...and their offense is worse than UND's. Figure it out. When the coaches say that Stony Brook had the best defense they have faced this year and say how they kicked the crap out of UConn all game on tape, I believe it. That being said, Montana's defense is probably better.

In the second half vs. Stony Brook, yes that was the philosophy. Did anybody say that it was the UND's new offensive philosophy for every game moving forward? UND chose that philosophy vs. Stony Brook but threw 3-4X that much vs. the other three opponents. Every game is different.

My point to everyone is this: The offense vs. Stony Brook was called the way it was because of that particular game situation. That does not mean the next week they will throw 7 times and run up the middle 29 times. Believe it or not, each game presents a different scenario of events. At Missouri State, UND threw 28 times. Lost 38-nuts. At San Jose State, UND threw 20 times. Lost 42-10 Vs. Bobby Mo, UND threw 22 times. Won 16-13 Vs. Stony Brook, UND threw 7 times. Won 13-3. Passing 10-15 more times doesn't equal wins. Offense, Defense, and Special Teams ALL playing together is what has gotten UND two wins.

Has the game been played yet? Geez. It's on Saturday, why don't you wait and see how it goes before telling us what they did. They will more than likely be losing at some point, so you guys will get all the chances you want to see this 50/50 P/R, diverse offense that you all know we have.

If you are talking about the first half then yes, you have a point that they could try to get more done. If you are talking about the second half then, yep, the offense was pretty much trying to run the clock and keep the opposing team's point total down. Seemed to work for that particular game.

Once again, was UND playing "catchup" against Stony Brook? No, Stony Brook was, hence the play-calling. Pretty sure the coaches wouldn't run up the middle three times if they are losing by 14 points. Also, remember the Missouri State game when UND was losing by 20 or 30 points? How did the passing game look when we were trying to play catchup?

The defense is playing better but they are going to get lit up a few times here. We know that because everyone's defense is getting litup by EWU and MSU. Its the other games where the defense needs to show up. Hold down Montana, Portland State, Southern Utah, NAU. Those are the games where the opponent's offense's are just OK and the defense has to step up big.

You would you run "play-action" up 13-3 in 4th quarter over a team with a defensive line that is WAY better than your offensive line? I wouldn't.

The way the defense was dominating made it easier for the staff to say we are just going to run the ball, take time off the clock and win the game. Each time they ran the ball three plays, 1.5 to 2 minutes came off the clock. Also, with how inept the offense was there was absolutely no sense in throwing the ball and getting it tipped, picked off, or suffer a blind side sack to change the game. The offense was horrible in the second half. But, you cannot argue with the strategy because it worked.

Not trying to rationalize but people do need to realize that Stony Brooks defense will be probably the second best defense UND faces all year. Montana appears to have a pretty good one. That is not my opinion, that is from a staff member. Once again, not saying UND won't have trouble with other defenses this year because they are going to have trouble 8 more times. Just stating how good Stony Brooks' defense is. The problem is their offense might be as bad as our's.

Kid has a very quick release and seems fairly accurate. Plays against the top level of competition in Colorado also.

Not like you have an agenda or anything, right? You are the only guy on here that mentions Young in damn near every post. He didn't play with the last staff and hasn't played with this one. Figure it out. You are also the first person that I know of to call Rudolph "arrogant". He is a great guy and about as down to earth as anyone. Could he be a stubborn offensive coordinator who wants to do it his way? Like most every other OC, yes.

What league is Clemson in? MEAC or Big South?

About the WR's, this is the second staff in a row that doesn't think Young has what it takes to be a WR. Can't blame it on the coaches anymore. They all started from scratch with this staff and he still isn't playing.

No they didn't. Getting a couple unblocked sacks/tackles for loss doesn't mean they played well. They were a detriment vs. the run game, all game.

There are TWO threads going for a game we are not involved in. Would all of you please move on? If we spent half this much energy talking about our own team maybe the interest would elevate and things would be improve quicker.

Name one person who said Valpo was a "measuring stick"? Everyone in the country knows they are gawd awful and the general consensus after the game was that the game proved absolutely nothing. Robert Morris would beat Valpo by 40.

Like I said above. People are severly overestimating the talent on this team. The coaches are doing the best they can, obviously, but if the lineman cannot block there isn't much they can do. That is just one position group that needs work. Youth and average talent brings inconsistent play.

I like his tape. Kid is tough and plays to the whistle. That is what we need.

The UND linebackers do not stack up well vs. other FCS teams. Our OLB's have been bad thus far and Will Ratelle is pretty much the only consistent bright spot. The young guys are just too green to play with any consistency yet.
