He is being subjective. Journalists should be objective.

Wild ... ... ... domesticated.

They don't list indoor and outdoor track separately but those are separate teams. Thus what you see is really 8 mens / 8 womens.

They're too close to Chicago. They'll always look east. Their dream is the MAC.

Dear Dan, Thanks for your interest in UND Athletics. We've been moving to an alignment that looks more like NDSUs. The Same -- NDSU: FB, MBB, WBB, VB, WSB, WSOC, "The Six", WGolf, MGolf UND: FB, MBB, WBB, VB, WSB, WSOC, "The Six", WGolf, MGolf The Differences -- NDSU: Wrestling, Baseball UND: MIH, M/W Tennis, WIH, M/W S&D, So, yes UND has M/W Tennis. Seems balanced there so let's forget Tennis for now. Now the questions: Does MIH at UND balance out both Wresting and Baseball at NDSU? By participants, opportunities? Surely not. More importantly, should one smirk and feel glee about a Title IX investigation (that I welcome), but instead, should one be asking, "Why did UND have that happen only when they moved to look like NDSU?" So, should you really be happy? The NDSU model triggered an investigation at UND. You should be hoping that UND comes away with no findings, or else NDSU would seem to be prime for a similar investigation. So, Dan, thanks for reading, and enjoy that morning cup of coffe. "The Six" == M/W I/O T&F and M/W CC

Just whistling past the graveyard.

Cheaper travel and fewer meals (fewer, not less, fewer) is going to solve the problem when entire teams have been cut already and it's not close to enough? As far as how you found out, allow me to say it again: UND had to tell the WWCHA. The first news came from Todd Mileski, who is tight with the WCHA. Seems reasonable the leak is there. And why might the WWCHA leak? Could the WCHA still be upset about UND's role in forming the NCHC? Would they want to put a stick in UND's eye given the chance?

They're close over on eGriz. The correct answer is ... Idaho MontanaMontana State Eastern Washington North DakotaNorth Dakota StateSouth DakotaSouth Dakota StateOmaha Denver That's 8 FB; 10 BB; easy scheduling. (7 conf FB games; 18 conf BB games w/travel partners) If you want 9 FB you also add another BB only school for a 9 FB / 12 BB alignment (8 FB games / 22 conf BB games). To me the FB would be UNoCo or NMSU (or fledgling Wichita State FB if they start up) and the BB only would be UMKC or Oral Bob. The 9/12 alignment is better because of the balanced 8 FB games (4H / 4A).

Well, since you liked that, let's get them all so far ... (non playoff teams in no particular order) ... Sabres ... dulled Hurricanes ... downgraded Avalanche ... melted Stars ... clouded over Red Wings ... clipped Panthers ... declawed Kings ... dethroned Devils ... exorcised Islanders ... sunk Flyers ... drug off plane by United ... what ... too soon? Coyotes ... neutered Lightning ... grounded Canucks ... deported Jets ... shot down

The list of 12 sports? Who knows. I'd speculate Kennedy in consultation with Athletics (Faison). But < shrug >. When the entire campus is under the budget microscope (three months after the IAC pulls a classic "do-nothing") because not of Kennedy and internal decisions, but because of the Governor, the Legislature, and external factors (no State dollars coming) if you don't realize that everything is back on the table you're just whistling past the graveyard. Regarding "bookkeeping" in athletics (everywhere): Hey, former Enron accountants need jobs too. More seriously, the Feds have you report numbers one way; the NCAA wants the numbers another way; I'm guessing the State has you track them another. I'm thinking up to this point Athletics had been looked at to the "department" level (bottom line only). With the State budgets what they are things are getting looked at to the line item levels within every UND (every NDUS) department. That scrubbing is a good thing (good Lord, I'm starting to channel Rob Port). If not for the review by IAC, MIH would probably still be paying the full cost of REA usage for all of UND Athletics. Let's do some real accounting, accounting that would stand up to reasonability and matching tests under standard GAAP guidelines.

I do it to bring a smile to an old man's face. (Of course I'm talking about dead Abe Vigoda. ) And come on. Nothing for this gem in post 257 over there: I figured you, et al, would be all over that hanging curve.

Like I said, ... the Summit ... Summit: Direct -- lose NDSU to MVC Secondarily -- OVC loses to MVC, OVC grabs from Summit Tertiarily -- OVC loses to MVC, OVC grabs from Horizon, Horizon grabs from Summit Do the eastern Summit schools really want to be in a more and more I-29 based conference?

I'm calling it now: Chicago Blackhawks 2018 Stanley Cup Champions. Call it symmetry: 2010, 2013, 2015, 2018. Then the run is done.

Of your team, Campbell, Crosby, Kane, Toews and Keith played last night. If you agree on Apr 20, check those guys. (Don't check Campbell. He's a zee-row.)
