How about Duck hunting season. How does UND end up with such crappy scheudles.

Maybe Lucia stuck the "Minnesotans wanting to go duck hunting in ND" disk into the computer that came up with the schedule. Wonder if this at home before Christmas, on the road after is a permanent thing for the Sioux.

BC should be a title contender and Yale is not bad (I hear they put up a good fight ;) ), so much for the cupcake arguement next year.

MN Northstar - Just an FYI, but MSU-Mankato is "Cindy."

Gotcha...Thanks, I like being on the "inside" :D ...ah yes, Mankato as a clueless little girl who thinks they are better than they are (or am I way off base?). ;)

And a good "fight" is right...UNH/Ferris style I hear

I also like the fact that no one can say our record is watered down because of cupcake NC opponents.

What's up with the weird home-away schedules.....

I don't know if this has any bearing on why the schedule is home-heavy in the beginning, but there's a lot of season ticket holders who have to drive to get to GF... my family's from Devils Lake, which means we get home after a game at 11:30 or 12:00, which has never been a big deal to see UND play... but if it's a home series in January and there's snow, there's going to be less fans in the seats. Since there's better weather in the first half of the season (statistically, anyway), maybe they set up the schedule as such to decrease the chance of a snowstorm preventing hundreds of out-of-towners from getting to the game. And take it from me, the fans from Devils Lake that I know cheer their @$$es off... because if there's a loss, we've got a 90 minute drive home (and the bitter knowledge that we drove 3 total hours to watch UND to get beat by f#%*ing Michigan Tech) to brood about it, and that sucks.

So for self-interested reasons only, I'm all for the "weird home-away schedules"

Damn... and UMD said that UND plays weak non conference teams. The only good teams they play is during that ice breaker tourney. BSU, BGSU and Union.... Awwww C'mon really. ;) And they wondered why St. Cloud got into the tournement and UMD didn't.

UMD looks to finish off the season with a real tough stretch. At Mankato, Minnesota, at CC, and UND that will make or break the season, but finisher to Wisconsin look to be of similar calibre to UND finishing with Tech unless UW turns it around hardcore next year.

I think that within the next two years Duluth will have a tougher NC schedule, Sandelin has just started rebuilding the program, and as they get better (as I assume they will) more quality NC opponents will want to face them.

This may or may not be funny, but the girl that played Cindy in the brady show ended up being a porno star.

So I guess MSU-M is Cindy...

Cindy became a porn star? I thought the Brady Bunch was supposed to demonstrate good family values. :D

And hey Mankato would never be lucky enough to have porn stars running around.... We dont even have that in Grand Forks. Maybe U of M has pornstars, but not us. ;);)

Booooooo.... You had to go ruin my fun. Ah well Mankato still doesnt deserve the pornstars. ;)

Ah, Ah, Ah...not so fast boys...there is a bit of misinformation on the link...

"...and the magazine deems it highly unlikely that, when asked "Where's the strangest place you ever made whoopee?" a "Newlywed Game" contestant replied, "That would be in the butt, Bob." "

I've seen the clip on America's Funniest Game Show Moments...so there is still hope on Cindy Brady

You're exactly right, but what "better" schools would want to play UMD? The top 10 teams or so either pick another top 10 school, or a *ahem*"cupcake" to fill their NC schedules.

UMD will always play Bemidji because of proximity. Union contract is up after next season. This is the first year with Bowling Green.

Of course, everyone at UMD would like to get some tougher opponents, but when you're not "the top dog" you can't pick and choose who you want to play.

Ah maybe we can get Canisus and BSU to come to the second annual cup cake classic/tourney...

The non-conference schedule seems a little light as in not enough games. Last year UND has 10 non-conference games.

The WCHA released its composite schedule yesterday.

UND's mystery exhibition opponent is: Concordia Quebec (the Bison weren't available?)

UND's mystery tournament participants are: Findlay, Brown, Wayne St (at least all count as NCAA games)

SiouxSports now has the complete 2003 UND schedule and all opponents' schedules (available from the team links in the WCHA standings table on the main hockey page).

The REA Pro Shop has magnetic schedules. I picked one up on Saturday and noticed that the Concordia game is actually Concordia of Montreal (as opposed to Moorhead).

Borrowed from www.concordia.ca:

Concordia is a large, urban university, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The university has two campuses, set approximately 7 km apart: Sir George Williams Campus is in the downtown core of Montreal, and Loyola Campus is in the residential west-end of Montreal.

My first impression is that it looks regal. There are no references to athletics on their main page. I found it interesting that, in addition to women's hockey, they also have women's rugby. Perhaps that wouldn't be surprising to people who follow rugby.

Back to the subject: Last season, the Concordia men (9-13-2) finished last in their division of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport league. The CIS standings contain an amazing range of talent: One school finished 24-0-0 while two others combined for three wins.

I, for one, am pleased that it is Concordia of Montreal rather than Moorhead.

From the Herald:

Nov. 7-8 - Minnesota;

Can't imagine the turn out at the concert will break 10,000 -- with the screwy scheduling the gophers weren't in town last year so I would think that most ticket holders are planning on attending both games and wouldn't necessarily flock to this concert...

http://www.grandforks.com/mld/grandforks/6686678.htm

"Alerus Pursues Aerosmith/Kiss" Nov. 8th -- add in the fact that Aerosmith has played both Fargo and GF within the last 5 years -- Maybe I'm a pessimist, but I don't think that planning a concert in GF that night/weekend is a very good financial investment...... Someone in marketing/sales please enlighten me....

Students have slowly but surely been getting squeezed out of seats at the Englestad the last few years. Pretty soon, the Alerus won't have to worry about conflicts because there won't be any students at the games anymore, just 50 year old "good old boys".

I think that an act like KISS will have no problem selling out. Keep in mind that this concert will probably attract a great deal of Fargo people too.
