  1. Speaking of NDSU the year they beat Kansas (2010) and snuck into the playoffs: go look at that resume. Yuck, they lost to 4 of the top 5 teams in the league and beat the worst teams and got in. Ugly resume, my how things have changed.
  2. UND-1

    2016 Season

You need to realize that the staff did not recruit either of these backup QB's. They owe them nothing. That is the harsh reality of college athletics and the reason why so many transfer after a coaching change. To have two full rides tied up in your 2nd and 3rd string QB's and neither is very good is bad for the team overall. Very bad. If those two are never going to play again, barring injury, why would they deserve a full ride scholarship from a new staff?
  3. Poly will have over 300 yards rushing, IMO. The deal will be keeping them out of end zone via FGs or turnovers.
  4. I should have wrote "current". Have you?
  5. Who said anything about the fans? No idea what you are saying. The rest of the teams are supporting the university, why doesn't the hockey team have to?
  6. Not one current hockey player wore the Sioux jersey. Have you ever heard a hockey player come out and support the university itself? It's all about their precious nickname that none of them even played under. Embarrassing.
  7. A wee bit of a difference in intelligence between the player responses here. http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/3885568-und-sports-players-coaches-say-culture-wont-change-new-nickname
  8. Good to see the Hockey players handled it well, also. First class tweets out of those guys, as always.
  9. You forgot---- "our corners are NAIA level", "the ceiling for this program is 6 wins", "SIU's defense didn't get better, why would UND's?", "Studsrud is not an FCS level QB". Anything else?
  10. What's the "right way"?
  11. Went against the hockey team's campaign and voted Roughriders.
  12. That is good, no doubt. Glad he still comes to the games. He should have been a bit more impressed on Saturday vs. the other weeks. Not there yet but the MSU game showed some improvement.
  13. Comparing the difficulties/issues with playing RB vs. CB in college, as a true freshman, shows how much you know about football. Seriously. The cornerback play is not very good but was much better vs. Montana State. But look at their ages and then you will know why. I'm sure you were immediately great at your first job.
  14. I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt now that it's been a couple days. Did you really mean this and do you believe it? Harris is a true sophomore who has a huge upside being 6'3" and able to run. He needs game experience, which he is getting, and needs to get tougher. He is too soft right now but will figure out what it takes in the Big Sky. The kid is going to be good, I mean real good. But it takes time for some. Corners don't get the luxury of learning on the job vs. run-first teams in the Big Sky. It's baptism by fire hose damn near every week.
  15. Pretty sure I saw commit Travis Toivonen at game.
  16. Cerriteno played.
  17. You better compare their age, time to prepare in the offense, players around them, and venue of their first start while you are at it. Horrible comparison. Awful. UNDs offense was horrific last year until last couple games of the year.
  18. True freshman who were all running the scout team 2 weeks prior, correct?
  19. RD17, I don't seem to ever remember you being this hostile about UND Football. What changed? Two weeks ago UND was in the Top 25. Now they lose a couple and fall to 4-4 and you come in and go ape sh-t on the staff. Seems strange to me.
  20. Everyone ripped UND for never winning an FBS game. Now they do win one, dominate in doing it, and it doesn't count. WTF do people want? My points stand and we will have to disagree. I watch 90% of UND's games and feel I have a pretty good handle on things.
  21. I know you have been around the board for a long time and know UND history. Which I obviously respect. But, it seems to me that you have an axe to grind with Bubba about something. How you could throw out blanket statements after 1.5 seasons is beyond me. I can verify that the coaching staff was shocked and/or stunned at the lack of talent on this roster at all positions when they showed up in January, 2014. Watching winter workouts produced many ulcers for them. There were lineman beating cornerbacks in quickness/agility drills. Pulling redshirts is not uncommon now. Kids are much more knowledgable and developed out of high school due to better programs at the HS's. Plus, it has been proven that unless you get the Juco kid you want, a HS kid is probably better. At least at UND it has proven to be that way. NDSU is playing 4 true freshmen and they supposedly have a national championship level roster of pure blue-chips. See the need? They have tried to fill in Juco's and FBS transfers to "win now" while developing the HS kids. More than not they have been busts. Last year they signed 27 HS kids and are playing 7 of them. All seven, minus Iwarri Smith and Palmborg (walk-on playing due to need-no other choice), have contributed immensely this year. I too question the use of Iwarri at this point due to the emergence of Oliveira and Santiago. But, nobody knew they were going to be healthy all year and the coaches must have felt they needed at least 3 guys with some experience in case of injury. Plus, Arrington (FBS) never panned out at all due to injury. So they needed Smith to be ready. You can look at Bubba's history and rightly point out the downfalls. They are there and undeniable. He got this job due to his tie to UND in the past, agreed. But when looking at the applicants I cannot name one that was 'no doubt' better. Another way to look at this is UND is 4-4 and lost to Idaho State after Studsrud went out and therefore couldn't milk the clock like they had done so successfully against Drake and UC Davis. They lost by 1 point to Weber for the exact same reason. 4th quarter they couldn't piss a drop and Weber started throwing all over them. If I recall UND did go out to Wyoming and kick the hell out of the Cowboys for UND's first ever FBS win. They played some bad Idaho teams and couldn't even beat them in the past. That was a pretty big win. So was Portland State where UND was playing with Studsrud, Taj Rich, and Reyes for majority of the game. That team looked pretty damn good in dominating the Vikings, who are now the cream of the Big Sky. Having their starters tends to make a thin team look better. There is no depth yet and it showed up the past 3 weeks. It culminated at Missoula when they got rolled by a team with playmakers. UND needs more experienced cornerbacks, not a true freshman and true sophomore, to go along with a sophomore safety (Reyes) and two walk-on safeties.
  22. Well, there is a good chance he is going to flop so get ready. I don't see Golladay, Hardin, and Jackson running around out there. There is nobody to throw to and he cannot run. Not his fault but this offense is setup for a running QB.
  23. If Carter had shown any playmaking ability to this point he would be playing. That much is obvious after last weekend. The coaches must not have seen enough through 2 fall camps and a spring ball session.
