  1. How about Jones getting low, Billy Jo Cuthbert style, when UND was on defense and imploring his team to play D through his actions? That was fairly embarrassing.
  2. NDSU struggling with this matchup zone. Good move by Jones.
  3. Look at the box score to see who played for Drake in those two games.
  4. Thinking more along lines of Kenny Golladay.
  5. And keeping 3rd string busts on full rides is a sound strategy, as well.

Iwarri will be a WR from now on.
  7. Along these same lines, Bohl is telling a few kids to walk at Wyoming right now. Not going over very well but he is doing what he has to. UND should not do what they have to, however. Or so we are told.
  8. Not if the player they are gravitating towards hasn't been offered yet. Then they are 100% trying to keep it under wraps.
  9. I am 100% sure we did not offer Pink and are not going to. Maybe they talked about it with him pending his senior season...no idea. If Pink had anything going on with FCS schools he would not have committed to a D2 in early December.
  10. I didn't make the drive over there but watched it on TV. Turned it off with a couple mins left in first half. I did not watch this year's game vs. UNI but will say that last years effort vs. NDSU was the most embarrassing thing I have ever seen when it comes to UND athletics. The football team got destroyed a few times in the past 3-4 years but they appeared to be playing hard, at least.
  11. The problem is USD is a public university so everyone knows. Looks really bad on his part. But, like Vince said, the guy is not the Straight Arrow Genaro that he makes himself out to be.
  12. Here we go again....shutup. There is a thread for this stupid fuking argument to take place in.
  13. Looks like Bob Stitt has the stones to cut underperforming or poor fit players from the team. Huh, what a concept. Around here we are supposed to honor their scholarships for 5 years because the previous staff thought they were good.
  14. Sit tight, bro. They are going to plummet real quick in the next two months. RPI is worthless until February.
  15. No idea. But I do know it's alot easier to identify who WON'T be the next head coach then who will be. The things Walthall is doing move the needle and show what he capable of, his high end. Winning regular season basketball games doesn't do anything for me if talking about a lower level coach.
  16. He is not the next UND coach. No idea why his name is being thrown out there.
  17. I get what you are saying as, yes, it does seem to be repetitive responses concerning the BB team and their coach. However, what also is repetitive is their results. Year after year after year. Get blown out by high-majors, beat NAIA teams, beat some Big Sky teams they are supposed to or are even with, maybe pull one minor upset of a low/mid major and end the year around .500. Every year the same thing. Some of us have been following the UND BB team for over 30 years now. Some probably longer than that. I have seen all sorts of teams hit the floor, from Gunther's to Glas's best to Glas's average teams at the end. So there is a point of reference when talking about how I/we feel the Mens BB program could be much better than they are right now. The Big Sky Conference is not some D1 juggernaut that is insurmountable for them to climb. And when it comes to pure "competitiveness/giveadamn" I am not even going to go into that. Concerning your point on "issues that need to be addressed". Jones program has not changed in his 9+ years here and nothing is going to change now. His mentality is what is going to guide the program his way. The culture he creates and fosters is the UND Men's BB program. So my point is what you are seeing is what you are going to get. Nothing has changed and obviously will not change. Case in point: look at the FB program now that Bubba took over. Many players quit, some were told to leave. All to get the culture that Bubba wanted in the locker room. That culture carried over to the field and UND overachieved this year to a 7-4 record. Key word: Overachieved.
  18. One question: in the second half how many times did they need to stop the game to mop up all the piss and vinegar that was on the floor? What an effort! Jonesy obviously said something at halftime.
  19. "That was an embarrassing performance, not only for themselves (his players), for their families, for this program, ummm because they are better than that". Nothing said about himself at all. Completely throws his players under the bus while taking zero blame himself, just saying "the program" all the time. The only thing embarrassing has been the multiple blow-out losses that we are all supposed to poo-poo away every year.

If there is a player that will never see the field if the coach had his choice, you would hope the coach would keep the player on full ride for 3-4 years?

Fair enough, my friend. Like I said before, you don't have to look far for examples of schools reducing players scholarships based on lack of playing time. Right or wrong, it happens. Having said all that, how do we even know the two backup QB's are losing anything.... Hypothetical convo?

I am not a coach. I am saying that there is not a staff in the country that would put 3 full rides into QB's if one or two of them cannot play or ever see the field. That is my point. They are not different than any other position where players have left, say, after spring ball. They were told they are not in the Top 2-3 at their position and are free to look around if they want. But, a decision on money needs to be made in certain cases.

Which is exactly what the UND staff does. Not sure your point. Many players leave because they actually want to play somewhere, which is the right decision. Kids only get one shot at this college football thing.

That attitude is certainly noble but there is a reason why so many players have "left the team" in the past year. They were told they were no longer a Top 2 player or whatever and were free to decide on their future. These two are not worth using two full rides anymore. One, maybe but not a 3rd stringer. Also, if you think UND is the only one that could possibly do this you don't have to look very far for a program that has gotten real good at "reducing" scholarships for unique reasons.

I understand any player can have a partial. Mollberg was a full and we assume that Bartels is close to a full, if not. That is alot of money that could help shore up a thin secondary.
