You seriously think they didn't insulate the roof? In North Dakota? There were ZERO shortcuts taken on this building. It cost almost 20 million dollars to build.
-
Lets all take a step back here, kids. UND has long way to go before they are even playoff material. Let's just enjoy the progression and hope with each year comes a couple more victories, playoff games, etc. NDSU will be favored by 24-27, IMO.
-
North Dakota is pretty average this year on talent. 4-5 good players and a few walk-ons. Lund kid from Minot is probably the best prospect, with Feeney being another if he plays football.
-
That one is true head-scratcher. Neither UND or NDSU offered him and from what I was told he is "probably a Top 5" player in the state this year. I fully believe UND would have offered, yes. But, for Wyoming to come in this soon and offer a full ride is a bit puzzling. He certainly has the frame to be a big boy. Will be interesting to watch his progress.

Biggest drawback for each remaining name (final 15)

Is there a public vote? -
I know they were in contact with Jacquille Veii of Maryland. He ended up going somewhere out east I believe. Other than that there are multiple other running backs that have chosen to leave their school lately or were dismissed (Kansas, UCF, GT).

The 'ND' logo isn't changing. It has only changed fonts over the years and isn't going anywhere. Not quite sure what you are talking about.
-
We get it. You are smarter and deeper than everyone.
-
If you think 'North Dakota' and "ND" logo are going away after we get a nickname, then you are a f'ing moron. They will be around also, just like that last 50 years. Except now there will be multiple marketing options, just like before. And they might actually make money again.
-
"Cooling off period can be extended". LOL. I think we are all ice cold by now. 'North Dakota' is not marketable, as merchandise sales have shown. Solely using Notre Dame's logo for our marketing/merchandising is a great way to insure we keep our revenues down. The "ND" logo will always be around, just as it has always been around before. But using it by itself has proven to be "meh".

We don't need any more warm bodies. We had warm bodies. We need real FCS talent.
-
Parks is not the answer, IMO. I hope I am wrong and he shows something he didn't in high school. The Gophers moved him to cornerback for a reason. We will see I guess.
-
Once again, the Sioux name lovers are the only one's who are going to have trouble letting a new nickname "sink in". C'mon, seriously. The athletic department and alumni will be move forward as usual, just with new jerseys.
-
The new guy can deal with the nickname hillbillies that won't let go. And by dealing with I mean ignore and look forward. The new name will be in place and all new President guy will have to deal with his streamlining transitional issues, which will be minimal for him. That is more of an AD thing.
-
Compared to what Kelley went through the past 5-6 years with all this nickname crap, the new guy will have a walk in the park. Kelley did all the sh*t work and the new guy will just have to cleanup the scraps.
-
Exactly. NDSU is currently a 16 point favorite over Montana in Missoula. UND will be around a 27 point dog in Fargo.
-
It then turned into a question of "with all their resources and history, why couldn't they win when the scholarship playing field was leveled?" It is kind of interesting question, IMO. They are winning it all in FCS with everyone at same scholarship level but in D2 it seemed to hurt them and they couldn't recover.
-
Did you not just prove his point that a major reason why NDSU was better and deeper was because they gave more scholarships? Then, when they had to recruit at same level/amount as everyone they didn't dominate anymore (would they have even been dominant in 80's if they didn't have more scholarships)? Seems like you explained it pretty well. Am I missing the real point (tends to happen)? The key to this argument is that not everyone in the NCC was giving 45 scholarships.
-
The point of the story stands. It happens way too much, including fans tweeting at recruits that just got an offer from their main rival. And not a nice tweet either. Not saying what school the fan is from.....
-
Call them "UND" then. Like fans have done for 100+ years and will continue to do. People are really over thinking this.
-
They got rid of the most beloved name in the history of the world and donations INCREASED.

Dave Hakstol Leaving to Coach NHL Philadelphia Flyers
UND-1 replied to Ray77's topic in Men's Hockey
Once again, this is what I heard. Lets think about it, Hakstol isn't talking to Hextall without Faison knowing. So Faison matching the offer makes sense when applied to the original story. The tipping point dollar figure for BF is the mystery. -

UND-1 replied to Ray77's topic in Men's Hockey
I would guess lower than 700K for obvious reasons but more than he was making. 550-600K total package, maybe? Not unbelievable. Lets remember Hakstol has never coached in the NHL, he is going to be at the bottom of the coaching pay scale. They are not making Chip Kelly money in the NHL. If BF believes in his coach, he should try to make him the highest paid in college hockey. He obviously felt they had it in the budget. -

I am not the most clued-in guy ever when it comes to hockey. Surely there are people on here that know more than me, they should be able to confirm this. I believe it to be true, which would have been a substantial raise for Hakstol and his staff.
