Sic or Jim, can you take care of this? The 'fake UND fan' thing is getting really old. Do other fan bases do this?

Update to the Shanks situation: I found out through my contacts how it went down. UND was the only Dakota school that seriously recruited Shanks. The other three felt he was "out of reach" due to Pac 12 offers, etc. so they moved on. Coach Ahelegbe at UND had previously coached Carson in AAU ball so he continued to recruit him til the end (knowing he was not going to get him). Fast forward to a month ago: Shanks decides he is going to transfer back home and obviously the Gophers are his first choice. Makes sense. However, he cannot get admitted. During this time he is still in contact with UND. Long story short - here he is. Since UND stayed with him in high school and forged a relationship, they became his "local" team (along with Gophers) in case he didn't like it in Utah. Funny side note: First team to call him after he announces publically that he is transferring? NDSU.

Did anybody say he was the next Rik Smits? He is 7' tall and fairly athletic. There isn't a mid-to-lower level team in the country that wouldn't love to have him. Then again, NDSU has Dexter Werner so I understand your point.

What you said above is what I wish would have happened. The main reason why there were no recruits this past weekend is because Brian "38-Day" Faison decided to make the process last so damn long so the staff was not in place and running by New Years Day.

So it seems like it's playing out exactly like we said yesterday. That's good news. Hopefully, he gets admitted by tomorrow.

Are you joking? You obviously have no idea how much goes into a recruiting weekend. They only have 3 full time coaches on campus that are up to speed. Three. It takes an entire staff of coaches to pull off a successful recruiting weekend that normally has 10-15 kids and their parents. Tours, meetings, meals, events, etc. It takes a lot of man power. Also, the NCAA dead period was just lifted last Monday so they had this past week to visit with recruits for the first time. Some of them literally for the first time. There was no way in hell they could have gotten a full slate of kids assembled in 1 week. Newsflash: the recruits also have other visits lined up so trying to get them in for a weekend is tough enough. This is the exact reason why most on this board were bitching about how long Faison was taking to hire the coach. If he got the coach hired in mid-December like then that coach would have had his staff on campus and ready to go a day or two after Xmas. Look no further than that joke of a hiring process for why this weekend was not able to happen. They may have been able to scab out a 5-10 person group with the right amount of time. They at least would have had an 'almost' full staff on campus.

UND starts school on Tuesday. He needs to decide by then to get admitted, enrolled in classes, etc. Also, the interview was from Thursday. He must have found out Friday and let UND know. He cannot sit around and wait for a school that starts later because if he does not get admitted he will not play at all next season.

Why was he at UND game with his Dad on Saturday? Didnt get admitted to UM.

Bohl did say "if there is a better team in America he hasnt seen it". Suffice it to say, he wasnt too impressed with the two teams in the BCS NC game.

So next January the inside guys will go 6-9, 6-9, 6-10, 7-0. Not bad.

Wow, that is quite the jump from taking visits to UND and Southern Utah. Boise must have lost a few OL prospects in the past week or so.

Expanding on my comment about their staff, I am hearing their new D-line coach Cain may be in the running for the New Mexico State def. coord. job. If he gets it he is gone. Our staff is looking pretty good right now experience wise.

Right, cause it's a really even playing field too (see three NC's). Doesn't NDSU already have 2-3 ND kids locked up, presumably the better players in state? NDSU also has continuity on the staff and UND has zero. Big for recruiting - no recreating the wheel on their end. Not exactly even.

Iowa State is garbage with another new offense and Montana is at home. Won't be that daunting for them.
