Maybe I was.......and maybe I WAS.......no, I actually made my kids sit at the computer and vote for three days straight.

Did you have to give the school a Drs excuse for them to be readmitted to school??? :glare:

Are you saying that one person voted often enough to account for 23.5% of the votes on that poll question??

Again, the person writing the poll must have thought highly enough of the rivalry to include it as a poll question. This wasn't a write in poll.

No, that's not what I'm saying at all. The "someone" I'm referring to is the person who designed the poll. You might have noticed that there are 3 choices involving the State of Wisconsin totalling over 70% of votes cast. The problem with this sort of a question is that we have no idea whether the folks that voted for the Packers, for instance, would prefer UW Football, UW Hockey or UND Hockey. I suspect that if you removed the Packers, for instance, that UW Hockey would easily outpoll UND Hockey.

And, of course, we have no idea who actually voted and how many times a single person may have voted.

I thought that no one outside of Grand Forks cared about hockey, according to most at Bisonville. You have an employee at ESPN, that is a rabid hockey fan and quite possibly a Sioux hockey fan, creating a poll in which he wanted to skew the results to make UND look good. You would have an easier time convincing me that one person accounted for 23.5% of the voting. :glare:

Geez, you gotta be kidding. My point is obviously correct - I'm sure you know that.

BTW - Here's a scientific poll that yields considerably different results:

Interesting poll results. Do you happen to have the poll questions? Was North Dakota on the list of potential rivals on this poll? Or was it a list of Big Ten schools?

Which point is obviously correct? I do agree that any poll can be skewed. Which questions were asked and how they are asked are the usual methods of shaping a poll. My point is someone at ESPN thought highly enough of the UND vs. Minn rivalry to include it as a poll question and somehow that answer got 23.5% of the response.

As long as I was on the site, I went over the North Dakota page. As a Bison fan you couldn't have liked that one. Big front page picture of the Sioux hockey team winning the national championship. You gotta like the poll question about favorite college team. Sioux hockey wins again.

As for moral victories, they may not believe in them but they should. They need to realize their place in the pecking order of college football and appreciate the fact that they didn't get blown out yesterday. They hung in there for 4 quarters against a Big 10 team, which is amazing. That wouldn't happen on paper, therefore it should be considered a moral victory. We learned yesterday that a Division I team can play the worst game they've played in over 20 years and still come away with a "W" if the opponent is a I-AA.

Ya know, thats what one would think but here's a stat you can't ignore. The Gophers did not committ any turnovers. It was the Bison who committed 2 turnovers plus 2 missed field goals. They had a TD taken off the board. The Bison should have blown them out of the water. I watched he game twice and the Bison dominated in every possible way. I honestly think that the Bison would be better than many of the weak Big Ten teams. They will probably beat them next year.

For the record, I am a Bison fan. I think the Sioux could definately compete with the Bison right now but I'd have to give the Bison the advantage. It's clear that a top notch D2 team and D1AA team can compete with the big dogs. The Bison proved it when they beat Montana. The Sioux proved they can compete when they visited Northern Iowa. The Bison proved it when they played the Gophers.

HOWEVER...

The big advantage the Bison hold is in depth. When UND beat Northern Iowa, it was during week 3 and both teams were at full strength. The Bison beat Montana early in the year too. Clearly, the Sioux starters are as good as UNI's. The backups are not.

If you guys would have played UNI torward the end of the season (or in the playoffs) when your banged up, that's where UNI would have beaten the Sioux. Let's face it, a D2 backup is not in the same league as a D1AA backup, getting a free ride.

That's what impressed me about playing the Gophers. We are more than half of the way finished and have lost quite a few key players.

Yes, the record of the teams the Bison played are below .500 but most of those games were on the road and any D1A team with 85 scholorships is pretty darn impressive. Beating up on Georgia Southern on the road is an impressive feat. Beating up on them at home is not.

I get mixed results from o ther fans on playing the Sioux. I would love to see us play again. Nothing beat that game. (Although I had the same kind of fun atmosphere at the metrodome, even a little better) The Bison don't NEED to play the Sioux. We are averaging 16,000 per game not including the road game which pulled in another 15000-20000 fans. They want to see us play schools like Montana. I just don't want to go back to the days of playing Augustana and St Cloud.

Sioux fans.....

Guess what happened now?

Sounds like NDSU is going Gateway in football. See the Forum today. Just room for two, however, and SDSU gets to ride NDSU's coat tails.

Boy, I would hate to cheer for a school that is a day late and a dollar short......this will kill the Great West. :silly:

Lay off the trolling. If you want to participate in a real discussion about I-AA conferences, we have a forum for that. If you're just here to smack/taunt Sioux fans, go away.

I thought Augie was still in the mix? ;)

They announced they'd look into it the same time USD did after UND announced their intentions to move. There really has not been any news about it out of Sioux Falls since then, which was June or July. Some speculate they may move and go non-scholarship football, but who knows. I personally doubt they'll move up.
