They need to clean up the controllable mistakes. How many times did they get inside the 20 only to go backwards. What happened to "zero penalties" in the Washington game? They need to get into "play by play" mindset. All that matters is the next play: Execute your portion of it precisely, flawlessly.

I believe in today's college hockey you must have a legitimate threat of offense from your third line and the top two lines be more than just a threat but producing consistently. That said, I'm very concerned about offense this season. The top six I see are Jones, Hain, Kawaguchi, Mismash, Gardner, JJ. That scares me because I don't see two full consistent production lines there. The make or break guys are Weatherby, Yon, Bowen, Adams, Smith, Hoff. For every one of the top six that don't produce, one of these six must, and beyond that, at least two more must produce. I see 12 names there. I'm struggling to find a consistent 2.5 GPG throughout a season. And frankly, I could see games where the offense is going so poorly they put out a line-up without a traditional "fourth line" scraping for any scoring. Mentioning "fourth" ... Johnson, Senden, Keane? I see them as the match-up/energy line guys all season long.

Yes and no. NDSU is at 16 sports (remember: T&F is 2 teams, indoor, outdoor). That's the minimum for Division I ... FBS. The Division I FCS minimum is 14.

I think Bubba wants to win without showing up his opposing coaching staff unnecessarily. Call it old school gentleman's play. What that can lead to is what looks like letting up or giving opportunities unnecessarily because the other side will not quite. Alternatively, in today's world that doesn't always get the beauty-points of the pollsters. If you beat a team by 28 and the pollsters think it should've been 42 you are punished. I guess I'd tell Bubba it's OK to keep the dogs on the attack as long as the other team has their first-teamers out there.

West Fargo referendum info West Fargo needs a golf course as the WF HSs play on Village Green in Moorhead. This third HS (I'm hearing it'll probably pass) only exacerbates the issue. Only thing that makes me sad? WF Sheyenne HS (Veterans and 40th) picked royal blue and orange and "Mustangs" as homage to the defunct Horace HS. This new HS will be even closer to beautiful and scenic, booming downtown Horace (Sheyenne St and 76th).

The MVFC is "MV" in name only. It's actually the old (defunct) Gateway FB Conference. It runs as a branch of the Summit, not the MVC, doesn't it?
