  1. So now your going into the metrics of "possessions"? Let's say SUU comes out to start the 2nd half and goes 3 and out. Then, UND goes on a 8 minute drive. Does that technically eat up one of SUU's "possessions" (based on avg. possession time)? Are they back to even again?
  2. One more question: Why did Belichick take the wind and give Denver the ball to start the game?
  3. Wow. Well, I guess 4th graders get it right sometimes then. Carry on....
  4. Did you read what I wrote? Read it again. His calculated decision worked out perfectly and you are on here saying it didn't. You are not smarter than Bubba and were not out in Cedar City to see how the wind affected the anemic UND offense. Tom Brady was not out in Utah last Saturday, either. People are WAY too obsessed with starting a half with the ball and how huge that is. Most games it will work out that way, sometimes it doesn't.
  5. What was the score of the Patriots game at half? I wouldn't give the other team the ball first, either. Here is what I wrote in the other thread which fully explains it and verifies his decision;
  6. You are correct, I reversed the order. What I stated still stands as how it went down and why. The only decision that could be questioned is taking the wind to start the game. The halftime score forced Bubba to take the wind for the third quarter. In essence, SUU having the ball twice did nothing for them.

    Halloween

Yes. My kid hit about 40-45 houses I figured. He and his buddies had a blast!
  8. Some of them can be hidden.
  9. Very mobile, good arm strength. But he is 18 and has never played before.
  10. UND didn't screw up the coin toss. They chose to take the wind after losing the toss. That is not "screwing it up". If the Texas thing never happened this wouldn't even be brought up. UND chose to take the wind in the second half instead of the ball. Why? Because they were down 21-3 with an average offense and knew they needed to catch up NOW or be down too far to even get close. How did it work out? They scored two TD's in the 3rd/start of 4th and made it 21-17, which is exactly what they hoped for. They at least now had a shot. Bubba didn't know how his defense would play in the fourth quarter but he knew damn well that they better try and catch up now instead of later into the wind. His decision to take the wind in the 3rd quarter worked about as well as it possibly could have.

Bubba just announced that Mollberg is done for the year.

Here is why I didn't like it: what was there to gain? OK, so you get 4-8 yards and get the first down. Now you are only 65 yards away from the end zone instead of 70. The offense was going to struggle into the wind, Bartels arm is too weak to throw downfield very far. Hell, they struggle in the Alerus Center. So they may have gotten another first down, maybe. On the flip side - if they don't get it, SUU is setup at your 29 yard line with the wind, already up 7-3. Fast forward: Three plays later its 14-3 and you are still going into the wind for 11 more minutes.
  13. At least that massive dry ditch can be used for bird hunting now and occasionally deer hunting. Makes nice bedding areas.

Now that the hardest part of the schedule is over, let's play Bartels! Boy, that sounds fair to Mollberg.

    2015 Recruiting

He will be ahead of Bartles after one week of spring ball and then it's down to him and Joe. Not saying he will beat out Joe but Studsrud is pretty good too and can run better than the other two.
  16. Well, that makes two teams that could be bitching about losing this game. Personally, I think Montana would have a wee bit more to complain about if they lost the game but whatever. UND mounted a huge comeback that was comprised of a defensive TD and two point conversion just to be in the game at the end vs. the #7 team in the country. I am not ready to start bitching about how we lost this one. Now, if we lose to Portland State.....
  17. The punter/holder, Bolduc, is a walk-on.
  18. How happy would you be if you found out the week before Game 1 that your kicker/punter, who took all the #1 reps for three weeks of fall camp, was ineligible due to his own doing? I wouldn't play him either.
  19. The snap came right to his helmet, which is easily good enough. The hold just got goofed up. That made Taubenheim be off by a half-step or so.
  20. Which one was to win it with a minute left? I cannot believe that all snaps, holds and kicks don't happen the exact same way, every time.
  21. That's fine. My point is neither should be on the field and that is a verified fact. So, when these crucial situations pop-up don't surprised that something may go wrong. Also, the snap was OK but the hold was worse. The timing was completely off - Taubenheim stood no chance. BTW, Meindel has been eligible to play for two weeks now and Bubba hasn't even let him dress. If Bubba wanted to sell out and put everything on the field he could to win, Meindel would be playing. Bubba is sending a message to his team for the future and the thing that sucks is they lose to Montana because the kid F'ed them over and put Bubba in that situation.
  22. You guys should be redirecting your anger towards a certain punter/kicker who became ineligible over the summer and completely F'ed over the entire team. He would have been kicking the field goal and more than likely made it. BTW, the hold was bad and the timing was completely off. Blaming a true freshman who was not prepared by the staff to be the kicker until week 3 of fall camp (due to above-mentioned player) is pretty low, IMO. The kid has done fairly well considering he shouldn't be kicking in the first place. Oh, and the true freshman holder is the walk-on punter who also should not be playing due to above mentioned player. I don't know about you guys but I sucked my first year at my current work.
  23. Great point. I am shocked that those two 18 year olds we had holding/kicking got nervous with the game on the line vs. #7 team in the country. Shocked I say.

    IPF Status

Shouldn't be cost cutting. They brag on twitter constantly about how it's the "largest IPF in the country" or something like that. At least for the next three months. P.S. - they I didn't see a turf area for the lineman to work like UND will have.
  25. Funny story regarding that. Little birdie told me UND called a strong safety blitz off the offense's right side (play side) on that play. Reyes or Blackmon didn't blitz due to confusion. Whoever was supposed to blitz off the edge would have come in and met the handoff untouched 5 yards deep in the end zone for the easy safety. Hinojosa shot the A gap so fast that the fullback turned to try and get him instead of be a lead blocker. This team is getting there. Little things are slowly being shored up.
