Interesting name that’s been brought up. None of our coaches currently follow him.

Just my opinion, but he started every game for Minot State and averaged 8.8 ppg and 5 rpg.  I would bet $ that Erickson could do that at Minot State.  So you essentially are looking at another Erickson. I would pass but of course Jones only averaged 2.8 ppg & 3.3 rpg - and many really like him - which I don't understand.

Well, Randall Herbst is the head coach at Minot State. Randall, as everyone probably knows, was an assistant coach at UND under Sather before becoming the head coach at Minot. He left under good terms. I would assume the lines of communication should be strong and honest. If he fits what Sather wants, Sather should have a decent shot at him.

i do miss the amateur aspect of what used to be college sports and the olympics.....

what the old guys like guldseth and vonesh and tuttle (and others...not just und guys) and others that played before nil should sue the crap out of the ncaa for lost revenue and backrupt the ncaa and start over at square one.

💯 agree that the old days were a blast for college sports, I miss it also.

That being said, it's time to get over having our feelings hurt by kids getting 6 figure deals from other schools.and choosing to leave. I've said it before but, 99% of us would take the money and go play somewhere else. Our coaching staff here has gotten better each year figuring this out and playing for a conference title this year was cool. It'll get figured out.

UST flagshipped basketball and left football in the doldrums of the non-scholarship Pioneer League, so the circumstances are a bit different. They have gone all-in on their hoops NIL so they might be able to retain some more talent. There's also a few other things working in their favor from a facilities and location standpoint. That said, they're not immune either. Andrew Rohde and Kendell Blue both defected after good seasons.

St. Thomas is working towards playing in the Big East and football will be dumped completely. Their goal is being direct competition with the U of M in all sports other than football and the Big East move is next on their to-do list.

Outside of hockey, the U has avoided UST at all turns. A jump from the Summit League to the Big East is a pretty lofty goal, but of course they'd jump at the opportunity if it presented itself. That said, where are you getting the "football will be dumped" information? Georgetown, Villanova, Butler, and UConn all kept/have football programs, and some of UST's biggest donors are former football players. The last Big East schools to dump football (Marquette/Xavier) did it in the 70s. I think UST will kick around the Pioneer for a long time. Now, if the P4 branches off and the G6 creates a subdivision I think a lot of FCS schools (including some in the MVFC) might have a decision to make, dump football or go all in. We'll see.

If our players are getting six figure deals from other schools, how did they end up here in the first place? What you have is a system where teams are throwing money around hoping to get a diamond in the rough. How long will schools continue doing that if the ROI doesn't measure up?

How long will people and businesses keep giving money
