I can't claim credit for this thread: OK, I changed it slightly to "musings" because not all of Fetch's postings are really thoughts but maybe reflections. Fetch: Have at it.

It's called "an exclusive rights agreement" with a local distributor. If you're paying attention, there's no Pepsi products (all Coke).
-
And here's your already-on-campus Roughrider "war eagle": What is that statue? Yes a Colonel gave that to UND. (I believe Col. Myers was USAF however.)
-
You can't negotiate with an empty chair. And Standing Rock never sat down. Anyway, ... That agreement was October 2007. Kelley came in July 2008. The wheels were in motion before Kelley got here. Looking to be mad at someone, blame the "top-level state officials" ... the Governor et al.

It was all "grace period" before the NCAA came up with this policy. Starcher, Clifford, none of them got formal agreements in place with the tribes (when it would've been far easier and less politically charged).

Yeah, I don't like how it looks, but that's Pantone 347 (and that's UND's official green shade). I think part of it is I saved it as a *.png (not *.jpg).
-
I went as simple as possible: MSPaint. I created a custom color based on the RGB of Pantone 347. I made that the main pen color, selected the paint bucket icon (fill) and "poured" green over blue. Then I uploaded to a free (and anonymous) file share site to link here.

Too long. Yeah, yeah, I was too lazy to update the bottom wording.

Crosby, Malkin, Kessel: That's just short of $25 million tied up from now through 2021-22. (And TOR is eating some of Kessel's or it'd be over $26 million!)

I don't see anything official yet. You have to love those Canadians and their live trade-tracker. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl-trades/trade-tracker/

Francois Beauchemin signs with COL. ANA must've known that was coming.

Where all PIT defensemen seem to end up of late (Niskanen, Orpik).
-
(Probably the Swiss cheese memory but) I thought Slavin had said he was coming back to CC.

How did the Wild let that former Goldie slip away?

That alone makes it very "net negative" for the University (meaning add the good, pluses, and the bad, negatives, together and it comes out negative). Those factors only compound the net negative problem. I said to PCM probably a decade ago: You'll know the very instant the name is a net negative; that's the instant the name goes away, but not before.
-
Not impressed. Not what PIT needed.

The NHL on SiriusXM guys were speculating that Dougie didn't fit into the room in BOS.
-
Now it's "all or most". Great ... more "majority or plurality" and "how do we round to an integer" discussions.
-
It looks like there's a new place that is watching the NHL salary cap: https://www.hockeyscap.com/

I'd say CHI made lemonade. Saad wanted about 6 years at $6.5MM per. No way could CHI come anywhere near that. Rather than getting a late first rounder they got something more than hope. I think CHI will end up putting either Morin or Dano into a bottom six role in the fall. What caught my eye in yesterday's transactions was CAR putting Alex Semin on unconditional waivers. When he was with WAS he was slotted correctly (behind Ovechkin and Backstrom). CAR expected him to be a marquee guy. Semin is way too hot and cold for that. I wonder if someone will take one last chance on him because when he's on, offensively he's lethal.

I just feel like Eunice and Archie and the rest are well intentioned but about a decade behind when it comes to information.

Unfortunately, some of their "recently uncovered documents" were in the public domain in 2006.

What's the future of the Fighting Sioux icon
The Sicatoka replied to CMSioux's topic in UND Nickname
UND, per the settlement agreement, has to maintain their trademark and ownership rights of the logo. To do that they must periodically (whatever that means) use it in commerce. You'll see "legacy collection" stuff with the old name and logo come out at some frequency. Shunned? By some; others will see it as history and smile a somber smile of the past. -
The building fooled a friend of mine. They looked at it while driving north on the Columbia Road overpass. Later on they drove up close to it and realized how big it really is.

Ooooo...
