioux Falls Arena? Pentagon the new one? Where is Summit tourney at?

    2014 Recruiting

More than likely has not graduated yet. Plus he is only 6'2".
  14. They didn't hire him to "coach TE's". They hired him to strengthen their recruiting in Chicago and also coach TE's.
  15. Golladay, Bartels, Norberg, Sharp, Reyes, Kuksa, Cheatom. They are all young and supposed to be major contributors (Golladay already was and was given a full ride by Northern Illinois to transfer there - what does that tell you?) All these guys are too young to be all-conference, you mook. They just started recruiting in Chicago two years ago.
  16. Along those lines, I have heard that GT did send it back but it was not a straight 2-1 anymore. More along the lines of UND playing there twice as one option. Another option was first two at NDSU then last one at UND, but do not know what the buyout is on that last game. This is what I was told but is not official by any means. Obviously, none of those are very advantageous to UND whatsoever (unless they get a 150-200k guarantee for the two games at NDSU offer). Then it would be tolerable but still not ideal. As with any team, home games make the money and getting NDSU at home would make way more than playing there or anywhere.

You're right, NDSU didn't come off looking like arrogant jerks in the article. Notice the kid didn't complain about the recruiting tactics of any other school? Go re-read the article Dan.

Hold them to the last day or til the end of the recruiting visit? Apparently, your coaches try and strong-arm players into committing immediately or they threaten them with giving their scholarship away.

    2014 Recruiting

Some rather interesting comments from Ezra Szczyrbak on the recruiting process and the way NDSU handled it: Classy recruiting style down there, force the kid to commit on the spot or he loses his scholarship. That is about as bush league as it gets. Not saying they are the only one's in the country that do it but there is no need to force a kid to commit on the visit. Let him go home and regroup with his parents/coach then call back. Also, I thought they "pulled his scholarship"? http://www.northstarfootballnews.com/news_article/show/350557?referrer_id=877078
  20. Sulky Saul was absolutely mystified at how they could be left out of the NIT tournament. (they then proceed to lose in first round of CBI)
  21. Or we could beat a team with an RPI of 113 and call that a "signature win". Many ways to go with it.
  22. Have you watched them play? They aren't getting better and do not know how to actually find a man and box that person out. Literally incapable.

    2014 Recruiting

I know the previous staff had recruited Brandon Hines from Homestead but the new staff never followed up with him, for whatever reason. Hines is a weird situation, he had some early offers but it appears they must have been pulled because he didn't have anyone to sign with on Feb 5th. He looks like a good player, there must be something else going on. I do see he is visiting NDSU in a couple weeks. Like I said, strange deal.
  24. I dont need to tell you anything because you already know that Hedberg didnt want to come with Bubba, right? The fact is Hedberg and Rudolph were HC and Off Coord. at St Cloud together. Bubba hired Rudolph as his second hire immediately after Schmidt. Why he chose him, only he could say.
