Great plan, but I find so much irony in the article about the project. They talk about the price tag being in a couple million and not sure how to fund it, but yet also mention the thousands of dollars in tax breaks given to downtown developers.

Basketball is one major sport where even mid-majors like UND can success on a consistent basis with a large fan following. UND will never be a Duke or Kentucky, but we could sure try to be top mid-major program every year and one who can pull of the occasional upset. Right now, UND basketball is just a doormat and uninspiring. There is little to do in Grand Forks on a winter weeknight. Time to make UND basketball the premier weeknight activity.

I would call Texas State barely FBS, just over 10k in attendance for their last game. However, I do understand your point. This is why UND football needs to be more successful. Better chance of taking a low tier FBS type of recruit.

Seriously? Its record level cold. Why have students walk 10 minutes to class or wait on the bus? They keep it open and someone gets serious frostbite, seems a lawsuit.

Maybe not top but at least competitive and have a reasonable chance for championships every year.

This thread is why UND athletics will struggle to be a premier mid-major program in all sports. We argue over the nickname, we argue of REA agreements, argue will fans of our own university over which sport is getting screwed over. We need a unified fanbase, mission, staff, and donors. Otherwise UND will only remain as a hockey school with occasional flash in the pan success in other sports. Happy to win an occasional Summit Championship or just happy to beat 2 of the 3 dakota schools every year. We as fans and athletic department should strive to be one of the top non FBS athletic programs in the nation (or better then lower level FBS schools).

Great addition. However I agree that a lack of Fighting Hawks logos is terrible. How can UND progress in athletics if we cant even agree to the nickname.

In Forums defense, none of the BSU mens games were broadcasted on tv. FSN instead aired the T wolves who were also on ESPN
